I'm not sure if this is the actual name for it but have you prayed in tongues? Sorry to the non-Korean speakers or readers but this is what I'm talking about: 방원. If you know the actual name for it, please translate it. To describe it I'd say it's like when you pray in jibberish but not by your own force. Hope that description helps..

Cool~ What's it like?

It is awesome, its very intimate. It just you speaking directly to God in a way that only your spirit knows how to. It the out cry of my soul to God, when my words don't have a way to say what I am feeling. I remember the first time i spoke in tongue I just started weeping, I was filled with so much Joy and Peace. The Holy Spirit was just overflowing it was so awesome. heart biggrin

I don't believe in 'praying in tongues' unless another person can interpret the prayer which is important to remember.

I'm mostly sure I have, and it's a wonderful experance. Once it was at a youth group trip, and I was so filled with the Holy Spirit I couldn't stop crying, and when I prayed, there weren't really any words that I said, I just felt peace and emotions and spoke with my emotion.

The other time, I was sleeping, and -this actually can happen, but Satan usually tries more tactful ways to attack us- I dreamed Satan was chasing me and I couldn't get away, and the only way I could get away was wake up. So while I was dreaming I called on God to save me and wake me up, and he did. When I did wake up I felt so relieved, and the heavy Evil went away. This has happened at least four times, and somehow I just spoke to God asking Him to save me from the demons in my dreams, and he has.

The Bible tells us that speaking in tongues is/was strictly an event where God uses a person to speak a language completely unknown to them. He then raises another person to interpret the message. In all occurances in the Bible, this happened in front of a large group of people as a miracle, and was used only in cases that it carried an important message from God of how to better the church.

I believe it can still happen, but has not in several years. The world is so corrupt that i feel any mesage God sent that way would get garbled beyond recognition, just as I feel God's time for prophesy is not now. It was around, and Revelations gives evidence that it will be around in the end times. but neither of those times are the present.

To add to that, some churches out there almost make speaking in tongues a requirement for being a Christian. Sure, you can accept Christ but unless you are speaking in tongues, you really aren't saved.
Tongues is just another one of the spiritual gifts. The people who can speak it are just as special, just as talented as the ones that cannot. The ones that can't have been blessed with a different gift. Besides, I would much rather speak tounges like at the pentecost, not a language no one can understand but God and a possible inturperater but a language EVERYONE can understand. That is the tongues I wish I could speak!
