I'm thinking about going over to the Gaia Exchange forum and doing my vending there, but I'm still a little stuck on whether I really should or just stick with my vending in the marketplace.

Any ideas or advice you can offer? Benefits of one over the other?

Every time I deal with the exchange it has been a big waste of precious time.

The exchange is not my cup of tea, but if you have a lot of extra time on your hands, by all means you are welcome to try it.

For me, it's the MP.

The downside is that there's the 2% tax, but at this point I'm used to taking that into consideration.

The upside is that I list my items and *walk away*. No negotiating via PM, no checking back with threads, no trades that stay half done for months. And for me, that's worth the 2%.

A lot of the really high end stuff is sold through the Exchange because of that 2% tax - it adds up when you're talking about 10s of millions of gold. So if I'm ever shopping for something in that range, I'll suck it up and go deal with the Exchange.

But for everyday stuff, the MP is so much easier.

I've never dealt in the gaia exchange, however I can see where if you're selling it can help gain's by relieving that 2% taken off. However if you're buying, look for the lowest price.

I would suggest the market.
I tried the exchange on numerous occasions, and I can usually never find any good deals......only inks.
But I do have bad luck when it comes to these things.

My grunnys don't like the exchange. Too many people who don't have any brains.

...
Wow, I know I'm late; I mean REALLY LATE, but
Stick with the MP, you don't have to deal with ppl and you can set your price based on your necessities and observed trends.

It seems no-one likes the exchange...
I actually like it. Haggling and all.

I like buying my commons and event items from the Exchange, because there's always someone with an "invo sale" going on, and I've been selling said commons in the MP with some profit. I've also been able to get people's DC junk (Nurse's hats, alien masks) for cheap and sell them back to store at a technically 150% profit.

Then again, I tend not to look for huge bargains, and settle for about 5k off LMP, and don't spend more than 150k on any one thing.

Also, if you have the time to look, people who want to get rid of stuff "fast" will sell you items for a cheaper price than I'd find in the MP at that time, which you may then list in the MP and reap that profit yourself.

To sell though, I'll stick with the MP, despite the tax and being limited to only 10 items at once.

Yeah, I've floated around the Exchange and see what it's like and I started to think about whether I should use that instead of the market all because of the whole 2% tax thing. =/ For now, I'm still sticking around the marketplace, but I'll keep what you guys said in mind. Thanks. =D

I'd go with the marketplace, people tend to check and double check the prices of stuff on the exchange, so you can't get a good profit out of people unless they're desperate to sell stuff.

2% isn't much when you think you're usually looking at a minimum of 5% profit (depending on the item)

I sell in the Marketplace, as it's simple and I don't need to monitor anything. As I don't sell anything too big, the tax doesn't bother me much

I buy in the exchange though. Much cheaper in general (although, of course, misprices give the biggest profit).

I don't like dealing with people when I buy things,so the marketplace.
Exchangers never want to give you anywhere near LMP on your items,so the 2% tax isn't a big deal

Lol,I'm the only one that voted for Exchange? xd
2% sometimes is a big deal, especially when selling an item worth millions.Sometimes that tiny 2% is around 200k.
