Otherworld The demon sprinted through the rubble, dodging the bodies. A single touch from him would bring them back. They would try to fufill the purpose they had been born to fufill almost as though they didn't even realize they were dead. Suddenly the demon stopped, sat in the street, and gave a lengthy sigh. He must have been behind the armies, as evry time he moved on there had been a battle fought already and the innocent people lay dead through the streets, the soldiers sometimes mingles throughout them. The demon had left home, denying his family for shame of these powers, but what could he do? Try to find a place to escape death?
He stared from where he sat, over the expanse from there to a tree that drooped sadly, clearly lacking water and dying. Nowadays in Gail it never rained. Not since Tomi had started sleeping and not since Nalo had left the world altogether for more important things she had left behind. He sighed once more and stepped carefully over to the tree, looking down at its base to see a young man with stubborn black hair and dead green eyes lying atop a young woman with silky brown hair whose eyes were closed, her dirty face still showing the streaks from her tears.
He reached out, not even realizing it to close the man's eyes. He knew him. It was his prince, Louis it was, only he wasn't Louis at this time. He wasn't Majiin, Quinn, or Vincent at this time and he suddenly wished he knew his name. He was suddenly pulled from this thought as he realized slowly, almost as if in a drunken state. I've touched him... And his face conorted to a horrified gape at the body, it's bluish eyelids now closed over the deadened eyes. Oh, Lord... I've touched him... He stumbled backward, narrowly missing the body of a demon soldier. His face was that of a lion and he seemed to have died mid-roar.
He turned back to look at the prince. He lay still beneath the tree and for a moment the demon wondered if his powers had not worked on him. He gave a sigh of relief and moved the hand that had subconciously moved to the crossbow at his hip.
He straitened his black, tight-fitting coat and was just making his way out of town when he heard the raspy breathing behind him. His eyes narrowed, filling with a sort of sorrow and he turned to see the prince now kneeling, the arrow that had pierced both him and his lover sticking out from his chest, and staring down at the girl.
The demon looked at his prince, observing the bluish skin that replaced the former glowing white. He noted the veins that were clearly visible and he gave a thought of sympathy as his living corpse caressed the face of his fallen love. The prince's head turned, the rest of him staying oddly stiff to stare at the demon. "Whyyyy..." He he said in a whisper, the wind seeming to lengthen the one word that seemed so awefully sad that the demon was struck dumb by it for what seemed like hours. He lifted the crossbow. "It's the rules, my friend." And the last sound the demon heard for many days was the haunting sound of the arrow cutting through the air and the dull whunk noise as it hit the prince's corpse. He watched sadly as the prince fell and couldn't help but have tears gather in his eyes.
He had never had the dead speak to him before.

Quote: He wasn't Majiin, Quinn, or Vincent at this time and he suddenly wished he knew his name. I started a book with a friend in a series called Gail and one of our main characters is named Majiin (Ma-Jin) He is from a clan of demons that obtain special powers from markings on their backs. Majiin's is the mark of the phoenix so he has healing powers and is reborn after he dies. The demon narrator is naming Majiin from different lives that he has lived. He has been reborn at this point and is not Majiin anymore. Quinn is from a book I am writing called "The Twins" Vincent will be written into a story eventually and Louis was the life that was first lived by the demon mark of the phoenix. I have another story that is a bout Louis that I will post if anyone's interested in reading it.

Quote: Not since Tomi had started sleeping and not since Nalo had left the world altogether for more important things she had left behind. Ok. As I stated earlier, I am writing a series of books called Gail. Tomi and Nalo are names that I gave to myself and my co-author for the last book of the series. ((This little entry is the first book of the second series. I'm getting way ahead of myself. mrgreen )) But at the end of the last book in Gail Tomi (me) goes to sleep underneath a tree (The tree has a lot of significance, but I really don't want to spoil it for anyone who might buy the books from the series. mrgreen ) But anyways, Tomi goes to sleep and Nalo (My co-writer) goes back from Gail to Earth. Gail is a world sustained by the first dreams of newborn infants and Tomi's dreams. Tomi is in a "dreamless" sleep, basically because she's only having nightmares. Otherworld is Gail's sisterworld and it is sustained by nightmares. Since Tomi is no longer dreaming, Gail is no longer in perfect order and Otherworld is becoming much stronger and striving to take over Gail.

