anywho, it sounds like one of a few possible theories stand out in my opinion.... cops could very well have done it, abusing certain position of theirs... or it could have been thugs/gangbangers or just plain lone-wolf looters.... or it might have even been, disturbingly enough, envious neighbors. i feel that it was most likely one of these possibilities because of the reaction you say your neighbors had. it implies that they feel that to tell you the truth would endanger them. if it were just some kids, or a hobo, or even the IRS, they'd probably have told you without hesitation.

My brother borrowed me a pair of sleeping bags, my mom let me take her garden's furnitures, my dad borrowed me some money (which he insist I don't have to pay, but I will), and a weirdo otaku I knew from my girl's job is letting me buy a laptop by parts.
Oh, and I'm also buying a gun, so I can go Charles Bronson's Death Wish on whoever stole my favourite panties.

I got burgled once too. We weren't completely like you, but most of the s**t they took was irreplaceable, like family heirlooms and grandmother's jewellery and whatnot.

But yeah, it feels pretty ******** awful and is great at making you feel as violated as a child left alone with Michael Jackson.

You won't believe this: cops found most of my stuff, it was at an invaded home they were called to dislodge.
Let me explain. A family of homeless people found a house at a still under construction urbanization, and decided to make it their home. This is illegal, of course, so the owners called the cops on this people, and another 10 families, to get them out the hard way. And here is the kicker: by pure random luck, while they were at it, one of the cops, who I would had swear was the one less paying attention to whatever I was saying, and the one who ogled my girl more shamelessly, noticed the sign: "Lucy + Julia" on the corner of a table. My ******** table!
Everything electric, our clothes and general kitchen wares is still missing, but the family, composed only by young women and hyper children, gave the police a good idea of who was the person who sold them our things.
I'm having mixed feelings right now. By one side is hard to believe they didn't knew they were buying stolen articles, but by the other side... Well, single homeless moms, you know what I mean? That's not an excuse for crime, but it's hard to stay mad at them.
Anyway, I'm sleeping again in my bed. Though I had to get rid of the mattress. Too many children slept on it.

No F that! A crime is a crime. And its even more sickening when people like homeless mothers have like FIVE kids just so they can get on welfare. If I was homeless I wouldn't drag along my kids. I'd put them all up for adoption or with close family members. Don't let the excuse of "I have 20 little mouths at home to feed." That's their fault for not closing their legs or getting their priorities straight.

That may seem like a blunt way to put it but it is true.
