Actually, I just looked up our bird book and I think it might be a tawny frogmouth, which isn't actually an owl. sad They still look cool though!

Still a cool find. One thing I miss about Hawaii is running into interesting birds. Now it's a big day when I see a cardinal.

ahh, they are lovely!
you are so much better than i at capturing these images.
we do have many owls here, they sounds almost like doves, which can be confusing.
