Aura Definition

1. An invisible breath, emanation, or radiation.
2. A distinctive but intangible quality that seems to surround a person or thing; atmosphere
3. Pathology. A sensation, as of a cold breeze or a bright light, that precedes the onset of certain disorders, such as an epileptic seizure or an attack of migraine.

Some people view it as nothing more than the heat that our body creates, and yet to a spiritual healer it is source of information which determins a persons health and mood based on colours or strength of the aura they sense. There are 3 layers. One which surrounds the central part of the human torso, the second expands up to 3 feet beyond the physical body, and the third can encompas a small room. They do have names, but I don't feel like running down to my basement to find the notes from my courses to confirm them.

Sensing your aura

The middle aura is the one most healers work with as it is the easiest to find and contains most of the details about the person. To find it is as easy as recognizing your Personal space, that comfort level between you and someone you happen to be talking with.

With this exercise you will need the assistance of a friend. Sit on a low back, chair, stool or even the floor. Have your friend step behind you about 6 feet or so hold out their arm and start wiggling their fingers. Then while you continue to face forward the friend will walk towards you (still wiggling those fingers) until you can feel something brushing/tingling your back, or the friend actually touches you. Then when you feel something. Tell the friend to stop and see how far they are. If you were able to sense them without them touching you that should give you a rough idea as to how far out your middle aura extends.

Chakra Definition

1. One of the seven centers of spiritual energy in the human body according to yoga philosophy.

Actually, there have been some variations over the years around that. The 7 main ones are still being recognized within the body, but there is also some mention of 21 sub chakras in the body and another 5 main ones which extend from our aura and into other dimentions. Myself, I can sense up to the 8th and the sub chakras in feet, hands and shoulders but any of the ones existing in the torso don't stand out above the main one.

Sensing Chakras
Chakras are energy points of the body the main 7 are located around the groin area, lower tummy, just below the rib cage, the heart, throat, forehead and crown (top of the head). The 8th for anyone interested is about a foot and 1/2 above the top of the head.

Extend your hand out as far as your arm will go in front of one of the chakra areas. Then slowly draw your hand towards your body. If this works you should feel a bit of building pressure on your hand as you move closer to the chakra.

If these expariments don't work. Don't fret. Either you just need to practice or this isn't part of your calling.

This is an aura reading too?? Wow. I never knew WHAT I was getting myself into. xd I'm always talking to people about the 'aire' that someone gives off, or their overall 'atmosphere', or 'feel'. For anyone that I get remotely close to, I get this overall very distinct associative feeling. I have yet to be wrong, when I trust that instinct. I always thought it dealt with my empathy, though. I didn't know it was dealing with the auras at all. eek Maybe I'm not meant to see the actual colours, but just this...

Yep, it is a way to sense someones aura, and it does involve Empathic abilities (being able to feel what another is feeling). And not everyone can "see" an aura, but we do have other senses and for some, one or more of those other senses may be more sensitive to auras and spirit instead (which is why Mediums refere to themselves as clairvoyant, clairaudient, and/or clairsentient). But because we live in a "sight" orientated world, it is the ability that most psychics try to develop first, and it makes things confusing for those whos gifts lay in a different sense. wink

Wow, how fascinating! Yeah, I always joke around with others on how I am 'blind' psychically; I get some of the best feelings and readings with my eyes closed. xd Ah, so it is partially empathic...that makes sense, since my empathy can sometimes go off the charts. Quite annoying. This is so cool. XD

Having your eyes closed is common. Less stimuli and distractions, for starters, but also other senses have to compensate and allows intuition, E.S.P, and/or hightened awareness to come into play as well.

What do you mean when you say
Wings of Aegis
my empathy can sometimes go off the charts.

Hopefully, you are not Sympathetic...where occasionally the emotions of others become part of you and not only do you feel the emotion, but you express it as well.

I used to be incredibly what you call 'Sympathetic'. I'm learning to separate my emotion's from others quite well, though. I still feel the emotions loud and clear, but I'm slowly getting to the point where I don't let the emotions affect my own emotions. Sometimes, my 'shields' go up from too much imput, though, and I don't know how to control those yet. sweatdrop

I'm glad your shields go up. Not that being able to feel other peoples emotions is bad or anything, but for those who can't cope with an emotional overload, it can prove to be very draining. There are ways to open your shields a small amount so that you can still feel the emotions of the other person, but not let too much of the emotion in.

In the case of emotions you will need to work in the areas of your heart and abdomen. These are the emotion centers of the body. To open them you can either touch in front of one or both of these areas or hold your hand(s) a couple of inches away from your body. Then slowly make small clockwise motion infront of those chakras, and as you do so you can imagine that it acts like rolling down a very small car window. This can help control how much of the other persons emotions you let in. When you want to close up the chakra, you place your hand in front and slowly pull up. As you close imagine that your hand is taking with it the other persons emotions as well. Then when the chakra is closed, imagine you are holding the emotions in your hand like a ball of fluff and using your breath blow it out of your hand. (you may send best wishes, prayers or healing energy with it as well)

With practice you can learn to open up and close the chakra with a simple touch of your finger. Sort of an up grade from a hand crank to power windows. xd

*giggles at the last part* Hey! Thank you! I'm getting lots of shielding lessons, it would seem, the past two days. At least you were kind and explained without getting on my case about being too much of a pacifist... rolleyes *laughs*

I will DEFINITELY try this out! Yeah, I got on overload so easy...I got diagnosed bipolar, but I really think it's more from outer input than an inner chemical thing, just because no medication seems to touch it. *shrugs* And the more I can control the emotions coming in, the less it seems that I'm 'afflicted'. So, this will probably help even more. Thanks again! 3nodding

It's no big deal. I hope it helps.

I can "see" auras. As in I don't see them through sight, but rather through emotions and my mind. I can sense my own aura too. I still need to remember what the colors resemble though.

But I don't know if it will be of much help

So what are some of the benefits of chakra control? as in, are there things you can do with it, or use it for?

Chakras are energy converters. They help direct our bodies energy flow into a necessary focus depending on our activities and interests. Each chakra is believed to represent various human aspects, personal skills, and activities. Depending on the activity, the coresponding chakra will redirect the necesary energy to assist us. The healthier the chakra, the better the flow, and the easier it is for us to complete the activity.

Does that help a bit?
If not I've added some web sites you can check out

I can also help answer this question, applegreen.

I find that I naturally tap into another chakra's system when I am involved with energetic Reiki healing, especially if there is healing to be done along certain meridian lines.

When meditating by myself, if I focus on certain chakra areas, I find I can bring about energetic balance within my system, and become more aware of how meditating on a certain chakra affects my whole being.

Here are a couple of links that you might find interesting:

Meridian Charts:
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the meridians are the channels through which Chi (the body's vital Life force) flows. These are inter-related with the Main Seven Chakra Energy whorls, so, by stimulating these channels changes can be made in the local area, as well as distal parts of the body and its organs.
