This project is inactive as of the moment. Please do not PM me with applications. I will revive this at a later date.

DO NOT POST HERE UNLESS YOU'RE PARTICIPATING IN THE ROLE PLAY. FOR QUESTIONS, SUGGESTIONS AND DISCUSSION, PLEASE GO TO THE OTHER THREAD. THANK YOU. BREAKING THE RULES WILL RESULT IN A BAN.

Time has long passed the age of D-Wheels… since that time Duel Monsters has evolved drastically into sky rocketing heights. D-Wheels have been forgotten in favor of the new and latest dueling technology: D-Jets. These special Fighter Jets reach even greater speeds then the D-Wheels of old, allowing for the most intense dueling experiences.

However, not all is good in the beautiful blue skies… evil has found it’s way to the heavens. A terrorist organization by the name of RotS threatens the peace with attacks on the major cities throughout the world. Die, they say, or join us. All hope seems lost… or is there still lingering hope in the distant horizon?

~ YU-GI-OH! HEAVENLY DUELS ~

Please read ALL of the rules.

1) Rules

Strict rules are strict, but they must be followed. Dire consequences to those who break them.

a) Keep swearing to a minimum. In fact, if I see you swearing more then twice per post, I’ll ban you.
b) Don’t let me catch you acting like you’re some god (unless I say you can). No one likes a power hogger. I’m warning you, don’t make me swing my ban hammer.
c) Be literate. There should be no reason for mass amounts of miss spelled words. A typo or two, but goddamn, use spell checker if you really need to. Do it. Otherwise, if I see illiteracy… “Ban baby, ban!”
d) Don’t cheat. Get caught and it’s immediate banning for you.
e) Obviously, follow the forum rules and Gaia’s rules blah blah blah… etc.
f) Keep it PG13. Herp derp.
g) If you want to talk out of character, do it outside of this thread.

That’s all. ☺ Oh, and if you do get banned, I’ll be role-playing your death for you. Terrorist attacks FTW.

2) How to Join

PM me a message titled “YGO! HD Application”. It must contain the following filled out form:

Character Name:
Faction: Either Hero, Villain, or Supporter (see section 3)
Gender:
Age:
Visual Description:
Personality:
History:
Ground Deck Name:
Sky Deck Name:
Link to List of Created Cards Info:

To join, you must create a deck(both a Ground Deck and a Sky Deck) consisting entirely of cards you created. Make sure to fully read section 4 for rules on card creation. If I approve of it, you can use the deck. You can’t use any other cards, such as Anime, Manga, TCG, and OCG cards. Sorry, this RP is meant to be an entirely new and unique YGO experience.

Your Sky Deck must contain cards that involve the use of Sky World and/or Mach Counters. You can't use one card in both decks; you must create a seperate set of cards for each deck.

I'll be posting Character Profiles in a separate thread. That thread will also be for OOC talk.

3) Factions: Heroes, Villains, and Supporters

You can pick your faction, but when it gets to the point where I think there is enough Heroes/Villains you’ll have to take a Supporter role. Sorry.

Heroes: Yippee! You’ve come to save the day, and kick some naughty highflying a**! Any Villain you defeat dies.

Benefits: Heart of the Cards. See section 5 for details.

Villains: You’re the main plot driver. Without you the Heroes would have nothing to do. Go plot some evil plans! Make sure to strategize in secret with your fellow terrorists; those Heroes can be real pesky.

Benefits: Doom Draw. See section 5 for details. Also, any opponent you defeat dies.

Supporter: You’re not evil, but that doesn’t mean you’re necessarily good either. You’re job is to be the annoying sidekick, that persistent hero’s rival; the all-tits fan girl, etc.

No benefits. You’re just supposed to be saved from the Villains at the last minute by the Heroes and be the plot filler.

4) Rules for Card Creation

Follow the law of Equivalent Exchange. Give a plant water and sunshine and it grows, pay a dollar for a bag of chips, etc. All cards created must give fair advantage.

For example, Fissure. It’s a 1 for 1. The card itself gets another card in return. Follow the same logic when making cards that give card advantage. X for X, not X for XX. You’re welcome to make cards that are counter productive card advantage wise, like XX for X. One example being One for One. It’s actually a 2 for 1, oddly enough.

x for x means that card destruction and the like can only be done to a number equal to (this is most often the case), or less than, the number of cards used to do that action. (With possible extrapolation based on undefined variables, like discarding your entire hand, which is never a set number.)

