okay,so my bigger brother gave me his old conserving club magazine, and when i read through it,i saw this cool page with other ways to be environment-friendly!but chu probably already know most of them >w< just making sure though..

*use Blackle.com instead of google.com to save watts[my opinion is to use Goodsearch.com for national disasters]

*look for clothing with recycled/organic materials

*when planning for a spa party, use eco-friendly products!

*carpool with a friend

*use a tote bag for shopping instead of a plastic/paper bag -- stylish AND eco-friendly! ;3

*volunteer to present to elementary kids to get them started on conserving!

*local produce is the next big thing for being green!pick fruit yourself -- better yet, make it organic!

*recycling paper, plastic, and aluminum is awesome, but take it to the next step -- ink cartridges, yogurt cups, cookie wrappers,etc..

*use the local water fountain instead of bottled water[hello,bottle..?x3]

*celebrate eco-holidays,such as Wetlands Month in May,America Recycles Day in November,Elephant Appreciation Day on September 22,and more!

im pretty sure that's it..yup!oh,and i also have a at-home-mocha recipe somewhere...>w<

I'm all about buying local. It cuts down on fuel consumption / emissions, and it supports local business.

I'm lucky in that in Saskatchewan there are a lot of small family owned farms that do things naturally and grow organic. I'm also lucky in that there is a farmers market every Saturday (even in winter!). I love going and buying fresh veggies, and there is always realy yummy baking and canned good everywhere.

Just a heads-up: using Blackle does nothing if you have an LCD monitor.

While I don't use Blackle, but on my CRT monitor I have my colors set so that text input boxes don't display as glaring white. It's easier on my eyes, and I'm sure it saves power. razz

I also have Acrobat set up so that the default background color is a papery brown rather than white. I did it mostly for my eyes, but I'm sure it saves power, too.

I love buying local. There's a farm stand right across the street from the nearest Stop and Shop. Much better prices and obviously fresher stuff. They must be doing well too, because it's been there for quite a few years. Not open in winter though.
