between: la mort noire - - xx & thypope.

Liesel had found HyTech, strangely enough, empty (probably because everyone else had already migrated over to party, although she wasn't aware of this). It didn't stop her from wanting to explore, though. Currently she was attempting to get herself up onto the couch. Luckily for Belle, she was much too short to do so on her own; if she'd been tall enough her hooves would probably be poking holes through the leather covers. "Eeeee," she squealed, trying to get herself up. She had no idea where her brother or her mother had gotten to, but she really didn't care now that she was occupied.

la mort noire - - xx
Santiago had been sleeping. It was not an all around absurd notion; the wolf spent most of his early days curled up by the warmth of his human in a constant state of drowsiness. When he wasn’t dozing off, he was eating, and when he wasn’t eating, he was certainly searching for a cozy place to stick himself in and drift. However, his comfy new spot seemed to have been compromised early on. A furry black ear perked to attention when the click of hooves roused him, a particularly feminine voice coming from somewhere… below him. Right, yes, he was on a couch. Now it made a bit more sense. Slowly, a cerulean eye cracked open, the canines mouth opening into a yawn, tongue curling between sharp incisors. Who was disturbing him now? Shifting a bit, Santiago moved so that his head hung over the side of the black leather sofa, snout close to what looked like a human but smelled like a deer. Santiago’s one open eye fluttered. Tired, tired, tired. With as much savageness as a mouse, the wolf snapped his teeth together once, twice. I’m trying to sleep, go away, he seemed to say. Though with his sluggish attitude, one could only imagine how threatening he really was.

thypope
Oh! There was someone up there! Liesel peered at the little wolf. She hadn't seen him there, perhaps due to the black color of his coat or perhaps due to how far in he'd been curled up or even due to how Liesel had been completely focused on the sofa's leather. "Liesel," she giggled - she didn't really know any other words, see, and Kisuke was very awkward in his 'teaching.' Oh, he had such pretty blue eyes, and shiny teeth! The cervitaur flicked her ears back and tried to reach for the wolf, sticking a tongue out the side of her mouth as she did so. "Uuuuwa." The little girl seemed completely oblivious to any potential threat the wolf possessed - to her, he was merely an extremely furry cuddly thing, much like the stuffed animals that convened for tea parties back in her home. "Liesel?" she asked, pointing a dainty little finger in the wolf's direction.

la mort noire - - xx
Santiago yawned again, the incoherent words nothing more than sounds to him. An ear twisted backwards, and the wolf gave a soft snort, the drowsiness pushing down on him like a thick blanket. Just who was this human-deer thing? She smelled nice, but goodness, she was loud. Lolling his head to one side, the canine shifted onto his side, his legs stretching out in a near comical display of waking up. Falling limp again, the wolf propelled himself a bit closer with his paws, sticking his nose in Liesel’s face to get a better scent of the strange human-deer. Snout twitching, Santiago opened his mouth and licked her nose then decided that she certainly wasn’t as tasty as actual dear and closed his mouth again. When the other made the noise again, the “liesel” noise that sounded strangely different from anything else he’d heard, Santiago barked, a low soft sound in the back of his throat. He was sure that whatever word-sound that might be, it did not entitle food, nor did it say come here, let me scratch behind your ears. So he merely sat in compliant silence, his wet nose sniffing all over the girl’s face. When his snout caught a few of the girls strands of hair, he wrinkled his face up and then sneezed, his mouth opening into a yawn next. What a strange little girl who wouldn’t let him sleep.

Liesel had no idea what Santiago was trying to communicate to her - and, to be frank, probably didn't care. She hummed at him, moving her hand along his body like it was the most fascinating tactile sensation she'd ever experienced. He was far fluffier than any of her stuffed animals back home, she decided. And he moved! Liesel smiled almost delightedly at him - and then leaned back at the lick. No one had ever done that to her before. His tongue, a wolf's, was a little rougher than hers was (she thought, anyway), but it was still pink and wet. It wasn't, altogether a bad sensation. She poked her tongue out at him in return. "Ai-ahhhhh!" Liesel squealed, unable to actually pronounce consonants with a tongue hanging out of her mouth. How sweet he was! She pushed her hands up on the sofa and tried jumping to reach the wolf - that wasn't a help at all. So instead she grabbed onto his snout while he sniffed her, Liesel's own tongue still peeking out of her mouth. "'Choo!" she giggled, almost imitating the wolf's sneeze. She flailed her hands around a little, finding his ears and poking around behind them. The fur there was nice, too.

