Zai felt her pocket vibrating as she ran through the darkened aisles of the asylum, sirens blaring, fading in and out, and red and yellow lights flashing in alert of the break in. Reaching the end of the hallway, she heard screaming and feet pounding the floor as guards chased her, rifles in their hands. Zai didn't even look back, instead, just slammed her shoulder as hard as she could against the door at the end of the hallway. It didn't budge. Covering her ears, the deafening siren was right above her, she turned around, facing the guards. Moving her hands, she bit her lip under her gas mask, glaring at them through the dreads that covered her down turned face. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out two vials that were opaque in color, Last shots... The men were wearing gas masks, not that those would be of any help in comparison to what was about to happen... Just as the first one raised his gun to shoot her, taking aim as he approached, Zai quickly bound the vials together with a rubber band that was around her wrist, and then threw them using her entire arm. The vials hit the ground, a loud explosion occurred and a thick dark brown gas filled the sealed off hallway. It was like a terrible fog, you could hardly see a foot in front of your face. The men started gagging, coughing, and after a few seconds, somewhere mixed in with the blaring sirens and flashing lights, she heard and saw the outlines of their bodies and their guns hit the floor.

Pulling out the cell phone that was still vibrating in her pocket, Zai flipped it open, holding it within inches of her eyes so she could see the screen through the thick smoke. Slamming it against the wall, Zai cursed under her breath, breaking the black and purple phone, identical to Dimitri’s, into several fragmented pieces. She was running out of time. Taking out the bottle of the strongest acid she had on her, Zai splashed it on the metal door, the acid eating away and dripping down gruelingly. Taking out a second bottle after the hole had gotten big enough, she splashed that, canceling out the acid so she could crawl through. To hell with damage. Pulling her body through, her neon and black PVC outfit shining in the lights and her platforms hitting against the floor, Zai ran as fast as she could down the next hallway, knowing exactly where Dimitri and Vega were located. Slowing down & breathing heavily through her black and neon purple gas mask with large silver spikes on it, she approached a window with bars bolted to the outside of it. She realized the stairs would be exactly where the main focus of the remaining guards would be. Zai kicked out the window with her boot, the glass shards falling outside and onto her feet. Dislodging the bars from their place with her last vial of acid, Zai flung one leg out the window, resting it on the ledge, and then pulled the rest of her body out. There was a rainstorm outside in the darkness of the night; the only visible light came from flashes of lighting. Thunder roared loudly from overhead, cold rain drops like hail crashing down on her head. Not even looking down, she turned her head towards the metal ladder attached to the side of the building, which was put there for fire escapes. Ironic. Reaching out with her right hand, holding onto the edge of the window, Zai's boot slipped a bit from under her, one of the bricks on the ledge crumbling and tumbling to the ground below. After a second, looking into the darkness, a flash of lightening appeared and her eyes locked back onto the ladder. Pushing herself off the wall, a moment in midair, she felt her hand touch the cool slippery metal. Just as her fingertips took hold, the rest of her body fell victim to gravity. Zai’ Hana’s grip tightened; she then raised her other hand up and took hold of the ladder. It was slick, but pulling herself up, she then continued to carefully climb up the until she reached the top floor.

Zai Hana held her body on the edge of the window seal, wet dreads covering her face as she pulled her body through the window.

Bashing through two swinging doors, she came into a large white room, with a ceiling about twenty feet high. Vega was standing across the room. Dimitri was in his cyber goth dress, lying face down on the ground. The sirens were not as loud up here, nor were there any flashing alert lights. From behind her, there was a large ‘SLAM’. Turning her head, the doors instantly locked and another door of heavy steel dropped down over them, sealing Zai, Dimitri, and Vega inside. There were no windows in this room, no open spaces, and only two vents on the ceiling above, which was clearly out of reach.

Taking in a few deep breaths, something didn’t feel right… then it hit her. Poisonous gas. Running over to Dimitri’s side, Zai fell to the ground on her knees, turning him over on his back violently, checking his pulse and opening his eye lids, slapping his cheeks, and checking the inside of his mouth and his fingertips. “Damn it, kid! Dimitri!” Her voice was almost frantic… very odd for Zai. She had instantly recognized what compound this gas was… Her head turned for a split second to look at the locked doors, and then up at the vents, trying to think of some way to get them out of there before it was too late.