((Here'sthe one about Louis))
Majiin and Kaede were not always Majiin and Kaede
When Gail had first begun, they were Louis and Silvia.
Louis was a demon prince in Otherworld. Silvia was an angel in Gail beloved by her brethren. Louis was envied by his for his immortality.
Louis made several trips into Gail from Otherworld, the barrier between the two worlds only opened to the royalties and only when there was a matter to be discussed. Louis broke this agreement repeatedly, as his visits were always miscellaneous and he discussed nothing with no one.
Silvia was an innocent angel that spent her time beneath the branches of the tree that served as the vessel for the spirit of Gail itself. The woman that had birthed the entire world from her dreams. She would sit beneath the tree amidst the gnarled roots that formed a snug chair around her. She would make crowns of flowers and speak to the tree, receiving no answer but the happy aura that she sensed radiating off of the tree. She spent every day beneath that tree and watched the towns at the base of the hill that Gail's spirit rested on.
Fate happened upon the both of them.
In one of Louis' visits to Gail he happened upon the tree that Silvia was resting beneath. He went circling overhead and swooped silently into the branches above Silvia. Almost as though she sensed his presence there, she woke from her rest and looked about her. Gail, realizing what was possible between the youths, gave the branch that Louis was perched upon a swoop and sent him tumbling to the ground beside Silvia.
They both sprang to their feet and stood staring at one another.
After a few minutes Silvia stepped forward and introduced herself. Louis did the same and they sat together beneath Gail's branches and talked for hours before Louis finally said that he had to return home, but he would return tomorrow.
They continued meeting each other underneath the tree and their friendship soon evolved into a romance.
There was an angel that became curious on the new sort of happiness that seemed to envelope Silvia. She hid herself in the branches of Gail's tree and watched Silvia as she waited for Louis. When he came, the spy had to suppress the gasp, not to mention a cry of anger as the two below greeted one another with a kiss and sat together beneath the branches.
The spy waited until Louis and Silvia had kissed goodbye and well on their way apart before leaving the treetop, a branch snagging the skin of her leg almost as though it had actually meant to hurt her.
No sooner had the spy angel told the rest did the angel masters call a meeting between the Onigaa demons of Otherworld.
When Silvia was leaving her room that night she overheard the discussion going on between the demons and her brothers and sisters. Realizing that she had been found out she listened intently to the conversation. She heard one of her brothers start, his deep voice holding great sadness, "The only way to punish Silvia for this crime is to remove her wings. She may no longer be an angel for romancing with a demon." She covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes beginning to gather tears. She then heard an unfamiliar voice, "My son has taken part in the crime as well. What do you suggest we do about him?"
Silvia was shocked when she heard her brother's answer. "Your usual method of handling these situations is death." Louis' father was silent. Silvia did not wait another moment before she wade her way silently from her home down to Gail's tree and sat beneath the branches crying into her knees. She heard a twig above her crack and Louis came tumbling down onto the ground beside her. "You have to hide." He said quickly. Silvia asked why and crawled over to him, needing his embrace more than anything at that moment. He held her and stared into the sky as it's light purple color started to darken and glint with weaponry and the inhabitants of Otherworld swooped down into Gail.
Silvia had her tear-stained face upturned for a long moment before asking why they had crossed the barrier and broken the agreement that they had held all these years. "They know about us. And they know that your brothers and sisters plan on killing me, their prince. They won't have it. We're going to war, Silvia. Hide. Now." Louis' voice sounded beyond breathless. Silvia simply crawled backward to Gail's roots. Louis followed her and stayed beside her, keeping a close watch for when the armies would get too near and trying to think of any sort of way they might be able to escape when they did come.
The angel masters and the Onigaa demons made haste to Gail's tree. Louis stood between them and Silvia. His demon wings were spread in fury and his eyes were fearful. Louis' family stood silently as the angel masters advanced upon Louis. They tried to explain, calm but stern, that the bond that had formed between him and Silvia was strictly forbidden. Louis' retort was a question. What harm had it done until they tried to take action? He then told them to look around. Both worlds were falling apart. This was not his, nor was it Silvia's, fault.
Silvia's brother gazed, infuriated, at the boy. He uttered a single word. Impertinence.
