What set you on the path? What compounded you to make this choice? Has it made a difference in your life? How has it? And how have you grown from it?

I'm very new to Wicca, first day actually. I would like to hear your experieces, your dreams and desires. I'm on somewhat of a quest of self discovery. But I can't afford to travel, so here I am. Please be honest, and if you have any tips for a noob (to Wicca), feel free to PM me.

Thank you.

hey!!!
well I have been a pagan for 7 years. I don't consider myself Wiccan. I started studying the path when I was about 12 and did a self initiation at 13. I grew up into a pagan family. You pm for links on astral travel which was kind of hard to find because my mom taught me.

I don't know why I am pagan except that if just fit with who I am. It is a part of me and feels like it is apart of my soul. I have looked at other religions but none of them has made me feel as fulfilled as pagan.

My advice to you as a young Wiccan is to learn as much as you can. Read everything you can get your hands on, talk to people, read websites, forums, everything. If something does not feel right to you keep searching. Though that does not give you the right to be ignorant and to refuse fact. Learn about the beliefes, the history, the traditions, and whether you think this path is for you. You should ask yourself why do I want to be Wiccan? What does this mean to me? I would also suguest that you look through this guild because there is a lot of information along with looking through the link list. Especially I think you should read the little witch story posted here. It might give some insight to what being Wiccan is all about. Wicca is not just a religion, it is a way of life.

I draw heavily from Wicca, but as I do not in prime honor the Lord and Lady, I can't in good mind call myself Wiccan. My own curiosity set me on the path. I was reading something for a class and it had the word "Pagan" in it and it struck me I didn't know precisely what that meant. So I looked it up. Then I remembered Wicca was a form of Paganism and I knew a very nice girl who was Wiccan (who unfortunately relocated before we could develop a deeper friendship).

Nowadays I usually just say I practice earth-based spirituality or am a follower of Gaia. The difference is extreme. Greater peace. All my philosophies finally mesh into one web that has a name. I've been attaining what religion is supposed to be about; it isn't something you can compartamentalize away from yourself. It's so completely part of yourself that if you remove it, you're... well... dead.

I agree with the advice Ivy threw out. Seriously, read, read, read. Part of being in a Neopagan religion involves taking personal responsiblity for your beliefs and your spiritual path. It isn't going to be handed to you on a silver platter... you've got to do some serious work! I suggest that if you have a local bookstore that has a decent New Age section and comfy chairs (like B&N) to take trips there, sit, and read. That's what I did. Also check out your local public library and a college/university if you have one. As you read, bear in mind the source of the information. Be discerning.

Don't be reluctant to step away form Wicca, too, if you find something else in your seraches that seems interesting. Wicca is the most out-there of the Neopagan religions, but there are others that might gel with you better.

My mother is a witch. I grew up on a small gulf island and there was a circle there. They would have open circles on festival days and various members of the island community would come but also there were some times when the core circle would gather and it was totally private and everything felt tingly in the air when they were done, so I kind of grew up with a sense of deeper mystery to things especially since sometimes at monthly gatherings when I was little I got to have jobs like carrying a sun and moon around the circle, ringing bells and shaking rattles and arranging the alter (I liked to make it pretty), I thought it was so fascinating to watch my mother and the others cast the circle and since they were experienced witches all of them I liked feeling the big bubble of energy come down around me.

I didn't think about it much for many years, it was just in the background always there, but I started becoming very interested in science, especially space, and I discovered quantum physics. That was my focus for a long time but then my mom gave me this ring one day, it was her special ring she had had it custom made in gold and silver with the celtic never-ending lines, and I could feel the tingle around it again and kind of remembered how much I had enjoyed scattering rose petals and arranging mysterious items in the center.

My mom gave me this diary she had kept while she had... altered the ring. It was amazing to see what a experienced witch could do, reading over her accounts and what happened. Some strange, strange things had happened as she worked on the ring and I knew I believed in what she was doing so I started thinking "How can this be?" and reached the conclusion that my quantum physics and her witchcraft were not far from each other at all. It all comes down to basic energy. Now I'm sort of picking things up again a bit and taking a interest again in all of it.

I think of myself as a kind of quantum pagan, and see no conflict there. My primary focus is still space and time, the interwoven lines on my ring I think of as standing for the dimensions.