A deep laughter came from behind her, and heavy footsteps from Vega slowly pounding against the cement floor approached her and the boy. The hair on the back of her neck stood on end. In a moment of knowing, Zai leaned over close to the boy; her black and white eyes lined with a deep purple eye shadow looked thoughtfully at Dimitri as he lay there unconscious on the ground… Water was still dripping down her soaking wet face and hair from the rain outside, a loud roar of thunder echoed through the room, which seemed dreadfully silent for that short moment. A few drops of water from Zai’s face landed onto Dimitri’s cheeks, slowly trailing down past to his neck. He was going to die. Zai didn’t know why, but before she could even think, she reached behind her neck and unbuckled the two locks which held her gas mask on her face, and pulling it from her mouth. She took both the customized “filters” from their places, and replaced them with two regular filters which rested in her pockets, attaching them with two loud ‘clicks’. Pressing the gas mask against his face, she adjusted it quickly behind his neck and tightly secured it as fast as she could. Turning him on his side, Zai quickly reached into her bag and took out one of the two guns she brought with her, taking it off safety and pulling the barrel back, she placed it under Dimitri’s hand, wrapping his fingers around the handle of the gun.

Just as she finished doing this, she stood up quickly, turning to face Vega who was now just about a yard away from her. The difference in their size was very evident, even despite her platform boots which still had fragments of glass sticking out from between the seams. Without her gas mask on, it was visible that Zai had a beautiful heart shaped face with perfect features… and her lips, which once use were naturally pink, now were metallic silver from the mercury poisoning which had extended her life so many years ago. Breathing shallowly, Zai Hana glared intensely at Vega, taking out a few syringes which she then held between her fingers in her right hand, grasping them firmly, her gaze not even hesitating.

Vega chuckled at the pathetic injections that Zai bore. The gas wasn't fazing him much; Herr Doktor had given him an antidote for it. Not that he really needed the backup. His body had a great immunity to poison.

This was all very amusing to him, like some sort of game. Charging at her, the brute shot out his muscular arm and took hold of her dreadlocks, dangling her in the air for a moment to give her a nasty grin. "You make my job so easy." He mused, swinging her body around and throwing the body into a wall with such force that it left a large crater where she had hit it. It was almost like throwing a little girls ragdoll.

Before he released her, Zai threw her arm up and jabbed all four syringes deep into his arm, violently forcing the neon liquids down into his veins. Being smashed against the wall, Zai collapsed to the ground, in shock. It took a few moments for the pain to kick in, and for her to realize how hard he had thrown her. Lying on the ground, her purple dreads covering her face, Zai sat up, leaning her back against the wall, a bit of blood dripping down her face from a few cuts on her head. Glaring at Vega, analyzing him, Zai Hana wrapped her arms around her waist, holding her rib cage. She smirked, a bit dizzy, but her eyes locked onto him as she pulled one knee up from under her. "Ha... not weak poisons." Her arm shaking badly, she reached out to the wall behind her, and painstakingly pulled herself up, coughing up more blood, which looked like liquid opal, onto the floor. Her eyes open wide, she now realized... the oxygen was killing her faster than she expected, with more oxygen getting into her veins through the few gashes on her head. She would be panicking... but Zai had already figured things were going to happen this way. "Strike one." She whispered to herself, taking the thumb nail from her left hand and scratching deep and slowly into her right arm. Pulling the nail out of the cut, you could see the 'nail polish' had come clean off. Closing her eyes, her limbs stopped trembling, and she stood up straight. All ya have to do is kill 'em... She took out a gun, twirling it in her left hand before taking a firm grip on it and holding her finger against the trigger. "Oy... How fast and strong are ya... After four injections o'poison, able ta kill an elephant with a single drop?" She didn't smirk, she merely stared coldly at him... waiting for him to move. Zai needed to see how much damage it had done, seeing as she already knew how fast the poisons acted.

While the poisons were strong and most likely killing him, Vega felt nothing. His step was a bit wobbly as he started to stagger over to where she was, fists clenched and eyes bloodshot. "Go on, shoot. I've been shot before. Maybe you'll even kill me. But it's much more likely you'll die first." Suddenly he remembered the bait and grinned. "But let’s have you die with a nice memory in your head." Daring over to Dimitri's body, Vega took one of his mighty hands and grabbed onto the boy’s face in an attempt to crush the mask and let the poison into his blood.

