I would guess Thriller is the most popular / common song. They play it everywhere, every year, on Halloween. Not just Halloween, people listen to the song for no reason. It plays all over the world everday. Plus everyone knows that song, and everyone knows the lyris by heart. And everyone has seen the music video, and can sing along to the song without forgetting the lyrics. Plus it was the first video, by a black man, to play on MTV. Back then, MTV didn`t play songs and music videos by black people.
Billie Jean and Beat It are other popular songs. We all know the lyrics by heart, and seen the music videos. Not to mention, we can sing along to them and they play somewhere on Earth everyday.

I heard Thriller was, but it doesn`t matter which video was first. Either way, he was the first black person to have a music video playing on MTV. Its actually cool, how MTV started playing music videos by black people, thanks to Michael Jackson. He made MTV not racist anymore. : D

I'm still caught up at the fact that she said she doesn't know...but I'll excuse that.
*clears throat*
Although Billie Jean was the first video on MTV that was made, sung, and performed by a African American artist, Thriller is the most popular MJ song of all time. The quality and the effects of the video is what caught some people's attention. Most of the music channels had to play this video in an hourly rotation to keep up with demands. Now I'm not talking about the skimpy 3 minute video we see now, I'm talking about the full video with the mini movie and everything!

I'd die if I ever heard a little say they don't know who Michael Jackson was. Though they are young. Matter of fact, I'll slap the parents if I heard that from a child.

I believe it has to be Billie Jean just because of some simple facts
1. It was this first African American video to be played on MTV, shattering the color boundary, but also the musical boundary (MTV was soley a "rock channel")
2. It is still played today on over 90% of the world's radio stations
3. And who can forget that historical moment at Motown 25?
4. It really was the song that helped Thriller become the all time best selling album
Although Thriller was great in the fact that the video was so revolutionary, and it has had an impact on modern culture, but Billie Jean was the one that made him so recognizable and loved and the icon that made him today
But that's just me smile
