and it gets on my nerves each time because I make sure to spell my name out and enunciate clearly. (And that's just 20 years so far; I fully expect this to go on even after I've died.)
school, hospital, jobs, govt.-related things, normal people, etc.
It happens most often whenever I go to the hospital, which is really awkward because I know that there is a girl who has the last name that they think is mine and shares my full first name. (I keep having to get tests redone because they put my results in her file.)
Since when does L look like T. (I write in all caps when filling out forms in hopes of not having the mistake happen with my last name, but it still does.)
Sorry for ranting, but it just really bugs me. I hate people sometimes.

I can't count how many different ways people have spelled my name. I just shrug it off. As long as they can say it semi-correctly and people understand that its me... its fine. Unless if its something like a deploma or something. >:I then I get mad. lol

@bry: omg don't get me started on my parents re: my name omg. Dx I'm lucky if they don't call me by my late brother's name or my younger sister's name or the guinea pigs names!
@Hisaki: I shrug it off for the most part, but it's been happening on some pretty damn important stuff more often in the past two years.
@Kira: Your status update is what inspired this thread, lol.
@MFG: I kind of wish that my parents had named me what they want to. It's a unique name that I think people would remember just because of that.

My name is super simple but people still ask me how to spell it all the time ._.
The funny part is a Korean guy who doesn't know English spelled my name correctly without asking. Why can't the English speakers ._.

Dude, my name is Kate and people still get that wrong. It especially sucks when you're meeting a lot of new people. (I swear to god, if I get called Katie one more time...) But my best friend and I share the same name. which is nice and confusing at the same time.

My name's spelled with an 'i' intead of the traditional 'ey', so that used to be mistaken quite a lot. I say used to because I haven't had to verbally introduce myself to someone since high school.
It's a lot more common for people to mispronounce my last name: the vowells are silent, you just pronounce the consenents(sp?)

I always remember your last name!
No one ever misspells my name. They do however make a Godfather of Soul joke every SINGLE time. It's gotten to the point that when I introduce myself or my friends introduce me, it's always James Brown, Yes That Is My/His Real Name.

I know how hard that can be. Apparently Traynham is as difficult to say as it is to spell LOL. TRANTHOM, TRAINHAM, TRANHAM, TRAYHAN Get it right fools it is kind of important. hell next time i get something that doesn't have my name spelled right i will refuse to accept it rather it be a bill or otherwise.

Hero Of Three Kingdoms hell next time i get something that doesn't have my name spelled right i will refuse to accept it rather it be a bill or otherwise. I've done that a couple of times. It wasn't the best way of dealing with my situation, but it got the message across to a couple of businesses.

Having your name spelled wrong is one thing, but when your own parents call you 2-3 other names BEFORE they call you by the right name, that's super annoying. I'M REBECCA!! Not Jessica, not victoria, not Makayla, but REBECCA!!
And yesterday my boss asks me how to spell my new last name, but he ASSUMES my name is spelled Rebekea..... seriously? My name is spelled like most other Rebeccas out there. He had to guess, and I noticed only when I sign my time clock page. I told him and he was like 'oh'.
Stupid >.>