Zai didn't hesitate. Holding the gun straight up, arms steady, she shot several rounds at his wrist and up his arm, the bullets exploding on impact. Stepping towards him, she stopped shooting after she reached his shoulder, now side stepping to be on the other side of Dimitri, her black and white eyes glaring at him, her vision already slowly began to darken, and her eyes narrowed slightly. With her other hand, she reached inside her jacket and pulled out a bomb with a trigger, hooking her finger through it. "...aint got time for this. Crush that mask; I'll kill us all... I will reduce this place to less than ashes, Warwick and all." She coughed, the opal-like blood still dripping down her face... an interesting contrast against her neon purple dreads and mercury silver lips. The only reason she stopped, is that she counted... Now, she had used up all her exploding bullets, minus the ones loaded in the gun she left under Dimitri's hand. Poison bullets were all she had now, and apparently, Vega could feel no pain... Meaning it would be more than easy for her to miss any signals if he were near dying.

Vega's arm looked like ground meat now, but yet all he did was flinch. Most of the muscle and tendon was still attached, so he could still crush the mask at his own will. Giving out a deep laugh, the German rose and removed his hand from Dimitri's mask. "Herr Doktor is not in the building at the moment. We were expecting you after all, Fraulein Zai." Now Vega moved his foot to dangle over Dimitri's head. "If I die, the Doktor will revive me. Don't you see? I cannot be killed. For when I fall another will rise in my place. Better, stronger. So press the trigger. Kill us all for nothing."

"Gladly!" Zai shot back, from the look in her eyes and her tone, you could tell... she was serious. Zai Hana took a step over Dimitri's body, again within feet of Vega. She could care less if all of them died, if it were not for Lanius, she would of blew this whole place to hell, along with every single person inside, while she had the chance before. Now, she wished she had just gone on ahead and done it. Looking up at Vega as he towered above her in size, her vision suddenly darkened more. Zai stabbed the inside of her hand with the nail on her index finger, a quick rush, almost like adrenaline, almost instantly consuming her, her eyes widening a bit and the pupils shrinking back down in size. "Strike two." Lunging at him much quicker than expected, Zai opened the palm of her hand where she held the bomb, and scratched Vega across the chest while holding the gun securely against her side, drawing blood. Liver damage.

Vega thought the situation over. This woman was a loose cannon, a crazy b***h. While it didn't matter to him what happened to his body or hers, he did care about Warwick losing all of his work and research. That was something neither of them could afford. "Easy." The brute grunted, moving his foot from Dimitri's face. At this point Vega just had to stall long enough for her to die. And on that same note it had to be soon, otherwise that poison Zai had injected him with, plus the gas still flowing in the room would murder him in a heartbeat. "You're not the only one with toys Fraulein" He muttered with a grin, pulling his own injection from a pocket in his uniform. Very strong steroid would most likely cause his heart to burst open. Not that it mattered, that would grow back in time.

Zai saw him pull the syringe out from the corner of her eye, the question was, was it for him, or for her. Damn! She was right up against him, whoever he injected, this wouldn't be good. Tilting the barrel of the gun, she pulled the trigger. Unlike with the other shots, a sharp ring was heard as the bullet grazed through a layer of her clothing. Two bullets left, guy could crush me. The muscles in her stomach area throbbed, then she felt her muscles in her arms and legs grow tight and flex, her before simply smooth arms and legs now having some tone to them. She knew this effect would not last long... Maybe two minutes, if she was lucky. After that, permanent damage would sink into her muscles, seeing as this worked by her brain overriding her nervous system to use more muscle mass than nature allows. Zai Hana pushed herself off of him; actually managing to knock him back a bit as she did so. Landing in front of Dimitri one one knee, with the tip of her gun touching the ground, Zai Hana breathed shallowly, still nearly holding her breath as a burning sensation sinked into her lungs. If she went on ahead and scratched herself using two nails, it would prolong her second wind, but would give her less time. That was really all it came down to now for the two of them: who would die from the poisons first... or who could kill the other before they themselves breathed their last.

Vega was surprised with her new found strength, but didn't let it deter him. Quick as a bolt, he had the needle in his arm and was pushing down on the plunger. The injection was revitalizing, like having raw power pumped his heart. The German laughed manically and clenched his fist, the veins on his body popping madly. The brute's fist shot forward like a bullet, striking Zai in the chest and knocking her a good seven feet back.

Instinctively Zai folded her arms over her chest, hardly doing so before he hit her. Hitting the ground with a 'THUD' and bouncing back a bit, Zai quickly forced herself up on her knees, putting the bomb she held before into her mouth, biting down on it. He was just so slow before that attack after I injected him. Those must of been steroids, yeah. She scratched deep into her arm using her middle finger and her index finger, she mumbled past the bomb, "Strike three, strike four." Blindness, liver failure, permanent damage to muscular and nervous systems.... Her heart began pacing faster and harder, and all the physical sensations of pain she had felt before vanished completely. Heart damage... Now, the only fingernail she had where the polish was left to extend her life was her smallest finger... This was painted a neon alerting red. She clinched her fist. After that, it was game over. Rising to her feet, Zai Hana quickly raised her arm and fired one of the two remaining shots at him.