Snorting at the other, Santiago sniffed again. The hands felt nice, but they were clumsy. They didn’t feel as nice or as warm or as trained as his humans, but for now, they were enough, he supposed. Tail beginning a slow wag, Santiago gave a wolf like sound that vibrated from low in his chest when the other leaned back and gave a high-pitched sound of her own. What a strange little creature! While hardly as curious or interested as Liesel was in him, Santiago could not deny that this strange girl-thing was enough to keep him awake, at least for now. Ears swiveling forward, Santiago lifted his head a bit and shook himself from side to side, lifting a hind leg to scratch behind a particularly itchy ear. When the other reached and grabbed onto his snout, Santiago stopped for a moment, unused to such treatment. A lazy, harmless growl rose to his throat, though he didn’t have the heart nor the energy to try and tell her that that was not very comfortable. Realizing belatedly that the girl probably wanted up onto the comfy thing – after all, who wouldn’t? It was a very nice place to sleep – Santiago fluffed his tail, yawning as he rolled onto his stomach and let the girl play with his ears for a moment, his entire body lazy and warm. Then he reached down and closed his teeth around the red fabric of the girl’s cloth-thing, giving a sharp tug with his teeth to try and help the girl onto the couch. His human owned a rather odd and rambunctious pack of “family” things that he took Santiago to meet at times, and the young ones with stubby arms and weak legs were almost like Liesel, always wanting up onto the high places. But she was heavier than they were! Santiago gave one more tug to try and get the nice warm deer-girl up onto the couch, if only to have more of the nice pet-hug-touch.

The wolf's voice wasn't anything like hers, or like the big hytes who were always going on with long sentences and confusing and hard to pronounce sounds. Liesel liked that. "Eeee?" she asked, in response to the growl. That hadn't sounded nice. She cocked her head at him perplexedly, but continued the petting anyhow. Kisuke never let her do this to his tail. She jerked in surprise when he grabbed her hood - and then again when he tugged at it. "Eeeeh - " she shrieked, before realizing he was helping her goal of getting up on the couch. Well, with any luck the fabric wouldn't tear in the process. She pushed herself up on the couch, momentarily losing grasp of Santiago - and then she had her upper torso slammed onto the couch, and it was only a matter of wild scrambling of all six of her limbs before she got up onto the couch with him - allowing a full view for the first time. "Ahhhhm," she giggled, wide-eyed. He had a tail, too! And he was so black - nearly as big as she was, which was far bigger than any of her stuffed animals back home.

Santiago wouldn’t know a voice from a sound at this point. Still drowsy and perplexed as a newborn, the wolf could only distinguish different tones. His humans sound was most familiar to him, a faintly gritty noise with warmth in the undertones that bred the idea of food and happyhappyhappy in Santiago’s mind, and that of his families. High-pitched squeals, the human-runts, deep, scratchy tones, the old, wrinkled masses that smelled strange. But this girl was none of the sounds he had come to be familiar with. Her tones were high and soft, interesting and intriguing. She smelled of deer but she tasted human. She was very… strange. Santiago’s teeth relinquished their hold as soon as the girl was up, peering at her with deep blue irises as she squealed and scrambled. Between yawning, the canine gave a snort, perhaps a form of wolfish laughter. Mellow compared to his companion, the wolf laid his head down on the black leather and waited for her to situate herself. She made another noise as she settled into stillness, making Santiago perplexed for a moment before he shook his snout and shuffled forward on all fours, poking his nose against her face for a moment before he sniffed her over, pressing his muzzle to the soft fur of her hide and inhaling the scent of deer. Something in him begged to bite, but Santiago was still a pup, and so it was lost to the overwhelming touch-pet-pleasure-want-want-want-sleepy. The canine language only had so many words, but they all described Santiago’s demeanor quite well. Once his once over was done, Santiago lifted his head sleepily and stared into deep green eyes. Tail slowly shifting back and forth, the canine put his head down again, resting it against the warm-warm-warm of the strange girl-deer-thing. She was very loud, but she was also very comfy, he decided.

Liesel knew voices mostly because she'd been spending so much time trying to learn how to talk (not that that was working well at all). She offered a small frown at the wolf's laughter, before breaking it into a smile to show she was well-meaning, really. The deer hyte ran her small fingers through Santiago's fur - it was so warm and alive. Liesel liked him much better than any of the toys she could have at home. She tried to pull him closer, clinging to him the way she sometimes saw her mother clinging onto her older brother's arm. But he was better than her brother's arm. Liesel smiled to herself - this was a secret she could keep. She folded her legs awkwardly, trying not to kick the other at all while he settled against her tummy. It was a very nice feeling. Her little green eyes blinked almost fondly at him - she didn't know anything about comfy, really, but he fit well into her arms, even sniffing and shifting himself all over her. She closed an eye, running her hand over his form a few times more. Yes, in a few hours she'd wake up and realize that there'd been a party all along and run around. But for now Liesel was content to lie with Santiago - for once, still as she could be.

la mort noire - - xx
Having no real voice to talk with just yet, Santiago was just fine with snuffling and sniffing, barking and howling at the moon. Not to say he made a habit out of it, oh no, he was far too busy sleeping. Later, perhaps, when his mind held more thoughts than just those of wolfish fantasies, he would learn this strange human language. But for now, the canine was content in wagging his tail as Liesel ran her fingers through his hair, shifting all around him as he shifted against her. It was awkward at first, but they both seemed to fall into place sooner or later, Santiago’s head resting against the deer-girls hide. She was comfortable and warm, just like his human, and the canine was beginning to enjoy the strange mix of scents – that of prey, and that of human. He blinked back at her for a few moments, blue eyes gazing sleepily at the fondness that he could not understand. Opening his mouth into a final yawn, Santiago stretched his paws out before closing his eyes, his ears twitching every once in awhile as he fell into his new cozy place. This girl was far better then the couch had been. A few hours of sleep would be nice after all, because Santiago had never known “parties”, and thus sleeping and the strange deer girl had to be far better than whatever they could have provided.
