The purpose of this thread it obvious. Who do you think is better? Kefka Palazzo (FFVI) or Sephiroth (FFVII)? State why you think so and so is the superior villan.
Personally, I prefer Kefka. Sorry fangirls, but Kefka got a lot farther than Sephiroth ever did.

I will now explain the reasons why Sephiorth is infinetly superior to that mad clown 'Kefka.'
First, yes, both of these villians shot for godhood... and Kefka was the one who ultimately achieved that goal, while Sephiroth failed. But in that reason Sephiorth was marked as a martyr in his evil cause, while Kefka was... well, eventually defeated.
Let us also look at the psychological aspect behind villians. Studies show that people can relate and sympathize better with someone who has a past. One of the reasons Sephiroth is so famous, is because of his tragic past. He was once 'human,' with human feelings and emotions like all of us, simply lost on the path of life. Again, it is proved that people will become more emotionally involved with the insane/evil if they had some kind of human quality that lets us have a glimpse of what he/she was truly like. Sephiroth was created soley to be the best SOLDIER, taken forcibly from his mother and twisted into the perfect weapon by his own father... assuming you go with the 'Hojo is his father' side and not Vincent, although if you believe Vincent is his father, there is the tragic Vincent/Lucrecia backstory. Sephiroth didn't necissarily want to be a perfect weapon. He grew up knowing nothing else, and it thus was his sole purpose in life. In finding his origins with the alien JENOVA, that was when he snapped, and we could sympathize because he just found out that his life was a lie. Not to mention JENOVA was potentially twisting his mind throughout the game, meaning he might have been nothing more than a deluded puppet.
And so, Sephiroth is ultimately the better villian, because he had more of a stake and a purpose in becoming the God of his world- he honestly had nothing left.
There is also the memorable scene of Aerith's death, where we see just how cold Sephiroth truly is, and how set he was in his goal.
And Kefka?... he was just some clown who we don't know anything about who wanted to be god, and thought that, 'everyone's going to die anyway, so let's just blow the world up!' ....yeah, he was just batsh# crazy, and we the gamers have no emotional investment with him, because frankly, he's just there to be evil.
Wow, I've been hanging with the Psychology class way to much.

Sephiroth never goes 100% because he loves bieng cocky.. in advent children in this case, he stabbed clouds arm instead of his pretty face or his heart O. o"..good one sephiroth..*PWNED* he got Omnislashed.. Even tho i think Sephiroth is the better character, Kefka has this fight..BUT still even if he is Kefka,He will no doubt have a hard time with sephiroth.
Sephiroth wont go 100% cuz hes just a clown..but seph will get pwned afterwards.. maybe if Kefka was holding Jenovas head...things will differ.

No back story on Kefka? Did you even play FFVI at all? There IS a back story to him, and it's been hinted that the reasoning behind his wanting to destroy everything, is because of a deep sadness, and lack of feeling a purpose. Sephiroth is not the only one who had a back story. Not only that, but Kefka has a somewhat similar back story to Sephiroth. They were BOTH Experimented on. That is actually the reason Kefka had even gone insane. And lets face it, Sephiroth is less powerful than Kefka.
Sephiroth: Never obtained godhood, and was defeated by 6 people (Yuffie and Vincent were option side quest characters, and weren't even in the final FMV)
Kefka: Obtained godhood, destroyed most of the world and took over what was left, and it took 12 people to bring him down.
I'd say those facts favor Kefka.
Edit: Can a Mod please move this to the VS thread? It's in the wrong sub-forum.

While I like Sephiroth more, I have to say Kefka was the more effective and better villain.
