So yes.
Reality television. Alsmost every single friend I have
are down with the whole
"Reality TV sucks and shouldnt be aired"
I however?
Quite like it actualy.
(though I like it because it's bad. Then I go watch good scripted shows too satisfy my need for actualy quality.)
I can't even call it a guilty pleasure since I don't feel any shame for it.
I'm shameless in my love for bad television!
Not all of it of of course,
All considered there are rather few of them I can watch
and I can never watch every single season like some people, I ussulay just watch one season before getting bored.
And god knows I only watch them since they make me laugh at the idiot nature of people and their desperation too be on TV.
And I mostly watched them while my family still lived here, since then I watched them with my older sister and mom since we have a simular liking too laugh at silly people.
But still. I highly enjoy some of them,
hell I know one reality TV series surprised me like all hell by revealing that a person that I had thought of as a decen-but-nothing-special pop singer was actualy secretly a rather good rock singer.

But yes.

Whatch you opinion of Reality television?
Ever watch any of it?
And liked it?
If no, I highly suspect you of lying and that you secretly enjoyed it to some extent ;D
If yes, what shows do you are have watched?
Why did/do you like them?
Any shows that you absolutely hate with the power of a thousand suns?
Why?

I've personaly watched the following.
Americas Next Top Model
-Because watching a bunch of hormonal overly dramatic girls stuck in a house together is just begging for silly catfights. And I like the photoshoots since most of them are actualy highly beautiful (also fun too watch it with a sketchbook too sketch down akward and funky poses)
(This show is also the exception too bouth "my friend hate it" and "Only one series" A friend of mine likes watching it and her bf does too and I think I watched like...9 seasons before I got bored :'D

So you think you can dance
-Because I like watching people dance? Only reality TV show I do not watch because of funny-as-hell drama but because I honestly enjoy the performances.

American Idol
-Just the second season. After that I got bored with it since most of the singer have that highly obnoxious way singing like sheep too try and mask the fact that they cant properly hold a tone. xP

Americas got talent
-It had David Hasselhoff! I need no other reason!

Design Star
-For I am quite interested in design actualy.

Survivor
-the first season since my family watched it, gave up after that.

Hell's Kitchen
-More then one series, since it amuses me. And I secretly like shows that have too do with cooking.

Top Chief
-Cooking show. I likes it.

Kitchen Nightmare
-Swearing. Drama. And cooking.

Rockstar Supernove/INX-whatever it was called.

The supernove one pretty much surprised the majority of my country seriosly. :'D
Since one of the contestent was an Icelandic pop singer from a band called "Á Móti Sól" or "Against a Sun" who puplished songs like "Drive me, because I'm drunk" played at high school dance, and well...yah...
(not that the last part is unusual for Icelandic band, it's a small country so even if your famous enough for the whole country too know you and for most people owning at least some of your music? Still means you can walk down the street with perhaps a greeting or two at most form people, god know I've seen the guy walking around often enough regonised him as someone famous and quite frankly could not cared less. So yes. You are rarely get famous enough in Iceland too afford to skip on paying dance gigs even if they are just school dances :'])
then all of a sudden he was on TV singing songs like "Creep" and...doing it pretty well actualy.
God knows the whole series was just made for those old rockers too have a bit of "I'm so awesome and cool" ego session in front of a camera every week. It was amusing.

Backpacking.
-Like most of the above mentioned series I only watched it when I happened remember it (which means I only caught like half of the show or less)
But what I saw was kinda fun for some reason and made me want too visit the places.

Age of Love:
Cause it was so wrong and yet so right x'D
Also the only dating reality TV show I've seen more then one episode off.
Because seriously, tv shows with milfs FTW.

Icelandic Idol:
Not by choice
D':
I went with my sister and her boyfriend too the first show to be part of the audience (since his sister was a contestend) and since she did so well in that and was superstitious I was made too go to every single show while she was still in it D'X
And while she had an amazing voice which I like listening too,
most of the other contestends sang in a way that made my ears feel violated. Seriously. Raped, repeatedly. And then driven over with a tank. And then the left overs were violated.
It was just that bad.

