Nothyra
The land's six countries all converge together in the center where a lake sits with a formerly uninhabited island sits in the tranquility.
A few years ago, scientists from each land embarked on a government-funded quest for the creation of the perfect warrior. The government funded for two different types of warriors, those with a single mind per individual, and those with a hive-mind.

Those with individuality were imbued with physical "powers". These men and women gained heightened speed, eye sight, hearing, and strength, excelling in one of the aforementioned areas. They all had great speed, hearing, sight, and strength, but in one area they would have greater then another. These beings they called the Unborn. The simple reason being that the beings were created, not born.

Those that excelled in strength had this symbol tattooed on their right shoulder User Image

Those that had even greater eyesight had this symbol on their left shoulder User Image

For those that had great hearing this symbol was on their right forearm User Image

The men and women that had a great speed would have this symbol on their left forearm User Image

The Hivemind were the second species made by the humans. The most influential part of this race is there hivemind mentality. These beings have a much higher mental potential than the Unborn, and are capable of telekinesis. Yet, it had seemed that the Hivemind's abilities were spread far and wide. They seemed to speacialize differently with these abilities, some better with the ability to make and control fire, while others can move the earth exceptionally well. Yet, their hivemind abilities allow them share their abilities within close proximity. Each of the Hivemind have been branded with tattoos in complements to their oddly colored hair to mark their specializations.

After both the Unborn and the Hivemind were completed, the scientists, after instilling a hatred in them for each other, let them loose upon the island. The object was to find which were the best fighters, the best to take as warriors to war; the easiest to control. The island was the best area to test them in, for it holds every land type and is quite large. The Lab lay underground so as to not mess with the range of land types.

On the North part of the island lay a mountain range. The Mountains climb quite high and almost completely covered in snow year round. To the East lays a volcano. It is quite small and any eruptions would merely run into the ocean. On much of the West winds a river, which is more of a stream, which runs into the bog in the center of the Island. The bog itself runs into the forest which stands at the southern part of the island.

Will the Unborn and the Hivemind over come their differences? Or will one set win the fight and hunt the other to extinction, lending the humans a more formidable weapon then ever before? That's for you to decide.

Faerai Daegen
Hivemind

XXXFaerai wandered around the volcano, inflamed that she couldn't find Zaq. Normally it would be a metaphor, but she was so mad her hair was literally, on fire. Her tattoos were shimmering, moving in random, sharp movements, as if to emphasize her mood. Normally she could sense his presence because of the Hive's connections, but that was in close quarters, out here in the open she could get a vague direction but that was all.

XXXShe stepped in a patch of barely cooled lava flow and scowled as she scorched her boot. Her eyes flashed as a ball of fire appeared in her hand and she hurled it uselessly at the sky. The sky, it was the first time she'd seen it. It was so... blue. Watching the wind patterns, she almost felt calm, as if Zaq were there by her side. Remembering her mission to find him, Faerai hurled another ball of fire into the sky to release her frustration. 'Now, where would he go? Perhaps down there to the forest, where he could hear the wind in the trees?'

XXXFaerai decided that was as good a place as any to start and so she made her way down to the base of the volcano. At the base of the volcano, she looked around once more to get her bearings; there was a small mountain to the north-west that she could see. From the top of the mountain she had been able to barely glimpse the sliver that was the river to the West and directly south should be a forest. She headed that way.

XXXShe started traipsing through the bog, muttering darkly under her breath about her ruined boots.

xxxSitting midway up a tree, Zaq was starring intently up towards the sky. It was an impossible feat to look through the branches and in the sky, at least with his eyes, yet he was content with just imagining like he'd used to when he was inside the facility. He breathed in deeply, taking in the fresh air and delightful aroma of the forest. When he exhaled, a small breeze blew, and the trees cried as it passed by. Zaq could feel his hair dance in the wind, his clothes clamly waving in the air. Everything was peaceful, quiet, and most importantly, calm. It was rare to find a place like this anywhere else on the island, a few peaks may have similar effects.

xxxThen Zaq's mind spiked for a moment, one of his kind were drawing near, and he could feel the other as he was sure she would feel him. It was Faerai, he was sure of it before full analyzation of the connection. The mood was unique to her, as it was always full of fury, yet it was always passionate. "I see you have found me?" He thought, not that one of the Hivemind could truely hide their thoughts from each other, but most have gained the ability to block static out to keep from going insane.

xxxAfter stretching for a brief moment, Zaq dropped down from the tree so Faerai wouldn't have a problem finding him, already feeling the intensity of her frustration. Obviously she had been looking for someone, and he was confident it had been him. Instead, he just kept his own mind calm, hoping that it would affect the confrontation that was approaching. A small smile grew on his face, it was momentary, but one full of joy. Others had found Faerai to bee strange with her shifting tattoos and odd shaped ears, yet Zaq thought them to be unique, just like Faerai herself. He tightened up the strapping on his clothing as he can now hear her approaching, and made himself look more formal. It was a rare moment to find Zaq not looking his best.

