i would have to interview with the vampire or underworld. they are the most accurate ones i have read or seen. i do find small flaws though. in interview with the vampire, the way the man is changed to a vampyr is impossible. if any human gets vampyr blood in their stomach, they WILL die. and in underworld, vampyrs do NOT desintegrate in the sun and food is NOT lethal. i love vampyrs and wish there was some 100% accurate books/movies about them. trust me, if you want to know about vampyrs, i am a very reliable source.

The definition of a vampire will change from author to author/source to source, so there's always be differences you find or 'flaws'.

Jaar-Gillon The definition of a vampire will change from author to author/source to source, so there's always be differences you find or 'flaws'. to me it sounds like you are saying that vampyrs are something that were made up, something thats fake and just for entertainment. no. vampyrs are so much more than that.

My point was that looking at vampire movies and novels, what is considered a vampire and what they can and cannot do varies from each piece of literature's author or movie director/script-writer. Whether I believe vampires are real or not is irrelevant, and you've assumed that I implicated they were for entertainment only (where did I say or suggest such a thing?). If you're suggesting there is one 'true' definition of a vampire, then you're starting a discussion which is as legit as 'what is the one true god', and we'll stop here.

I like Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan. *book* smile It doesn't have as much romance like other vampire stories.

Vampires are considered to be characters of myth and fiction and therefore those who choose to write about them give them the characteristics and environment of their liking.
Obviously there are the classic legends in which vampires were harmed by the sun, garlic, holy water, etc. However, more modern myths have mostly put an end to the original myths and given their own twist to vampires. Vampires are no longer blood thirsty beast only to be cast as villains but now they are kind, and don't drink the blood of humans...some even sparkle...-cringe. It's totally irrelavent as to whether or not you, me, or anyone else believes in the true existence of vampires because in our society they are mythical creatures for entertainment.
---
I love vampires, though they have become WAY to popular in mainstream society, I missed the days whenever it was weird to like them. I really like True Blood, Moonlight, Blood Ties, the Underworld, Anne Rice's vampires, and Twilight (though her idea for sparkling vampires was absolutely horrid! -twitch). I love Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake novels, the first three books of the Vampire Kisses series, Persistence of Memory, the Black Dagger Brotherhood, the Nightworld series, and the Historian was sort of kinda a vampire book. ;]

Twilight is good, but the more I read from Bella's POV, the more I wish it was written in 3rd person. XD She's kind of an idiot.
But ANYTHING written by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes knocks Meyer out of the park. I kid u not, the book Ms. Rhodes wrote at the age of 13 is better than Twilight. All her vamp stuff is amazing. I'm kinda expecting her to dissapear for knowing 2 much. eek

I enjoy the Interview with the Vampire book series mostly. There was also a movie that came out about a year or two ago with a title along the lines of '30 Days of Night'. That movie really showed what I think vamps should be: Vicious and bloodthirsty.
I'm not really supportive of Twilight, though. I really can't help but sigh with confusion when someone brings up the sparkly vampire topic. Stephen King also made a pretty funny comment when someone said Twilight was better than Shakespeare.
