Wat waz ur first impression of your section leader? Were u right?
I thought she waz a rude, arrogant jerk who thought she could treat us rookies like dirt. But i discovered that if your a good person, and try for the band, she will teach you,and she will guide you.

First impression:
She's lazy and won't do anything to help us.

I was mostly right, but even though she didn't do a lot to help us, she loved us.

My first day in band, I was sitting in the corner because we didn't have our instruments and I knew no one in the class, so I didn't sit by anyone. I sat behind everyone and didn't say anything. The BD took role and called my name, "Sarah?"
"Here," I said, from the back of the room.
And, lo, I was perceived. The BD pointed to me and said, "Meet Sarah. Sarah came from the middle school band and has been playing the saxophone for only three months and is first chair in her band."
Then Loosemoore, though I didn't know him as that, then said, "So, I take it you're good?"
"Pardon?" I said, confused.
He motioned his hands as if he were playing the sax, "You good?"
"Didn't you just hear her?" I asked raising an eye brow.
As the days went on I got closer to everyone and now I'm sitting next to my best friend that happens to be in my section.

My freshman year marching band section leader: I thought she was chill and awesome and knew exactly what she was doing.
Earlier this year, I talked to her again and it turns out she had -no- idea what she was doing.

My concert section leader of two years and etc: When I met him in seventh grade I thought he was a jerk. Also thought he was cute. Then he left to the high school and I didn't see him again until freshman year, where I still thought he was a jerk. This year and last year I learned that he's actually really nice and hilarious, he just has a pretend-seriousness a lot of the time.

Past two years and this coming season's marching band section leader: Totally awesome. She's a spazz and doesn't really know what she's doing all the time, and forgets a lot of things, but she's a pretty good player.

Wait...am I allowed to describe myself if I'm section leader? xd

My section leader for my freshman and sophomore years was kinda bitchy and played favorites. The first day of band camp sophomore year, she told another girl in my section that she was going to be section leader the following year. That girl then proceeded to boss everyone around, claiming it was her "section leader training." The section leader never helped us out with anything, either. If she was forced to teach us a dance or stand tune or help us with our music, she'd act like we were stupid and roll her eyes every five seconds. However, she could be okay sometimes.

The section leader for this year is a total band nerd. She's really random and kinda spastic, but she can rock the clarinet, and she loves to help out the little guys with their playing and whatnot.

Yep...Just like Who is Puffer Fish, I just described myself. lol

Freshman Year
SL1: Sweetest person on the planet, good at music
SL2: Hardcore marcher and conditioner
SL3: Hardcore "DO IT RIGHT NOW, LET'S WORK AS A TEAM!" person

Sophomore Year
SL1: Great person and leader, but so busy with other things
SL2: Not deserving; worst marcher and player in almost the whole band :[

Junior Year
SL1 (me): Trying to get the section to behave, but failing at it (seniors and obnoxious freshmen vs. me, not fun)
SL2: Fun, but passive

Senior Year:
I'm not actually in the flute section anymore. I'm switching to tuba. But my tuba SL is my friend, and considering we're gonna be a small section of him, me, a clarinet senior, and a freshman, I don't think he'll have to lead too much. Like me, he had trouble trying to get his section in line last year, because of the four seniors he was trying to lead. As for the new flute SL, she's the only one that deserves it since she'll be the only upperclassman at all. She's really quiet and shy though, but knows what she's doing.