There is only one thing I fear... The silence that comes before disaster, the calm before the storm.

Faerai Daegen
Hivemind

XXXAs she reached the forest she felt a sense of calm envelope her mind. As she did she heard a quiet, gentle thought questing towards her. She was excited as she approached the base of the tree at which he stood. He was one of the very few in the Hive that had really accepted her. Even for the abnormalities of the Hive, she was the worst off. With her tattoos, her ears, and her eyes, not many had accepted her as readily as Zaq had.

XXXShe already felt calmer with his presence nearby. She was smiling lightly as she walked up to him, a gentle look dominating her features which was only present with him nearby. Without him, she was back to her angry-at-the-world, I-hate-everybody mood which was her norm. Her eyes softened, if that were possible with the way her eyes appeared, and her tattoos calmed their frantic antics and settled in their normal positions. Up her legs, arms, and across her flat stomach.

XXXAs she approached Zaq she was fiddling with the ends of her sleeves, trying to keep her anger down, which was quite easy with him nearby, but she wasn't quite sure how to act if she wasn't angry. So looked at him and looked around at their surrounds before speaking. She spoke softly, unlike the harsh that was her norm. "So. What do you make of all this?" She moved to stand at his side, but decided it best to keep her distance and see how he reacted to her in this outside world.

xxxZaq approached Faerai, placing his hands upon her shoulders as he looked at her. After a few moments, he dropped his hands and walked towards the tree he was in earlier with a small sigh, it was the first time he had seen Faerai since they released all of the experiments, and he didn't know how to truely react. He was glad to see her, yet there was hesitation in his actions. It probably was the question she had asked, something about the whole situation made him uneasy. Once he leaned on the tree though, he felt at ease again, allowing a smile to form on his face slightly.

xxxHe had realized just how quiet Faerai was, and she was all fidgety. Over the time they've known each other, Zaq was sure she had some feelings towards him, but he was always afraid he'd fail her, so he never admitted his own feelings and was careful not to display them. Her softened tone and nervous movements were cute, and he somewhat blushed at some of his thoughts before he had decided to finally answer her question.

xxxHe was used to speaking through the hivemind, finding benefits with silence when others were about. "I am not entirely sure, but it probably deals with the Unborn..." For some reason, the name seemed to make his teeth clench as false memories rose from his subconscious. "I think the scientists are finally going to let us fight it out. Probably as another experiment to show which breed is superior." He knew exactly what they were, but never like admitting it. They were rats, expendable creatures to benefit the human race, never planned to be anything more.

xxxWalking back towards Faerai, Zaq's hair wisped slightly to the left as another gentle breeze came through the forest. "I assume you've seen other parts of this place? Care to share?" He shot some images of the areas he had explored into her mind, showing the clear flowing river that was surrounded by the forest they were in, but much farther away. It was all he had found, and liked it so much he stayed for a while.

xxxThen Zaq added one more thing before she would share her sights, "It's nice to see you again."

There is only one thing I fear... The silence that comes before disaster, the calm before the storm.

Faerai Daegen
Hivemind

XXXShe watched him closely. As he placed his hands on her shoulders her face brightened visibly. Frowning slightly as she walked with him back to the tree she noticed he was uneasy. Being here, out in the open, an unknown world was quite a frightening concept. She was quite scared herself, twisting the end of her tattered skirt tightly in her hands. Zaq's face colored slightly and her head tilted minutely to the side as she looked at him.

XXXHe spoke to her using the hivemind and she smiled ever so slightly. The sound of his voice in her head was clear as a bell and without any of the other hivemind around, his voice was uninhibited by others thoughts. "I am not entirely sure, but it probably deals with the Unborn..." At that one word, her hair inflamed, quite literally, and her eyes flashed at some hatred which came from an unknown source.

