My band haz field show season from august to december. Then we have parade season december to may. Since our numbers have doubled,we are thinking about participating in festivals too. I'm just curious if other bands have a similar scheduale...

There's this thing called concert band....
We do 2 parades a year. Christmas, and Strawberry Festival. If we're unlucky, we also do Mardi Gras. Our band, seriously... when marching band is over, it's either jazz band, (and the kids who can't be in jazz band are in concert band) or not being in band after marching.

We do marching season until our last festival, but if our football tema goes to playoffs we hjave giant pep band season, where we are rewuired to go, but we do't march.
After playoffs end, we have concert season. We only do the rodeo parade, and only every other year. So it is either parade, or band trip.

O.O I have a totally different yearly schedule. This is what we usually do. This year, we don't do any of this because...they got rid of the music program at my school. *Big sad face* We play in the Halloween Parade (We, the middle/high school band play for the little elementary school kids who parade around the soccer field in the costumes. Lame, but I like playing Louie, Louie!) We play Christmas Carols down in the town hall whilst the Firemen give out toys to the little kids and we play Jolly Ol' St. Nicholas twenty-thousand times until the fat man in the big red suit finally gets up on stage and sits his but down. The whole band pretty much dies after playing the song over and over. It takes soo long! O.O Then the Winter Concert. After the winter concert, we practice for the Memorial Day Parade (Lol, laughing at memories!) One year we did a Fireman's Day parade. But that was when I was...like...in seventh grade and we have not done it again. And finally, we have the have Art's Night/Spring Concert. Which is fairly fun.

It is a parade in our town for th, well, rodeo. t doesn't use machanical floats. everything is either horses or run by horses, except of course the bands. unfortunately for us bands, this means lots of horse po to walk through.

Ours isn't really anything special, maybe a parade or so, and we have a concert festival once every year. But this year we get to go to Hershey Park smile

Marching season typically lasts from mid-August/Band Camp to Thanksgiving Break, and typically championships is on the weekend as break starts. We go to every football game on Friday, a competition every Saturday from mid-October onwards, and have practices two hours every day (Tuesdays also have 3-hour night practices and we usually rehearse Saturday mornings for local comps). The band also participates in local parades (Veterans Day, Christmas parades, and the Rodeo Parade), but usually not competitive parade (which I wish we did).
Concert season picks up after marching season ends, right after we get back from break. We get started with Christmas music, then after Christmas break we start on our festival music, split into two bands. After semester starts, the bands are different periods (one of the two band periods from marching season), so each band rehearses for five hours a week. We go to festivals in March and April. We also have concerts, like the "area" concert with the feeder schools, a pre-festival concert, and an awards concert. Underclassmen participate in graduation, of course, at the end of the year. razz
Jazz Band is an optional program consisting of two bands. Jazz A rehearses for four hours a week during marching season after school, and Jazz B rehearses for two a week. When the semester comes and the concert bands split, Jazz A shares its timeslot with the lower band and rehearse five hours a week, while Jazz B remains after school but for four hours a week now. Both bands participate in festivals and yearly concerts (winter and spring), but Jazz A also has concerts with professional bands a couple times a year and records a CD in the spring.
Symphony Orchestra consists of the top few winds from each section, and it starts in December after school for about two hours a week. After break, there's a few weeks before it picks up again. Along with the strings, the orchestra participates in festivals throughout the spring and a winter and spring concert.
