THe definates so far
Denver
Falcons

Vikings
Saints

Problem is, you can't say they are the definates, until they have secured a playoff spot, They are the favorites, but not definates. And I think Sunday was a reality check for some of these teams.

Denver is on the fast track to winning the West, I believe they are capable of winning their division faster than any other team in the NFL right now, but San Diego's big win yesterday shows that they aren't giving up without a fight, and they still have one more game against the Broncos to even the series. And they played well enough in their first game to show they have what it takes to win.

The Falcons dropped what should have been a winnable game yesterday against Dallas, and the Saints only added more to their bid as thee NFC elite with their come back from behind victory against Miami. Though 4-2 is still an impressive record at this point, and the division is still winnable, falling another game behind the Saints makes a legit comeback less likely. At this point it is realistic that the Falcons might make the playoffs as a Widlcard... at best.

The Colts are also in a good position to wrap up their division quickly, but the Texans have emerged as a potential threat to the Colts if they don't watch their backs. A safe bet, but once again not something you can say is definate.

The Vikings still lead the North, but yesterdays loss showed how vunerable this team can be, that and this team is really close to being a 4-3 team with their too close a call victories over the 49ers and Baltimore. And with the Packers big win yesterday, next weekends matchup is pivotal. A loss next week to the Packers and the division is literally up for grabs.

The Saints at this point I think is the closest team you have to being a definate playoff team right now. But they still have to play Atlanta twice, including their big matchup next weekend. A loss next week to the Falcons won't knock them out of first, but would drop moral for a team that has started 5-0 once before, and missed the playoffs down the stretch.

The N.Y. Giants started off a top team, but back to back losses to the Saints and Cardinals really hurt this team. Next weekends game against the Eagles is critical. A loss to a division rival, and a Dallas win over a weak Seattle team could knock the G-men off the top of their division.

Bottom line is, a lot of safe bets, many of the teams you listed I would agree should be able to make the playoffs. But to go as far as say they are definites, we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.

Its interesting to call the Falcons a definite team making the playoffs. Especially after losing to Dallas. So you call them contenders for a wild card, I got news for you. If for whatever reason these two teams have the same record by the end of the year and both are wild card worthy....guess who's going to be left out? It won't be the team with the star on their helmet.

You are right, but the problem is that that scenerio is in case of a Tie. Dallas is playing good football now, but have had a tendancy to fall apart and miss out on the playoffs in the second half of the season. The Falcons are still a solid contending team, and there are two wildcard spots, if Dallas and the Falcons fail to win their divisions, they are two very likable teams to get those wildcard spots.

At this point we cannot say who are in, but we can tell you who are out. Here are the list of teams which have been given a 0% chance to make the playoffs according to Accuscore.

Tennessee Titans
Oakland Raiders
Kansas City Chiefs
Cleveland Browns
Detroit Lions
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
St. Louis Rams
Washington Redskins
Carolina Panthers

Which means there are 23 teams still alive and have a shot at making the playoffs