Aaaand yah. That's pretty much it.

Shows I never ever want too see again for they are terribly boring?

American Idol, X-factor and all those.
Bleh.
Survivor.
The bachelor and all those dating shows.
The Icelandic Idol. 'shivers' I am so glad it only lasted two seasons.

I can't judge any others since I havent tried watching them
=P

P.S
And why yes.
I seriously doupt anyone read through that,
but I'm bored and wanted a break from the art commisions I'm working on.
....
Which I'm totaly getting like...
Something around 500k and The Nightmare for.
:'D
And most of them are of curvy-bootylicious-cleavage gifted women.
Which I would propobly been drawing anyway.
But now people are giving me pixel gold for it.
Fun times.

I don't watch reality TV. I've seen a little bit of Survivor and American Idol, but I hated both of them.

I've also seen bits and pieces of America's Next Top Model and Project Runway, but that is because my mother and sisters watch it. I watched a full episode when I had strep throat once, and that was because I was too sick to want to move (and to think clearly).

Survivor and american idol
are incredibly boring.

The top model thing allows me to indulge my inner girlishness
however, I figure I should allow at least that much
since otherwise I pretty much ignore it.

And then I am quite sorry for that,
since that wall of text was quite pointless and
not at all an interesting read.

I'm just so frightfully bored right now

Alright, you caught me.
Reality TV is my guilty pleasure. rofl

I like watching the really skanky ones on Vh1 too.
Tough Love was hilarious.
They took these dramatic girls who are chronically single.
Like they've had all these terrible relationships or they can't keep a boyfriend.
Then they put them in a house where they're helped by a match maker to get the man of their dreams.

There's been one lately that I'm really liking though.
It's called Shear Genius
It's a hair stylist competition of sorts, they have to do these hair related challenges to eventually win $100,000.
(Like one challenge was short hair, one was making black girls' hair straight, avant-garde photoshoot hair styles, stuff like that.)

I'll admit I enjoy America's Next Top Model too.
I only watch it when they do marathons and show an entire season in one day though, I don't have the patience to wait for the next episode to come out because it's interesting but not that interesting.

Worst Cook in America is a cooking one that's actually winding down right now.
It's on the Food Network and they took people that have been nominated by their families as the worst chef in America.
Then they have two teams, each taught by a famous chef, to try to teach them how to cook.
Then in the end, the two that make it, once from each team, will cook for a panel of food critics, but will tell them the food was made by their mentors, to see if they can convince them that they food was professionally made.

I kneeew it!
Your guilty pleasures are never safe from me!

Joy!
I've watched Shear genious with my sister when its on
while I'm visiting in Sweden (since its not aired in Iceland)
I just could not remember what it was called!
It's brilliant.
I just really like design and stylist reality TV shows,
since they are so full of ideeeas.
Seriously good too watch to get inspiration.

Tough Love and Worst Cook
sound ridiculously amusing
:'D

Totaly remembered another show I watched.

Beauty and the Geek.
Dear god that was just fun steriotypes all over the place.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 31, 2010 1:06 pm

NOOOOOOoooooooo!

It's really fun.
That's why I like the design and style shows too.
They're so full of fun ideas.

They are amusing.
Last week on Worst Cook this girl started sobbing because she wasn't able to finish her dish and she got so stressed.
I actually felt bad since she was doing really well up until then.
But Tough Love, some of the girls are just so dumb, it is amazing.
One girl is back for her second run because nothing apparently got through her thick skull the first time she was on.

I heard of Beauty and the Geek but I was afraid to watch it.
(That and it was on a channel I didn't often watch)

Yeeees
I see right throoooough you.

And yes. Design shows rock and I miss watching them.
Unfortunetly these days I only have two channels,
one of them has nothing but boring coverment aproved stuff since its goverment sponsored, and the other is a christian channel
=/
I miss T. Veeeeeeee

I am now slightly sad to not have the chance too see either of those shows you mentioned.

Since dumb people and people crying
are a great source of amusement for me.
...
I might be a borderline horrible person but at least I"m honest about it!

