We all by now have heard the song 'Alejandro' and there has been some slight controversy about the meaning of the song. Is it blasphemy? Is it making fun of religon? Here is an actual quote from Gaga herself "it requires envy and courage for a gay couple to be together and I wanted to potray that myself in the video." In the video Gaga is with a group of soldiers in a cabaret, dancing to the song. This is coupled with Gaga swallowing a rosary and half-naked men carrying machine guns. well i don't know about envy but It does take Courage and pride for a gay couple to exist. Well, first of all the song it self is not against God or any religion, but I'm not really sure about what the song is about, all i know is it's about love. But in the video, it might be against the Catholic faith since she swallowed a rosary, but i found out that the rosary is not blesses, nor was it bought, it was custom made, so I don't think it's really blasphemy, I'm a Catholic and I'm not really offended by this video, but I still love God. So I don't think that the video is really against Christianity, The video of Like a prayer by Madonna was more against God since it showed burning crosses, Anyways I still love Gaga and I still Love God and nothing in this world will stop me from loving them

u no lady gaga is talented and awsome ppl r startin 2 try 2 crash her career??!! not gona happen she iz independent and confident plus the alejandro video had stuff from alota madonna videos and she iz a ntha talented artist so hate on that press

ive seen an interview on her and she says that the song alejandro is talking about her fear of sex. and the whole album deals with inner demons like fear of sex etc.

I love the video...alot of ppl dont like it cus they dont get that Lady Gaga is different. She makes these videos weird but when have you seen another singer take the risk of making a video and it turning out bad...Lady Gaga Rocks for that... heart heart heart heart 4laugh 4laugh

The video is purely for entertainment and I laugh at anyone who tries to say otherwise (like making fun of religion, etc) and anyone who thinks she's from the Illuminati. They are laughable. Lady Gaga herself is a strong Catholic so I don't think she'd be making fun of her own religion. She uses symbols and meanings to entertain and I just... want to laugh at people who take it seriously.

Bad? No. Is it one of her better songs? Absolutely not! She has so many amazing songs that would have been better singles to release than Alejandro. Aka Monster and Teeth! I love love love paper gangster as well.

I think:
This video shows how religion persecutes the gay lifestyle and shoves their beliefs down their throats. GaGa is just saying how gay men are just as affectionate and powerful as straight men. It's so much more serious and meaningful than her previous videos.
I believe that Alejandro was killed by gay soldiers for being straight (sort of a reversal from reality). Lady GaGa is carrying Alejandro's heart and his coffin is behind her. Lady GaGa takes over the army (sort of like Hitler or Joan of Arc) and forces the men to become straight. She tries to get revenge on them for killing Alejandro, but in the end, they revolt and kill her. This is what I believe is the basic plotline.
While the soldiers are training, they show clips from the StoneWall riots which were a gay rights movement. We see more of this when Alejandro is alive and walking through the streets during the riot.
I love this video!!! It deserves 11/10 stars!!

The video is ok, but I'm absolutely positive Lady GaGa would've done better. The videos Paparazzi and Telephone were much better.

@The Fall is Inevitable, because the catholic church (which is what i think she was referring to) shuns gays, and i think she's trying to say they are sort of "afraid" of what they don't know

Alejandro just so happens to be one of my favorite songs! yes there has been some argument over this song... because she does somethings in the video that may be offending but that is the video, not the song. If you are going to be offended by her, you shouldn't be watching her music videos anyway! Anyone who gets mad at me saying this can byte me... This song is defiantly not about making fun of any religion + she's religious herself too, and gaga is just not that person who makes fun of anybody. I think it's a good and inspiring video and i love that it's about gays because like she also said it takes courage for a gay couple to be together, well at least for some. I really don't think there is anything more hidden materials in the video because or else she would've told... that’s just what i think.
