For only appearing once, in its own movie, this legendary surely came from the stars right away. It can either be your doom or your savior in battle if used correctly. Of course any legendary would be carefully looked at but abused if it looks good, but let's take a closer look at the crest of this pokemon's power.

Jirachi's ability makes it an obvious choice for any team. Just slap on some elemental moves and you got more chance at the hax already. This pokemon can make for one sweet revenge killer thanks to this ability.
But the most favorable thing about this pokemon is the move pool, as it can be used as support or as a sweeper. As it levels up, there aren't many choices except for Wish, Healing Wish and Doom Desire; which can make a great combination for the support moveset. Using TMs/HMs, you could add Calm Mind, Toxic, Reflect, Light Screen, Substitude, Thunder Wave, Trick, Rain Dance, Stealth Rock or Trick room to the set, making this Jirachi great for setting up most teams. With max HP and Defence, Jirachi can survive a max Attack Rampardos's Earthquake by 46.5% - 55% (Rampardos's base attack is 165.)
As for it's sweeping side, some can say it's just as amazing. Zen Headbutt brings up the first flinching move that it can learn. If you are free to choose from tutor moves, however, then you may also pick Iron Head which does the same except it is a steel type move. The flinch-rachi is one of the popular sets. The tutors in D/P opened the choice of elemental punches, so a plus from the flinching there is paralyze, burn and freeze hax. There are only four spots for you to fill in, do so wisely. As there is also Body Slam, Last Resort and U-Turn for the additional scouting.
That's not the end of this section, Jirachi can also be a beast on the special attacks! It's stab Psychic and 20% chance of lowering the target's Special Defence makes this move a pretty good first choice. There is also Water Pulse to go with Rain Dance, if you are looking to give your opponent a worst time with luck. Jirachi can also give a powerful stab Flash Cannon or a possible paralyze with Thunder, or Thunderbolt. There is also Grass Knot(or Energy Ball), and Ice Wind which can be used to slow down and 2OHKO dragon-types. Hidden Power is always an option if you feel that these mentioned attacks aren't enough.
