that sounds like the beginning of an alphabet game we used to do while travelling.
"And there were: armadillos, and baboons, and cheetahs, and dingos, and foxes, and gorillas, and hyenas, and jackals, and lynxes, and marmosets, and ...um...narwhals, and oxen, and...um...oh, drat!"
