Have you ever watched shows like "Toddlers and Tiaras"? Where they have these already adorable little girls and dress them up in giant dresses and extensions, and even fake tans? Everytime I see it, I always have a mixture of emotions. At one point, I'm all like, "Aw! Look at how cute they are?" And then you see some of the parents and the situations all of them go through, and I think, "Ugh, I'll never let my kid into one of those..."

So, here's the debate: Would you let a little girl into a beauty pagent? (or even a little boy, there's probably dozens of them, too) How young is too young for a pagent? And just how far would you go to have your child win? (Or you win, if you participate.)

I don't like pagents myself, so I'm pretty biased on the whole thing. Even though there are male pagents out there, you don't see it very often. Especially not in the large amounts pagents are in. I consider it very degrading to the people involved, too, because it's pretty much says, "Beauty is one of the most important things. Who cares if you're smart or not."

I would never put my little girl or boy in a pagent. If they're about 16 and they want to enter, then sure, by all means, they're... kinda grown. Still kinda stupid at that age (at least I was. rofl ) but at least they'll be allowed to have a choice in the matter. It seems the littler ones are kinda forced into it.

I will admit, on that "Toddlers and Tiaras," I absolutely adore the little girl who says she wants to win so she can buy a cow. lol blaugh

Before I say anything about pageants.
A LITTLE GIRL WANTED TO BUY A COW WITH THE PAGEANT MONEY?
Man, I have got to watch that show more often.
Props to that kid.
My mom was watching it one day and said the prize was a puppy.
That's one way of motivating a six-year-old to do their best.

The show makes me laugh.
Because I have never seen a hot mom on it
Those moms are so obviously living their dreams though their little girl.
I don't really know what to say about children's pageants.
I think it's mostly the mothers.
I would go about teenage for pageants.
Teenager wants to do it, let them.

I would not really do much to ensure my child's victory though.
(If they did want to enter.)
I'm more about natural beauty so all the fake tans and flippers, bleh.
(I'd be the worse pageant mom ever. "What should I do for my talent, mom?" "Strip.")
I'm frightened any time I see a little girl made up to look like she's sixteen.

Reminds me.
A while ago I got a letter saying "You've been nominated for Miss Teen Las Vegas! Someone you know has nominated you probably because of your love of modeling-"
And I stopped reading there because I was laughing too hard.
Obviously, I did not respond.

*falls to the floor*
I think I would put that thing on the wall! "See? Someone thinks I'm HAAAAWT!!!"
lol rofl Oh, you've made my afternoon.

Yes, there was a little girl and she said, "I hope I win the pagent show, so I can use the money and buy a... cow!"

She actually won, too, and her mom agreed to buy her one. She just started singing, "I get a cow! I get a cow!" Wonder if she finally got it... She even appeared on the Tyra show to talk about it. lol

It's so obvious the parents are more interested in it that the kids. You can say whatever ya want, those shows just prove that some of those parents are nuts about making their kids famous. It's a little scary when a three year old's walking on stage with a two piece bikini. Why do you need a swinsuit competition for a little kiddie???
There's nothing wrong with dressing up your baby in all sorts of frills and stuff, but hair extensions and fake tans are WAAAY too far.

I doubt you'd be the worst mom on stage. If I say one of those other parents talking about their kids like they were Princess Diana, I may very well bust a coupla caps in. IT'S JUST A DAMN PAGEANT!!! *And then my kid'll get kicked out for her mother's behaviour rofl *

Oh man!
Why didn't I think of that?
Now I wish I hadn't thrown that away. >|

That is amazing.
I really hope she got her cow.

Those parents are insane.
It's also waaaay too much to spend on a kid.
The prize money is not nearly enough to cover what they're spending it seems like.
They could be putting that money away for college for these girls instead of shoving them into pageants.

I imagine you decking another mom after she's finished primping her own daughter.

lol, well I may not get physical at that moment, but I'll probably have a few words... or sentences... maybe a whole speech, I dunno...

Now, if someone started talking bad about my baby and calling him or her an ugly little hick baby... THERE SHALL BE HELL TO PAY!!!!

I think a large portion of the reason some of these parents spend so much on their kids is they think their kid is going to be the next Madonna or Tyra or something like that, so they consider it an... investment of sorts, I suppose... More than likely, they'll end up going nuts and drug crazy and having a bunch of kids with multiple spouses and... ahem... rofl rofl rofl
