I have to say, I just had a very bad time in forums. I typed Wicca in forums to find like minded people. It made me upset. First there was a lot of bashing from people who don't understand. But that wasn't what really got to me, it was people who seemed to know about Wicca and even practiced. They seemed dead set on proving that everyone who claimed they were Wiccan were in fact not, even myself. Why do people have to worry about traditions and such. I don't think that so much matters. If you all believe the same, why does it matter? I think it matters as much as ones race, gender or sexual orientation. I am so disgusted. I was raised Presbyterian. I never got why there was so many different forms of Christianity (as well as Jewish and Muslum religions) if you all believe the same, shouldn't you be?

I know what you mean, i also find its kind of hard to get advice from them cause they just don't want to share with someone who doesn't know what they're doing. I mean, there are a lot of people trying to find their way like me and have only just begun, so naturally there are a lot of questions....

This fellow bothered me. He said I wasn't Wiccan because Wiccan's needed to be in covens, and because I am a solitary I haven't earned the right of the title and called me a "fluffy bunny" I have never been so bothered. Why would a person liked minded be so cruel. Just because I live in a small town, that is very Christian, and can't find a coven. Believe me i've tried. What I don't understand is why we are not on the same side. I am bothered. I don't care what he said either. I am Wiccan, that is the way I choose to believe.

aww im sorry hon. dont forget that me and jessica are part of youre long distance coven.
ignorance is also the reason that i havent really told my family im wiccan. they made jokes over Halloween when i got a book on magic that i would turn people into frogs, and other stuff. is ok, were all here for each other.

families can be the worst. Im lucky my Grandma is already Agnostic so she's supportive of religious freedom, but my mom is deeply Christian. I think what helped for her was when I sat her down and explained to her Wicca is not evil, and actually similar to Christianity with a ritual aspect and more holidays.

On a different my Uncle just sent me the Holy Bible on DVD......sigh. That side of the family I try not to associate with.

I stopped wishing for acceptance from my family. I did for a long time, but I just figured "what's the point?" I found it easier to deal with them when I moved out, partially because they were FAR AWAY. My sister is the only one so far that won't try to tell me I'm weird.

yeah, i try to avoid talking religion with my family. at my grams we pray on holidays before dinner, but i just kinda put my head down and murmur along nothing. around my friends on the other hand.....then again, three of you are here lol (delirium, entervixen and kasa)

I remember dinner with your family, that chest crossy thing Catholics do that I never understood. WHOO! It kinda frightend me the first couple of times, like OMG THEY ARE SPEAKING IN TOUNGES AND CONVULSING!!! SOMEONE SAVE THEM!!! yeah......in a way i'm glad my family was Presbyterian, Catholics seem much more insaaaannnneee. (not tryna bash)

i went to a catholic funeral once....it was really awkward not knowing when to get up or kneel down or whatever. but then again, they'd probably just as awkward at one of our rituals, and rituals can get really complicated. mrgreen

yeah, going to some of the masses with my grandma and a few funerals, it is very complicated and ritualized. i guess its something we both have in common blaugh

All religions have crazy rituals. I heard that early Christians or was it Jews, I dunno, around Jesus's time, well when a baby was born they'd throw dove blood at a wall for Yaweh. Yeah it was Jewish, the Jewish God was Yaweh, and the Christian God was Jehova. ( did I get that right???) Doesn't sound much worse than "pagan" sacrifices.
