For those who may not know Super Robot Wars (SRW), is the ultimate mecha crossover series of all time. Gameplay takes place in the form of a turned based strategy RPG in which characters from a number of real (gundam type realistically built mechs) and super (big strong and kinda slow) robot series come together in epic combat against a common foe that threatens all the heroes worlds.
series that have been included are as follows (but certainly not limited to) gundam (just about every series except i think 00) Mazinger Z/Great Mazinger/ Mazinkaiser UFO Robo Grendizer (also part of the mazinger series) Getter Robo G/ Shin Getter Robo/ Getter Robo Armageddon? Dragonar Aura Battler Dunbine Combattler V Voltes V Martian Successor Nadesco Hades Project Zeorymer Neon Genesis Evangelion The Big-O Full Metal Panic! Tekkaman Blade
The list goes on and on, as well as a host of original characters and mechs. The problem is, most of these games will never see an official US release due to all the copyright banpresto (a part of bandai-namco) would have to go through. there have only been three SRW games to actually see an official release, under the name Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation/2 and OG Saga: Endless Frontier (the last being a spinoff RPG). These games feature only the original characters and mecha and combine the overaching stories of the other games into one.
However there are people out there who are working on unofficial releases of the rest of the games in the series. KaioShin and KingCom and there team at romhacking.net are close to bringing us SRW J(GBA) and are working on SRW D(GBA) and SRW F(sega saturn). Aeon Genesis Translation Projects (AGTP) has already brought us SRW 3 (SNES) and SRW Alpha Gaiden(PS1) and is currently working on SRW 4(SNES) SRW Alpha(PS1) SRW EX(SNES) and Mashokishin-The Lord of Elemental SRW Gaiden(SNES).
if you are a fan of the series please support these groups in bringing us these wonderful games, and support Atlus for bringing us the 3 games we do have in america and hound their A**es to bring us the other 2 OG games!!
PS i apologize for posting this semi rant. anyone who dislikes the series or me for that matter has my deepest apologies
