Yay its December, that means Santa is coming!!!! Are you ready to open gifts? Have you been good or bad this year because you know Santa is making a list and checking it twice!!!

Its time for our annual Christmas avatar contest, so dig through your closet and pull out your best holiday outfit and strut your stuff!!!

- Each member may submit one regular and two TekTek avis.
- tektek avis should be PMed to Gothichearts so they may be anonymous

Voting will be from December 15 to the 30. Members may vote for three regular and three TekTek. You cannot vote for yourself and please vote fairly.

EDIT: - Voting will be from Monday the 21st until December the 30th. Winners will either be announced that day, or on the 31st. I hope this helps people who are having trouble, but I hope it doesnt make it harder for the voters.

- Since everyone prefers anonymous voting to keep things fair, were going to do it again! PM your votes to me, Gothichearts.
The winners will receive a December Thank You Letter!!!

There will be a corresponding Christmas party on December 10th, The location TBA!

Erm, you might not want to say "Christmas Avatar Contest" because not everyone celebrates Christmas.

And if it's for the holidays, does that mean we have to dress in the spirit of a holiday or for the winter season? o.o;

What? Everyone doesnt celebrate Christmas? I didnt know that. In my opinion, taking Christmas and Santa out of the holiday season is like taking firecrackers out of the 4th of July or the cake out of a wedding! Its traditional, mysterious and fun.

I like the contest the way it is, but since not everyone celebrates Christmas, I suggest we make it all tektek and have a Christmas portion and a winter portion. What do you think?

Christmas means the celebration of Jesus' birth.
"Christmas" is more of a Christian/Catholic term.

Jews call Christmas "Hanukkah"
Some Jews don't celebrate it....
Others celebrate it because they have children,
since Hanukkah is more of a children celebration.

Usually people call Christmas "Winter Holidays"
But I call it Christmas, since I grew up in a Christian/Catholic family.

I agree. Christmas is a time for families to gather and celebrate the birth of Jesus, and since we obviously cannot give Him a gift, we celebrate by giving gifts to those we love. Christmas has become so commercialized its ridiculous, and science has taken the religion out of it (and everything) that it has lost its original meaning. I understand that some people do not celebrate the traditional Christmas, but I think its wrong to try to take it away from those who do. I feel it should be a Christmas celebration contest and those who do not want to participate do not have to.

Back to the reason Im here biggrin I want to enter my real avi into the contest and I will make some tekteks later.

Im new to the clan so I dont have any pull, but my vote is for Christmas to stay Christmas. Like queen of the animated said, people dont have to play if they dont want to. That said, can I enter my avi in the contest?

And while we're at it, I'd like to toss in my 2 cents. XD I'm agnostic, but I absolutely love celebrating Christmas as an American tradition, and few things bring about a feeling a love an connectedness like Christmas. Its very culturally relevant because it did stem out of my ancestor's (and current family's) religion, and I appreciate the link to the past that it provides and the intricate symbolism that I can be uniquely immersed in. My vote is totally for keeping it Christmas. heart

Whether you celebrate it or not, Christmas IS an internationally recognized holiday both as a religious icon and a traditional day that is special to the hearts of many. To me, it means the awe inspiring birth of Jesus, the excitement of the coming of Santa for children and the anticipated gathering of family for everyone. Not to mention all the delicious foods that are served. mrgreen In my opinion, to even suggest that we not celebrate Christmas in the clan is wrong. Most of us celebrate it at home with our friends and family, so why shouldnt we be allowed to celebrate it with our Gaia friends as well? Its only an avi contest after all and is not a religious passage.

PLEASE DONT TAKE CHRISTMAS AWAY FROM US!

Now that I have that off my chest, I want to enter my real avi and please title it "The excitement of Christmas morning."

Nuuuu! You cant do this! Christmas is important to so many of us that taking it away would be unfair. Like someone said, if you dont celebrate Christmas, then simply dont enter the contest. Easy fix.

Whoa. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes or anything! o.o;;;

I was just bringing the idea up, since I know that people in forums usually have a stink when an event around this holiday season is labeled as a "Christmas Event". Personally, while I'm not religious, I celebrate Christmas. I just wanted to bring up that not everyone does, just in case we do come to the problem where a member doesn't feel comfortable with the contest being more involved with Christmas.

Just trying to accommodate for everyone ^^;

Maybe we could have a challenge round for people to enter a tektek or real avatar holiday/Christmas related that doesn't involve any Christmas event or such items? I mean, I know that's what the contest is about, but we're going to get a lot of avatars wearing similar things or people putting on any past Christmas item and ones from shops too.

Sorry, I know I'm just crazy, but I love seeing variety ^^;;
