Christmas Eve -> Wigilia
In my home:
We fast the whole day long, decorate the christmas tree, and prepare the Christmas Eve Supper, whit which the advent ends/ and fasting time. After the supper we open presents "from" Baby Jesus Christ and go to the church for the midnight mass, to see the decorations in the church and to sing carols. Ther's always a Christmas play in the church as well.
Christmas Eve Supper:
we wait the whole day so ther's always plenty of food on the supper
smile but in Silesia we don't eat meat the whole day, in other parts of Poland they have a duck and 12 dishes for the supper, we should have 12 dishes too, but ussully we don't pay atention to it. But the most importand thing, is to leave one extra place for a someone that could arrive, so that he could eat with us.

In Silesia we can have on the table:
barszcz z uszkami-> borsch with little dumplings with mushrooms inside, that we call "ears- uszka" (very good)
zupa grzybowa-> mushroom soup (I don't like it;P)
zupa rybna z karpia -> fish soup from a carp (have never ate a fish soup;P)
carp is the most importand fish during our Christmas

żur wigilijny -> a sour soup (I hate that;P)
then some fried fish like carp with potatos and...
kapusta kiszona z grzybami-> sauerkraut with mushrooms (very good)
kapusta kiszona z grochem-> sauerkraut with pea (I don't like it
razz )
krokiet z kapustą i gzybami-> croquet with sauerkraut and mushrooms (I love them)
pierogi z kapustą i grzybami-> dumplings with sauerkraut and mushrooms
and as a dessert
makówki-> poppy pie (which I personaly hate x_X)
after the suppor we share with each other with wafers and wish each other something
smile In each city there are Christmas fairs or like in Krakau contests for the best nativitis.
then ther's the 25th and 26th December- when we still have holyday and that's it ^_^