The bullets hit hardly and Vega's heart began to beat with a wild sort of fury. It felt like a jackhammer in his chest, but no matter. He must kill Zai now, before it was too late. Like a great iron train, the large German ran at her, feet like hammers on the linoleum floor. He caught her neck between his fingers and slammed her against the wall, pinning her in place by the neck. Slowly his grip tightened, he was going to strangle her.

Zai gagged, the bomb dropping out of her mouth to the floor. Zai Hana thrashed her arm against him and clawed deep into his wrist, taking firm hold. This was it. This was the moment she had been waiting for. Without breathing, a small grin came across her silver lips. Raising the gun point blank at him as he had his hands around her neck, Zai looked down the barrel at him and chuckled, a strain in her voice, she said "See ya... in hell." and pulled the trigger…. The gun jammed. Her smile quickly vanished as she looked down at her hand, almost something like horror, shock, or anger in her eyes. Pulling her arm back, she hurled the gun at his head as hard as she could without a second thought, moving both her hands to violently ripping his hands away from her throat, glaring at him straight in the eye as she did so and putting out all her strength. Managing to pull his hands just about an inch away from his neck, Zai then slammed her body against his, kneeing him in the crotch and locking her nails up under his jaw violently. Then, she felt it. How hard and fast his heart was beating. She realized the doubled edged nature of this. A grin coming across her face, a bead of sweat dripped down through the blood and past her dread locks as she still glared up at him. Zai Hana murmured under her breath, "s**t..." Now, for the first time in this fight, she was in a panic, and at a loss of what to do. She had no weapons left, no poisons, nothing.

Vega doubled over a slight bit when Zai kneed him in the groin. He had a high pain tolerance sure, but that s**t still hurt! Filled with a fury like no other, he slammed his fist into her chest and smashed her to the ground. Before she could even react, the brute brought his massive leg up and drove it down onto her right knee cap as hard as he could. There was a sickening crack as the bone shattered in her leg, leaving a mass of bruised and broken flesh where it had been. The second the foot connected with the ground, it rose up again, this time aiming for her left knee.

Because of the last scratches she had done, she felt no pain; however, Zai did hear the large 'crack' of her bones breaking. Before he could strike down again, Zai Hana pulled herself away, then trying to get up, fell forwards, her right leg giving out. She had to look down before realizing how badly her leg knee was smashed in, pools of opal blood pouring out from where the bone had broken through the skin. More oxygen in her system, and less blood. Gotta hold off on the last nail, after that, I'm done for... No. Not an option. Placing her left hand, which was shaking violently, against her right arm, Zai Hana squeezed her hand tight, letting out a very shaky breath. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she looked over at Dimitri, who was still peacefully lying on the ground, wearing Zai's gas mask, and holding her gun under his hand. A very... personal, intimate thing. That mask... she had given him her life. Her frantic facial expression calmed, blood and sweat on her skin. Yeah... that was why.... I've lived longer than any human should. Pushing the last nail deep into her skin, Zai felt a nearly stinging sensation rushing through her veins. Oy, Reaper... a good two hundred years late on ya, thought ya couldn't handle me. Ya probably still can’t. Still down on her knee, her body began healing itself rapidly. Holding her hands tight around her shattered knee, it was bound to heal wrong, but at least she would be able to move. Too bad for both of us, huh?

Seeing the healing process on Zai increase only infuriated Vega more. Yelling some sort of unintelligible gibberish, he flung himself at Zai, ready to finish her off. He grabbed her small frame his large meaty hands and raised her high into the air. He was going to smash her head into the ground, he wanted to see her brain splattered across the floor, he wanted to ruin that smirking little face of hers and bash it until there was nothing left of her except a bleeding neck stump. Tightening his grip, he brought his arms down in an arc to bring her head to the ground. When Zai's head was just inches from the linoleum floor, something gave a light bursting noise. Everything seemed to stop. Vega started to vomit out blood onto the floor, some of it landing on Zai. His grip weakened and her body dropped to the ground next to him. More blood came up, it had stained his teeth a dark gruesome red. His eyes started fill with blood as well, coming out of his sockets and dripping down his ace like tears. Finally Vega stopped breathing, choking on his own vomit and collapsing on top of Zai. He twitched slightly before his body finally gave out and lay motionless on the floor. His heart had burst open, he was dead.