Oops, I rambled. sweatdrop

Well Cabbage I am a begginer like you, but I just seem to focus on the religion and spirituality of Wicca, other than the magic aspect of it. I dont even consider myself a Pagan or a Witch or a Wiccan yet. I just believe mostly in the Lord and the Lady and pray about once every two days. I have an altar with amethyst in an antique china bowl which I put offerings in, an incense burner and two candles (red for the Lord and white for the Lady.) I also find that meditation brings me peace out of my dysfunctional life, and I have been practicing Astral Projection every night before I go to sleep. I haven't yet an OBE, but hey Im getting closer.

I have been studying the practices of the traditional Wiccan healers ever since I was three. At the age of eight, I was inducted into a secret organization of chosen Wiccan healers to preserve the old ways. Even though I was only eight, I was almost more talented than Fenleigh, the Clan Mother.

Four years ago, when my grandmother, the one who taught me the craft, began to grow ill with Scarlette Fever, I began to devise a way of curing it without the use of chemicals. She had died by the time I had discovered the cure, but I keep it close at hand if ever I should need it again.

An hour before my grandmother died, she gave me a small journal of every single herbal remedy known to the Wiccan healers. She had written down every single recipe by hand, and added a few new ones. She told me that this book would be greater than any weapon in the face of danger. At the back of the book, there was a small note. It was a recipe for a deadly poison, the likes of which man had not seen since the Midevil times. But I digress.

My journey into the Wiccan religion has ben long and hard, but I have prevailed. I am the most successful healer since my Grandmother Ariadne.I have devised many new remedies, and would be happy to share them. Just send me a message specifying the wound or illness, and I shall give you my remedy if I have created one.

I originally got into wicca when my sister introduced me to it. She grew out of it pretty quickly, it being just another one of her phases, but I didn't. I kept all the notes and information. I didn't do anything with it, but I kept it, there at the back of my mind for a long time.
Then, in secondary school, I made friends with a couple of other girls who were sort of interested in it. Last year, we got into it so deep, started getting books and information off the internet and stuff. I made myself a pentagram which I have yet to take off. We formed a coven and I spent the summer collecting rocks (because I am inexplicably drawn to crystals and stones).
I love wicca for the very simple reason that it speaks to me on a primal way, talking to my soul, whereas I've always found other religions to talk to my head, my highly logical head.
I can't imagine my life without it now.

Wow, my story seems so dull compared to ya'lls. Well, I used to have this necklace, (I'm still in the "broom closet" and yet to tell my family, with my father thinking my pentagram was a Satanic symbol he threw it away... crying ) and I wore it everyday, it was...a part of me. My friends were to determined to take it off, and chain after chain broke, and whenever I didn't wear it, I felt...a hole I guess in my heart.
But, one of my guy friends said he'd seen his sister wear something like that, and she was "Wiccan." I just dived straight into it. I looked things up on the web, and I even convinced my older brother to help me buy a book. (I'm not old enough yet to drive...) So after I bought it I knew in an instant it wasn't just a phase I was in, like my brother kept saying it was.
I am still yet to initiate myself, because I want my family to know that I'm a "Wicca in training", I guess. And I want them to well...at least fake support me in my faith. 3nodding BUt it has changed me. I feel way more connected to animals, and I have felt tingles of power when I perform some spells. (It all depends on what type they are.) But that's I guess my "Wiccan" story 3nodding .

Well Im not 100% sure how I got into it.
My father he was Pagan. And, I think my mum told me all about Wicca and that it should be something that I might be intrsted in...
Now i buy books.. all the time

but see when my dad was into it, mum couldn't find any books for him all he could do is find things off the internet....
Now that Im doing it there are books everywhere.. (but see its "illegal" here in Queensland)

Illegal? That's ridiculous. Wicca is a real religion, and if that's 'illegal', why isn't catholicism?

I chose wicca because it empowered everything that I already believed. I was lost on the religion front, so I looked into wicca and realized that it was perfect for me. I've changed a lot. I don't feel lost anymore. A tip for new people to wicca, read everything you can get your hands on. It's useful. I've been practicing for 4 years now. Reading is where I learned what I know.

Hmm... Well seeing I wasn't exactly born into a family of wiccan. I was born in an open minded Christian family, though I never really felt comfortable being a Christian, so I renounced that religion and stayed religion-less until 9th grade when a friend got me fully interested in it.

Unfortunately I am horribly out of practice and need to read up on the basics again.