XXXIt took some effort on her part, but with the presence of Zaq, she was able to calm down considerably. Her hair was still fired up, but that was not quite such an abnormal thing. Zaq turned back to walk towards her and she clenched her hands into fists, trying to clench the anger that was rising in her. The only thing she accomplished in doing was setting her hands alight in twin fire balls; as yet unhurled. She kept them there, unhurled, unspent, because she knew how dangerous it would to let the fire loose into the woods.

XXX"I assume you've seen other parts of this place? Care to share?" In her head she saw images of a river, in another part of the forest. She thought about the volcano, a physical place she felt more at home then anywhere except at Zaq's side. Her hands still burned at her side and the smell of smoke was beginning to fill the air; which was always odd, seeing as how nothing really burned by her hand it was just... fire. Before she could show him what she'd seen he added, "It's nice to see you again."

XXXFaerai thought a moment, her fires dimmed, and she smiled slightly. 'It's good to see you as well.' She was oddly formal out here in the 'real' world. Her fires continued to dim, but did not go out as she spoke. 'There is just about everything on this island. There is a volcano, to the... uhm, north east; that is where I spent most of my time. Directly to the north of here, I saw a mountain. There is a small bog that lies directly between here and the mountain. You've seen the river and this forest... As far as I've seen that's all there is.

xxxPleased to know that at least one of them had seen most of the island, Zaq turned and faced north, where the mountain should be. Considering their surroundings with Faerai's detailed layout of the island, he figured the mountain would be the most effective and most dangerous place to be. Effective as it would give him, combined with Faerai, and elemental advantage over opposition. Dangerous as it placed them in the open with little to no cover if something went astray. The river was too obvious and carried more disabilities than anything else, the forest was comfortable, but against those with heightened senses, was not ideal. The bog was similar to the forest, probably worse, and the volcanoe is like the mountain but with more unpredictability.

xxxYet the idea of the volcanoe became increasingly more popular with him as he thought of the smoke cover and it would attune with both Faerai and him equally. Not to mention it would provide good warmth on cold nights and had natural protection. The ash would cause problems to most, but Faerai was probably immune and Zaq could easily create an airstream that would provide the both of them with clean air and keep the soot out of their lungs. The only issue would be food and water, which they could set out to gather supplies here and there.

xxxTurning back towards Faerai, Zaq had decided that he would let her choose after he had told her his thoughts on it. Luckily, the hivemind made it easy. He explained why he felt the way he did with each area, and suggested the volcanoe unless she knew better, which she would. "So... What do you think." He noticed her flaming hands and almost wanted to blow them out, yet was unsure if he could. Her fire was not natural, so simply making a gust come by probably will not be enough. That was when he stepped up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder again, "They'll get their punishment, don't worry." Of course he was talking about the Unborn, as it was obvious she caught ablaze at that moment. His thoughts were gentle, as was the weight of his hand.

There is only one thing I fear... The silence that comes before disaster, the calm before the storm.

Kiyﺴ۩

Up by the Volcano two figures could be seen examining the surrounding terrain. "I told you that we weren't alone I can see some movment in the forest. I say we see who it is. What do you think Kiy? "I hear nothing unusual, but I think we should get closer. I want to see the forest anyways. I'm tired of the smell of brimstone around here. Besides I want to go to a more private place with you." And with that Kiy kissed Blindside and they held each other in their arms for a moment before remembering where they were.

Don't worry my love we will be able to live together in peace once we win this contest. I will make sure of it. And with that he headed down to the forest with Kiy. Together they sensed everything around them.

Renko looked over some new data that she had recieved from the experiments done today. "If we limit the neuro-signals here and transfer them to the frontal lobe instead...," she murmured quitely to herself. As usual, she was alone in her room, which was plain except for a bed, table, and shelves full of books, binders, and notes. The clock, which was kept accurate to the second, read 12:16 AM, but that wouldn't have bothered her even if she cared to look at the clock, staying up this late was a part of the job, despite what the other interns thought. she thought to herself as she continued analyzing the data, murmuring, "...electrical impulses should set off the needed reactions between the axioms located in the spinal cord...." Normally, others would look over this data as a group, but she preferred to figure it out by herself first and then tell others what she thought. Renko continued to examine the rows of numbers and symbols that made up the majority of her world.

