1&2 First of all look the same. The lighting is a bit too harsh though. Its blowing out some of their faces. 3 is your best.

They decided to do the pictures in the afternoon outside, and there was no shade on the playground. crying I tried to tell them that it was not the best lighting, but I'm not quite pushy enough yet. I'll try to fix that in photoshop.
(oh dang, they are the same, are'nt they? *deletes one* didn't notice that, thanks!)

Ya. Big tip (I'm late but I thought I could quickly add a comment before I head off) don't have people face the sun. Turn them around if you can and have the sun backlight them.

Or you can do what I do, if the backgrounds nice and they like where they are but they're still facing the sun.. Find something to go in between the sun and them. I used to get either several large pieces of foam core (Which I did at first, not that great) or some translucent material and put them on these home made stands I made (Made out of wood - WOO! Go lowes!) and several C Clamps to hold them and it'd just soften the light from the sun enough to make a rather pleasing portrait.

But anywho, now I'm really late. haha! Gotta run!

good idea. sweatdrop
I tried to get a nicer position on the playground actually, but those shots didn't turn out well either. (lots of glare and the dog was not cooperating)
I think maybe I'll just have to try to clean up their faces a little in photoshop.
