If done right it looks awesome and I love seeing some of the make-up and special effects skills people have.
I don't however, like seeing it on my white costumes. DX While I enjoy seeing gore costumes, I think you've really got to be careful with them at conventions or you end up annoying a lot of people. Dripping/wet/sticky blood/other bodily fluids is just a no at cons really, someone attempted it a few years back at a con here and it did not go down well.
I'm especially concerned about this October as there's a big expo on Halloween that is generally full of idiots who really don't understand that you should respect other people's costumes and not glomp/grab/pull etc.

I love horror and gore but to much is too much for me.
I'm actually gonna cosplay Lucy from Elfen Lied but I won't be bloody.

Sometimes I think when people go as "the bloody version" it ruins the cosplay.

Blood splatters differently, yet in a pattern, depending on range and direction. Not all over. Even if the character is a crazy murderer patterns of splatter will still exist and and be seen... only there will be multiple patterns.
And the type of liquid used in making the blood splatter is also important because some stuff will not get the effect you are looking for because of the thickness/heaviness of the product.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the RE Nurses and L4D cosplays.