Zai pushed him off of her, crawling out from underneath him. Taking out a small timer from her bag, and checking the time, she tossed it aside, not even so much as looking down at Vega. I’ve got about five minutes… Zai Hana moved over to Dimitri’s side, kneeling down beside him. Turning him over, she first checked to make sure the mask was still secure, and then checked his pulse. Normal, strong. She checked his eyes. No coma. She leaned her head over and listened to the inside of his chest. Breathing normal. She felt his ribs, arms, legs, and head. No broken bones. Reaching into her bag, Zai took out a few syringes… Weak, fairly nothing drugs. Injecting him with them, she hoped the caffeine and other mixes would wake him up faster, and give him the strength he needed to get out of there. She had taken care of most of the guards… And she had taken care of Vega. Zai’s body began to ache, as the chemicals from her nail polish which caused her to feel no pain began to wear off. Pulling out a small first aid kit, she quickly wrapped his wounds and treated any cuts.

Just as she finished bandaging the last cut, a rush of pain surged through Zai Hana’s body like electricity. Dropping the kit, she gripped onto her head which throbbed with pain and stood up, stumbling across the room. Her legs, chest, arms, every muscle in her body feeling as though it were on fire and being torn apart. Almost like blinking an eye, she was on the ground lying on her side, gripping and tearing her nails into her head; Zai had not even realized that she had been screaming. Her lungs felt like they had turned to stone, and she stopped screaming as it grew nearly impossible to breath. Zai Hana’s eyes were open wide, her heart was pounding like there was no tomorrow. Her body shaking madly, Zai put her hand under her and tried to push herself up, looking over at Dimitri, focused only on him. Her eyes closed as she only got to resting on one elbow, as blood started pouring out of her mouth like a fountain. Opening her eyes, Zai Hana watched helplessly as the opal liquid hit the floor. The room and the floor felt like it was tilting and spinning. Falling back down on her side, Zai moved her hands to almost tearing at her throat, making gurgling noises as she tried so hard to breathe through the blood flow, and despite her horribly pained lungs which could hardly take in a breath as it was. Still shaking terribly and blood pouring out of her mouth, she tried to calm herself down and turn her attention away enough from the situation so she could think straight. Was there anything else left for her to do? ......No… I got it. She turned her head down so her cheek, which was covered with tears, sweat, and blood, touched the floor, and so she could still see Dimitri. Despite the pain, and despite being moments away from death, Zai Hana found herself smiling. Her vision grew like looking through a tunnel at night, filled with fog and dimly lit. Moving her right hand from her neck, she outstretched her arm toward Dimitri, using her fingers to move it across the floor in his direction. As everything else faded away into darkness, he was the last image she could make out. “Dimitri…” Zai managed to hardly gasp out, although she knew he could not hear her. In an instant, she could see nothing. Then, over the course of what felt like, to her, several minutes, each one of her senses slowly shut down. Before her last sense, her hearing, gave way into death… Zai faintly heard the sound of Dimitri moving up off the ground, and the crushing sound of thunder from the storm. Until that last split moment, nothing else other than Dimitri and caring for his safety had even crossed her mind.

Life itself became forever out of reach as Zai Hana's life slipped away into death... the never ending sleep.

This cold shell lay on the ground. The skin, as the human once known as the infamous Zai Hana, the Drug Flower, turned a white grey color, as the veins throughout her entire body showed through her skin as though it were translucent, even on her face. Her fingertips were blue. Her body, although dead, still had its glazed over eyes open, looking over at where Dimitri now began to wake up. Her mouth was closed, drying blood like liquid opal pooled underneath it, which had moments before worn a small smile for unknown reasons, now existed expressionless. The female’s long hair, which had been fashioned in neon purple dread locks, covered none of her face. Dried blood, red and silver, covered her fingertips. Bits of shattered glass are embedded into her boots, and there are two bullet holes, although no found injuries due to a gunshot, on the black and neon PVC shirt she wore on her upper torso. The corpse lay on its back, with the right arm stretched out towards where the young boy named Dimitri, and the bloodied corpse of a human who worked under Dr. Warwick, once known as Vega, lay face down just yards away from the female corpse. Cause of death: unknown.

Note: Thank you Noah for writing up Vega's parts and for being awesome in helping me write and proof read it, same with when you did so for Warwick in the last fan fic ^^