Eleanore rolled on her back. She was sprawled beneath the branches of a tree, at the bottom of a small hill. How had she gotten at the bottom of the hill? Easy: she tripped. And boy she was glad when that lovel tree stopped her downwards tumble thanks to its extremely stable, extremely not soft trunk. She moaned a wriggled a little to stay listlessly across the forest floor.
At least she didn't break any bones.
She peered at a butterfly that had alighted on her nose, which she believed to be the cutest bug she'd ever seen. The way it's sheer wings fluttered. That sort of thing. Eleanore hadn't seen a butterfly before, in person; it was very pretty.

Faerai Daegen
Hivemind

XXXHe placed his hand gently on her shoulder,'They'll get their punishment, don't worry.' At these words, she calmed. The fire in her palms thinned, to a small layer all over her hand. She concentrated the fire in the palm of her hand and clenched her fist, making the fire go out. His hand was soft, as were his words.

XXXFaerai thought a moment before answering. 'The volcano would be my first choice; for all the reasons you mentioned...' She trailed off and stared into the distance, not quite sure what else to add. After a moment, she shook herself out of it and hesitantly reached out to take his hand. 'Come one, let's go. We'd do well to see what- and more importantly who- is around.'

XXXShe gently pulled him forward, her hands still quite warm after the fire. Though the fire she created could not harm herself, some of the others in the Hivemind had been previously injured when the scientists had caused Faerai to lose her temper. She did not, in any stretch of the imagination, like it when the poked and probed her; though that was often not what caused her to explode. It was when they studied and prodded Zaq that they had best be wary.

XXXShe sighed quietly as past memories flashed in her mind. Some she wondered about, having to do with the Unborn. She did not genuinely remember having met a single one face to face; at least... not really. Though how could she deny that she had when the anger-filled memories were there, plain as ash? She furtively glanced around as she and Zaq exited the trees and started their way through the bog. A flash of movement caught the corner of her eye, but when she looked back, no one was there. 'Must be the trees.' She thought to herself; or tried to... with the Hivemind, there really were no personal thoughts.

XXXFaerai looked at Zaq again and almost smiled. His hand, around hers, was soft. As on who had never worked a day in his life. Hers on the other hand, were quite rough. Parts of her body had hardened past the toughness of regular skin to cope with the fire. Though her fire could not harm her, the tissue had, at one time early in her experiment life, thought that it did, and so created scar tissue that hardened. Her hands, and her scalp, where her fire generally concentrated, were the areas that had hardened. The scientists had stopped the creation of the hardened tissue, but the damage had already been done; there was no reversing it.

xxxMoving throught the trees, Zaq already began to miss the silence of life. The sweet scent of all the flowers and leaves were some of the few great things he had experienced so far. He breathed in deeply once more as he saw the exit of the forest. When they entered the bog, the silence was the same, but with the abscence of life. Everything he saw seemed to be rotting or dying. It was the kind of silence that was not magical, but natural. It was natural for death to bring silence, but in life, silence was something that had to be found. The sight made him look down at his hand.

xxxZaq was holding Faerai's hand, which most others would find distastefully rough, yet he found quite comforting. It was often warm and never clamy. There was a time that he asked her about it, and the hivemind allowed him to see what she had gone through to obtain such hands. Zaq disliked the scientist for what they had done to her and others, but still not as much as the Unborn. He gave her a gentle squeeze, and continued forward until Faerai mentioned something.

xxx'Must be the trees.' That was a phrase that always ended in disaster. Even his eyes darted about to try and see what Faerai had caught a glimpse of. There was nothing. He felt uneasy now though, not wanting to run into an enemy at their current location. After taking in a breath of air, he calmed himself. Together, he and Faerai wouldn't have to worry about being attacked, they could probably take on a small force if needed. 'What did you think you saw?' He was curious, and he held onto Faerai's hand a bit more tightly as they began to pick up the pace. At first he thought is was Faerai moving faster, but under closer inspection, it was him. A wind had picked up from behind, making their movement quicken.

xxxThat's when he got an idea. He grasped onto Faerai's wrist now, instead of her hand. The wind began to increase even more. Slowly, they lifted off of the ground. Zaq had always wanted to do this, but the facility was too small and had little space to try. They were flying, it was a little shaky, but nonetheless they were in the air. Zaq's hair went in everydirection as they began to soar, falling gracefully with a little wind to keep them from smashing into the ground. The island itself was amazing, everything seemed to be in harmony. He wondered if it was built, or if it was natural. 'You okay.' He asked, as he realized he had not seen her reaction in all of this.

There is only one thing I fear... The silence that comes before disaster, the calm before the storm.
