Ok, everyone listen up. Fumeiyo wants this place active again, so she called me (the infamous Sherlawk Dragon) back to see if I could get things to happen again.

SO: I'm not even sure who's here and who's not. I'm pretty sure most of the people who wanted me gone left themselves soon after I did (those are some good members). So I want everyone to play a little "game" for me.
Reply to this post with your (were-)name, theriotype, and what you want out of the guild. (and anything else you think we should know) Just like the intro forum, except for people who are already here. By knowing who's actually here and what they are interested in, we'll be able to figure out the best way to proceed.

I'm going to start.
I'm Sherlawk Dragon, a Raccoon / Dragon therian (the two are separate), and I'm here because I like to chatter and I have nothing better to do. My other interests/expertise include programming, metaphysics, and music (mainly non-mainstream punk, my favorite bands being Crass, Fifteen, and my own solo work).
I'm the vice-captain of this guild because Fumeiyo had to get rid of the old one and I was the only person who was around. I exiled myself until just now because people didn't like me and were more interested in getting angry at me than anything else, thus making my presence detrimental, but Fumeiyo decided that having me around and making my controversial posts was better than having no one at all, so here I am.
I probably will say some negative things to you, and it may feel like I am singling people out (I may well be, though not often), but I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, I'm just blunt (and I like to troll). Therianthropy is a serious topic, and I'm not going to water things down or be blindly supportive of you when I have a thought about something. (in other words, if you post something like "Am I a therian?" or "I'm having doubts..." I will probably say something along the lines of "You are not a therian because [some reasons]") I've seen too many problems from people being nice for the sake of being nice, and not giving answers which will actually help someone. I also don't say "please" and "thank you" sometimes, but that doesn't mean I'm trying to be ungrateful.
I also ramble alot, like I'm doing right now. You can usually get what I'm saying at the beginning of a post if you really don't want to read it, but I like to think most of what I say is worth reading.

Yo my name is sagehawk, usually know as suen in the therian/vampire communities. My theriotype is leopard. and what i want out of the guild is serious description about therianthorpy and to share experiences and theories. Perhaps start a serious study of therians in general(like the huge servey vampires are doing at the moment to collect data in their own communities. to see if certain traits really are common).

My other interests include graphic design, video games, religion(especially paganism) and nature walks.

My name's Catharia, or Johquil, a domestic cat therian.
I too wouldn't mind a survey of the therian community, with measures taken to ensure it's scientific relevance (by that I mean no leading questions, a survey size that's appropriate and if there's a multiple choice section an ability to enter an 'other').
My other interests include animal health and welfare, sci-fi/fantasy, food, and art.

Well Hi to both of you! Nice to see it's not truly abandoned!

That's a good suggestion, but Gaia's not a good place for that, and Weresource and similar sites are already doing things like that. We could do our own demographics or something, but I doubt there's enough people for that. In any case, I was referring to things that we can do for you PERSONALLY as a Guild. eg "I want advice on how to cope with [issue]" or "I'd like to see who feels the same about things like [issue]" or even "I just want to have fun with fellow therians! (this is Gaia after all)", stuff that a forum is really good for.

I do like the guild's role as a supportive environ, without people popping up and calling us crazies. I know I'm mentally unhinged, I don't need someone without proper psychological training to point that out to me.

I'm also happy with the idea of an agony ant bit...though I can see problems that would occur there, I've done that for another forum which was completely unrelated to therianthropy. Having said that I'm rather strapped for time at the moment, university is such a drain on free time, especially when you're a pre-vet sweatdrop

Well, members would PM us with a problem/issue they were having, we'd post the solution/advice we'd use to remedy the situation, and other members could post their feedback in the same post. It tends to work better in tight communities, where's there isn't alot of back-biting. Names are often changed to protect the guilty.
I ended up doing it for about a year before the forum imploded.

well sure, but a serious scientific study can come from anywhere! a small guild or a big website, it doesn't matter. This would personally help me in a sense that, it would easy my scientific mind. It would also be easier to help others if someone came and was like 'is this common?' we could give them scientific data instead of "well some say this... and others this..." It would also make us more credible once this hits main stream news/media. Which it will just give it time... So i think this important to the community as a whole. Then others wouldnt be dictating what we are because we would already have a whole study for them.

Other sites are doing personal experience studies... I want to know medical history, family back ground, whether the moon really affects us or not, specific physical traits etc. I want to know everything. So then we can pin point what exactly makes a therian a therian... well maybe not exactly... but a part of me would feel less crazy if I had 'proof' so to speak.(I dont necessarily want YOU to do it. But if the people here in general were interested in getting together to form legitimate questions, thats what I would want). If I could i'd do brain scans and everything but since im limited that wont happen so questions is all I got.

but I do want everything else you've said out of this guild as well. just thought i'd bring up the most important thing to the community at large, finding out why.

I could set something up like that. You mean like if we had people anonymously give out problems and other people try to give them advice? Possibly through a stickied topic?

That's pretty much what we did, yeah biggrin - We found it helped members feel more involved too.

@ Sagehawk - It's nice to know I'm not the only scientist trying to come to grips with my therianthropy, and would only be too happy to help you in any way I can mrgreen Brain scans would be quite awesome, but very expensive, medical history on the other hand...not too difficult.

You should look into some of the stuff that Savage was supposedly doing when I first found the Therian community. I've considered doing my part, but it doesn't seem to give a high reading on my Give-A-s**t-Ometer. neutral
Anyway, I'm gonna look into setting up some stuff now...

Hi guys and gals, I'm back. I stopped dropping by earlier, because every topic seemed to get off topic and became more a back and forth between real life friends and issues they were dealing with.

But as I said I am back and looking to get back into the swing of things. As far as what I want out of this forum I am in agreement with the others, ya know; a forum that helps figure out more out the therian side of us, the common traits and personality quirks and the stories of life experiences as a therian.

Oh and I have question that I would like answered from the wolf therians here: The phase of the moon that holds influence over my wolf side seems to switch every so often from full moon to new moon, as well as it seems there are some months where it doesn't affect me at all. Any similar experiences and hopefully some answers...

The effect of the moon on us is generally considered to be complete myth. The moon has a general affect on everyone, and it does affect global energies (unrelated magical stuff), but there is no proof that any sort of affect from the moon is anything but imagination. Also: why are you directing that towards 'wolf' therians?
EDIT: actually, if you're going to start a new conversation, you should make a new thread for it...

Because I figured they would have the most personal experience with it.