But Beauty and the Geek was fantastic!
:'D
Bunch of nerdy guys who in most cases were a new level of socialy akward, made too team up with a pretty
steriotypical cheerleader types
that in some cases were actualy dumb enough that it was quite
amazing they were capable of breathing.
='3
And of course they were supposed to be teaching each other about not judging books by its covers and blah blah moral stuff,
but mostly?
Just hilarious sterio types.

Although there were two people there that made my inner girl coo
and aaaaw over their adorableness.
Since they were all...faaaaalling in luv.
'cue cheesy romance ballad'
It was sickeningly cute.
Mostly since they were starting to be all cozy and couply,
and some of the other girls were being all
"What is she on? Oh em gee"
Then the guys went through makeover,
his bushy beard got shaved off and whattya know?
Turned out to be a babe.
Hah. It was like...a bad chick flick
:'D

.....
I like bad chick flicks.
<.<
PostPosted: Sun Jan 31, 2010 1:32 pm

I'm scurred.

Aww, that sucks.
I don't watch TV much but I'm sure I'd miss it if I only got two channels.

It's okay.
I'm secretly a bad person.
Whenever dumb little girls cry on those shows it amuses me.
But I really did feel bad for the girl on the cooking show since one little thing went wrong and it all just went downhill for her.

Wooooow, that sounds..... like a new level of dumb in reality shows.
They pair up a bunch of stereotypical people to prove that they aren't the stereotype?
It sounds like it would have been hilarious though. xD

Awwwww, that sounds cute.
I always get all happy when people really start doing things like that on shows.
There's so many mediocre chick flicks out there it's hard to find the really bad ones.
(or good ones)
I tend to skip over them mostly.
Because the mediocre ones are just boring.

You should be.
I'm told I'm a very efficient stalker.
Sneak into peoples houses while their on vacations and pet the house cat and everything.
...
Well given that said people are friends who give me the house key and ask me too feed the cat and play with it so it wont feel all alone.
But yes.
Be terrified.

And yes.
No real TV sort of sucks.
But I've gotten used too it.
It's propobly the reason why I started going back on gaia,
I had pretty much stopped coming here and was considering donating all my pixels too random people, but now I sort of use it for entertainment when I have nothing too do.

I think most people enjoy seeing people suffer on TV to some extent.
Some of them just arent honest about it.
But its ever so amusing.
xD

but I can see how it might have been sad too see that lady though,
especialy if she seemed like a genuin nice person.
=/
It's only fun if they are in someways annoying.

And yes.
It was...so silly.
They were even made too compete in two challenges every show,
one aimed at the girls
which evolved all kids of technical educational stuff
and the boys got these fashion or social related challenges.

In one show the girls had too train the boys in pick up lines
and make them go out and hit on girls
:'D
The poor dears were so akward.

I like chickflicks
like Clueless.
Which is just awesome.
If you have seen it you should.

And I like Mean Girls.
I actualy know no one who doesnt.
I've watched that movie with a bunch of hardcore
scary looking death metal guys who were acting like giggling pre-teen girls over it.
Seriously.
It was ******** up in a very amusing way.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 31, 2010 2:00 pm

So sneaky.
I would never expect you coming if I gave you a house key and told you to!
I am terrified.

Well I'm glad you're back then!
Even though lack of TV still sucks.

It is only fun to laugh at them when they're obnoxious.
That's why I felt bad though.
She looked like a genuinely nice person.

Aww, that sounds sad.
Sending a bunch of geeks in to hit on girls.
That's not even trying to disguise the fact that reality TV shows are really just made to laugh at other people.

I've never seen Clueless
But now that you bring it up, I don't know anyone that dislikes Mean Girls either.
That movie is hilarious in this weird way that makes everyone love it.

I do the unexpected!

I'm kinda glad I came back too.
I'm rediscovering my love of doing art comissions for people,
and I think I might be getting better at using photoshop because of it
(of course I have no idea what the hell I'm going to do with that gold I'm getting since I honestly dont buy items much)

It was rather cruel yes,
but honestly a few guys actualy got some girls phonenumbers
and their egos were given a much needed boost.