Two angels had gone around the tree and were very near Silvia. Gail's vessel raised its roots to form a shelter around the girl. Louis saw this as his moment of opportunity. He began to transform into his demon self. His family rushed forward and Louis' own father ran him through. The blade of his spear stuck into the shelter around Silvia and she saw the blood begin to seep through and gave a cry.
Louis' father pulled the spear away and through the space it made Silvia saw Louis fall to the ground. She watched her family advance upon him. She watched as he fought them. Watched as two of her brothers were slain at his hands. She felt sorrow over her family and sorrow over her lover. And her heart shattered as Louis was stabbed once more and he fell helpless to the ground.
Silvia started to scream. She screamed sorrow, hate, rage, and helplessness. The shelter around her pulled away and she ran to Louis as he leaned on the spear. He was cover in cuts and blood and Silvia found a new sort of strength as she snapped the end of the spear and dragged Louis off of it. She held his head against her chest and wept over him.
Her family was not finished yet. They stepped forward and grabbed her roughly. Her brother stood her up and stared at her. She was looking as her love's head fell from her hands and hit the ground and turned to her brother. She glared at him with all measures of hate and spat at him. Her sisters turned away in shame. Her brother wiped her spit from his face and slapped her, leaving her face wet with it, and spun her around. Her wings came forth and he requested a torch. Silvia screamed and tried to run, but her brother held her and soon the torch was held to her lovely white wings.
Gail's tree stood over them and as Silvia screamed in pain, burning inside and out, it started to rain. Soon it was pouring down rain and Silvia's wings were reduced to a shapeless, ugly mass. She reached behind her and tore at the pieces, throwing them at her brother, at her sisters, at Louis' family until there was nothing left of them. She then crawled through the sopping wet grass to Louis and held him to her.
She dragged his body underneath the shelter of Gail's branches and rested his head in her lap, her tears of pain mingling with her tears of sorrow. She kept her head bowed and the angels prayed for forgiveness, but the deed had to be done. The Onigaa stared as what was left of the inhabitants of Otherworld returned home. Silvia's brother stared at Gail's tree and stepped towards it.
He touched the bark with trembling hands and gazed in wonder at the branches and how they seemed to droop with sadness. He stabbed the earth beside the tree with the sword on his back and a small beam of light shot into the air. beyond the clouds one could see bright purple light and the Onigaa demons gazed in mild confusion at the angel. He nodded to them and beckoned his family come home.
The Onigaa tried to do the same, but found instead that a permanent boundary had been set. They were stuck in Gail forever.
They went back to the tree and could not remove the sword. They were furious with the angels, but had no way of entering heaven to seek revenge. They simply left the tree to take advantage of the burning places below and soon established a kingdom.
Louis was dead and Silvia was all alone beneath Gail's branches when she thought she sensed someone standing beside her. She looked up to find a lovely woman beside her. The gown she wore had the color and apparent texture of tree bark. She looked at the woman's face. She had a lovely mouth that was the same shade of red as leaves changing colors. Her hair was yellow with bits of orange and red like leaves that had already fallen. She realized that this was the spirit of the tree that she had grown to care for. The woman sat beside her and reached out a fair hand, touching Louis' face.
"He'll be reborn. You know that." She said quietly, "He told you way back when the two of you first met." Gail's gaze was sad. Silvia raised Louis' head to her shoulder and pressed her cheek against his forehead. "I want to be reborn." She whispered, "and I want to find him." Gail smiled at her and touched her face, wiping her tears away gently. Silvia felt warmth surge through her body.
"So it shall be." Gail said, "I've spent enough time watching the both of you to know how you've come together so far. His life was cut short and you will be able to recover now. Knowing that when you pass, you will find him when you are reborn. You will remember nothing of this life, but your wish is granted. You will see him again." Gail then stood and sank back into the tree. Silvia was left alone again.
Because of the permanent barrier put on the sky of Gail that disallowed that Onigaa back into their home, Louis' was reborn in the clan of demons back in Gail.
The war, although short, killed many from Gail and many from Otherworld. All knew when Louis had been killed because those from Otherworld immediately stopped fighting and stared in the direction of Gail's tree.
Silvia's brothers and sisters found her with her throat slit and the spear head that had killed Louis in her hand.