As for game-play advantage, that’s hard to really actually measure. Keep it clean please, don’t go overboard. My advice is to make it 1 card per 1 game-play element. Threatening Roar is a good example of this.

What about cards that give XXXXXXXetc but have very situational activation requirements? Well… that depends. I’ll take a look at ‘em and give you the OK if it passes.

If I see anything that’s broken, I’ll kindly ask you to edit the card(s).

If you’re creating entirely new card mechanics, please write full explanation on how they work. Otherwise, keep with preexisting IRL mechanics. So like, don’t go making a POOP Attribute just because you can. …. Don’t even dare. If I don’t approve it, it’s not allowed.

I’m not going to allow “I win” cards. Never. Unless I approve it because it’ll make an interesting plot twist or whatever.

You can use other sources for ideas, but card names must be original. For example, Pikachu would be Lightning Rat. So you can use other sources as inspiration, but I don't want to see any Ash Katsyrups wandering around throwing cubeballs. Nuh uh. Originality is highly valued.

Cards that use or involve Mach Counters can only be used in Sky Duels.

5) About Dueling

Follow the official game rules. Sorry, no 4000 LP and Defense Mode Normal Summons.

Except the Side Deck, there is no need for one. Like the Anime, it's single duels only. If we played actual matches, combined with all the role-playing required, they could take days to complete. No thanks. Since there are no real cards being used, there is no banned/restricted list. And as long as people follow the set rules given for card creation, there should never have to come a time to enforce one. So 3 of each card.

You can either Ground Duel (regular dueling) or Flying Duel (uses Sky World Field Spell card). You'll need a separate deck for each.

A Sky Duel begins with Sky World activated in both player's Field Spell Zones:

Sky World
Field Spell Card
The effects of this card can't be negated, and this card can't be removed from the field by card effects or be replaced with another Field Spell. Face-up cards on the field whose effects don't contain "Mach Counter" have their effects negated. You can pay 800 Life Points to place 1 Mach Counter on this card. Apply the following effects according to the number of Mach Counters you’ve placed on this card (they accumulate):
1: Monsters you control gain 500 ATK.
2: Monsters you control inflict piercing damage.
3: Halve the first Battle Damage you take during each Battle Phase.
4: You can discard 3 cards from your hand to select 1 monster you control. It can attack directly this turn.
5: Draw an extra card during your Draw Phase.

Heart of the Cards: Once per duel, instead of conducting your normal Draw Phase, you can add 1 card from your deck to your hand.

You may only “believe” in the Heart of the Cards if all the following conditions are met:
- You have less Life Points then your opponent, and your Life Points is equal to 4000 or less.
- You control less monsters then your opponent OR your opponent controls a monster with ATK or DEF higher then that of a monster you control with the highest ATK.

You must declare “Heart of the Cards!” or at any phrase that contains “Heart of the Cards” to let your opponent know you’re doing this. Because I say so.

Doom Draw: Once per duel, instead of conducting your normal Draw Phase, you can add 1 card from your deck to your hand.

You can only bring about your opponent’s inevitable death if all the following conditions are met:
- You control at least 3 monsters.
Yep. That’s it. Seems a bit TOO advantageous, right? Well, who ever said villains ever had to be fair? Muhuhahahaha!

Declare you're doing this by saying "This is the end! Doom Draw!" Yeah, you're pretty badass.

Duels are to take place over an Instant Messenger, fully role-played. Copy and paste the log into this thread for all to see. If you need to talk out of character during a duel, place "ooc:" at the beginning of your message.

7) Last Notes/Random Stuff/Updates

Anyone who dies by the hands of a Villain, directly or indirectly, goes to the Shadow Realm.

Villains defeated go to the Shadow Realm, and anyone that the Villain killed is brought back to life.

The plot is completely driven by the people participating in it. I may try to nudge it along by acting as a sort of Game Master. So, expect the unexpected. razz

Update September 19th 2010: Added more to card creation rules and about dueling sections. Thanks for the info, Sliver.

Added a tid bit to How to Join and more to About Dueling. Now you need a Sky Deck for Sky Duels and a Ground Deck for Ground Duels. ;0

Updates Nov 17 & 18: Adjusted the Heart of the Cards info, and did some clean up. Didn't think anyone would care for my humor, so I took the funny jokes out. Awwws.