And some of the challanges seemed too honestly help bouth the guys
win some tiny bit of confidence
and some of the girls found out they could actualy be rather
good at some acedemics when they put their minds too it.
So it wasnt all bad.
But again. Mostly just a bunch of steriotypes.

You should see it then.
It's like the 90's chick flick too end all chick flicks.
:'D
The narrator is so freaking self absored
that it's just highly amusing.

and yes. Even my Icelandic teacher
who seems too read nothing but
a 900 year old Icelandic literature and watch nothing but football, Rambo and films made after said old icelandic tales
has admited that he likes Mean Girls.
It might be impossible too dislike it.

Design Star... Project Runway...
I'm not super obesessed with TV, but I do watch these two when I see them... Hell's Kitchen, too, but nowadays I'm more obsessed with internet. sweatdrop

Probably off topic, but I also watch TMZ every weekday. About all the stars and stuff...
My folks can't stand it. lol

Whatch you opinion of Reality television?
Reality Tv generally sucks, though for lightm cheap, fluff entertainment to have on the background its ok.
Plus some are genuinely interesting, though usually these people aren't actually trying to win anything. when there's a prize it tends to get crapper.

Ever watch any of it?
And liked it?
If yes, what shows do you are have watched?

I do watch it, now i think about it:
[i'll add youtube vids at some point because A- i'm bored and B- most of these are Uk exclusive i think]

'strictly come dancing' - because it's got talent, cool dances and isn't humiliating for the celebrities involved.
clicky click for a cool dance

'X-factor' - i watch only occasionally cos it's good to have on in teh background, though it bored me
[y'all know what this is :p]

'come dine with me' - a great show, mainly because the Voice-over narrator completely takes the piss and is snarky as hell biggrin

'Relocation relocation' - a property show. the presenters kirsty and phil are funny and i like window shopping for houses lol

'Grand designs' - like the above but with more intelligence and a hell of a lot more money as ppl try to build their dream houses. Kevein mcloud is smexy too :3 (dunno if this counts as reality tv. hm)
Seirously. Kevin's voice rocks :p

'Bargain Hunt' - love it to pieces. the presentor, Tim wonnacott is a sweetheart and always funny. the contestants are usually down to earth, the show makes fun of itself, and i love antique shows. plus this has a dash of history thrown in.

'Hells kitchen' - cos gordon ramsey is awesome

'supernanny' - because jo frost is actually very good at her job and the kids need sorting out.

'the hotel inspector' - because some places are dumps and it's cool to see them turn around

'judge judy' - i love her! she's so funny XD

'the dog whisperer' - because again he's good at hsi job and i have a crush on ceaser milan :p

'Ice Road Truckers' - my dad got me into this. fascinating stuff

'Trawlermen' - another of my dad's - it's amaizng what the fishermen go through

'American Hot Rod' - yet again my dad's choice. it's entertaining, esp when everyone seems to walk out or get fired.

......oh lord i actually watch a lot of reality TV!

i hate stuff where ppl have to humiliate themselves though, and where they choose purpusefully stupid or whoreish people. so big brother and celebrity get me out fo here etc aren't my thing.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 01, 2010 6:28 am

Who would expect it?

That's fun.
I try to do a commission or two everyonce in a while.
But I get too lazy an/or forget to do them.
After my third or fourth try I just stopped. xD

Oh that's good.
At least some of it turned out well.

Maybe they secretly got a bunch of hot smart girls, then made them act like dumb cheerleaders.
(Ohhh, reality TV secret plot)

Everyone tells me I have to watch it.
I really gotta go do that. D:

That's amazing.
I should ask my conservative, mormon, into superhero movies, art teacher if he likes to movie.
Because of all the teachers, he seems to be the least likely to have seen or liked it.
(After that comes my Epidemiology teacher who'll only watch a chick flick because his wife forces him to and he likes to makes fun of the giggling teenage girls in my class. I hang out with the guys in the class so I am safe from this.)
