I have a lot of 'em so I'm only putting up two

Two Promises

She promised me happiness,
She promised me love.
But those two promises have been broken,
There was no happiness to speak of.
There was only pain, instead of love.
He promised me smiles,
He promised me kisses.
But those promises are broken,
All his smiles are for his Misses,
All the kisses turned into memories.
They promised me I would get better,
They promised me that life was good.
But those promises were empty,
No one ever understood,
No one could, no one would.
I promised not to do it,
I promised I would try.
And I have kept those two promises,
So why did they have to lie?

What She Can Do

They sad she could not do it,
That it was too impossible to achieve,
But she still did it,
Did something because she believed.
Boldly, she had jumped,
And boldly, she flew.
Her body was left behind,
But what did that matter?
Now flying was all she knew.
Nothing could keep her from this path,
Not even death.
They said she couldn't do,
Oh, how wrong they were.
