Come in and enjoy a fresh pot of coffee and poke through what I have here. Below is my concept for one Camille Ellemond Moore, his story and his potential. Born and raised in Louisiana's Bayou how will this former Marine and Cajun Medic deal with the tasks before him? please critique to your heart's content.

Progress

New account means new starts I guess. Feel free to giggle because I most certainly am!
[ 12k / -- ]

[Quick Ref]
-Born 1981 in Louisiana to a Cajun mother, his father died before his birth.
-Had a relatively normal childhood despite the appearance of his mother's boyfriend. After this he was tossed around a lot.
-Has a little sister, Magnolia, born in 1992. He protects her with the ferocity of a mama-bear.
-Joined the Marine Corps in an ROTC type set up as a Nurse.
-Served in the war in the middle east as a field medic. On leave he met one Abigail Raines who became a sort of deep love interest.
-Shortly after being called to combat a mortar hit his squad and himself leaving him very badly injured especially his right leg which was nearly amputated because of the damage. The leg has never fully healed and is rather weak.
-During his rehabilitation Abby acquired a visa to help and stay with him. However, once her visa ran out she returned to England and unfortunately died in a vehicle accident.
-After coming to a detente with the situation Cam followed up on Abigail's passion for Japan and thus moved to Tokyo. This also aided in his proximity to his sister who is studying medicine in Australia.

-[Weapon] : Medic Bag?
-[Psyche] : Gryphon

Name: With a French mother, Cajun background and a late, wealthy father, Camille received his name by combining his lineage with tradition. His mother was far into Camille’s pregnancy when one Elliot Moore was shot behind a bar on a warm Louisiana night. A misfire User Imagewhile admiring a handgun left Jeanne-Marie a widow with only her aged mother to help raise the now fatherless child. Upon his birth, the boy was named Camille after Jeanne’s late father as had been agreed between the couple regardless of the child’s sex, and Ellemond after Elliot. Cam of course took his father’s surname making his complete name; Camille Ellemond Moore
Age: 29
Nationality: Cajun/American
Hometown: Broussard, Louisiana
Current Residence: Probably a cheap hotel until he can find a place.
Occupation: Nurse/Navy Field Medic
Talents/Skills: He used to be a field medic for the US Marine Corps giving him a pretty level head no matter what the crises. He has a very good sense on taking in the severity or health of a person by taking a quick once over. Given his background, he is quite the cook and can speak French (Parisian and Cajun) fluently.
Birth order: Oldest of two. [Camille (29) - - - Magnolia (18)]
Siblings (describe relationship): Cam has always been quite protective of his younger sister and over the years they’ve developed a small competitive nature between them, what with both entering the medical field. Despite seeing it as his duty being the older brother, Camille has always been the one to stick his neck out for his sister in many accounts. On the school yard he’d always watch her back, when she had her first boyfriend he ‘took him out for a ride’ to gauge his reliability and intentions through scaring him to death, and when the same boy broke her heart two years later he comforted her, Camille even went as far to not touch the family’s fund for higher education so that Magnolia will have a fighting chance paying for Medical School Bills when the come. He’d do anything for his little sister as a Marine, nurse and brother. There is also the whole, we were both named after flowers relationship that Magnolia uses to wind Cam up, however he has since gotten over it.
Parents (describe relationship): Camille will always be close to his mother but not like a son normally would. She’s seen more as a peer and less of a mother given that it had been the grandmother who had raised the child at a young age given the widow time to grieve. After spending five years in solitude with her he had seen her less parental and more like ‘the really overbearing babysitter’. However their relationship changed drastically when the new father stepped in. Dan was great man, Cam was sure, but as ‘not really marriage’ quickly followed the first months of dating even the 6 year old had an off feeling about the man. To Dan, Cam was really no more than the extra baggage with Jean-Marie who was exotic and fun. It only proceeded to get worse when Magnolia was born. Dan seemed interested in the child at first but eventually cast her off as well before diving into the bottle. This sparked the protective nature within Camille towards Magnolia, what with the blaring drunk stumbling across the household and his mother never seemed competent enough to realize just how horrible he was. His instinct was to protect Mag and his Mum in anyway possible. He took the beatings sibling and mother never new about, the drunken rages and accusatory yelling about bad blood. Eventually Jean left Dan in Lafayette and took her children to the calmer town of Broussard where the Moore family’s life calmed down significantly.
Significant Others (describe relationship): While on tour in the middle east he took leave in England and met a girl named Abigail Raines. She met him in a café whilst he was trying to find an Internet café, or somewhere that had video chat for him to contact Magnolia. Abby, who saw him from across the café, grinned and ordered him an espresso.

“Excuse me, Miss. I don’t mean to be rude,” He started, Cajun accent sneaking in as a blush crossed his features.
“Then don’t.” A cheeky grin as she handed him the small china cup.
Camille gave a small cough before attempting to continue. “Um. Why did you-”
“Because if I’m going to let you borrow my computer I might as well get to know you first.”
“Pardon?”
Abigail grinned, hand tugging on his until he sat. “I heard you talking to the Maitre d’ about nearby computers or something. You’d like a chat with your lil’ sister, right?”
“Er yes?”
“Come on over after this, my flat mate won’t mind. I’ve got skype and everything.” She grinned wider if possible, dimples pressing in at her cheeks. She was adorable.

The week was spent in friendly companionship as they got to know each other. Abigail’s friends had taken a quick liking to the half Cajun. The week soon drew to a close and Cam reported back for duty. It was only shortly after that when Cam was called with the rest of the G.I’s for combat. A mortar hit his vehicle in transit, badly injuring his leg in the crash. He managed to perform his duty as medic until the squad was able to retreat to safety.

Upon returning to the states, Cam was surprised to find one Abigail Raines waiting for him at the hospital. She visited frequently, only once accosted by Magnolia in a younger sister way of saying ‘don’t hurt him’, and in that one conversation the younger sister became completely enamored.

Abigail stayed with Camille until her visa ran out and while he was still rehabilitating use of his leg she went home to England. She called him from the cab to make sure he was doing all right without her, when a loud noise and the scream of tires filled the speaker as the cab driver was hit straight on. Abby was taken away with poor vitals by the ambulance and it was only after Cam frantically called the small group of friends he had met on leave that he found out she was in a coma. Three days later she died.

During the time after the crash, Cooper, a good friend to Abby, helped Cam deal with the mess of emotions and combined with his mother’s care and Magnolia’s determination he’s come to a détente with the entirety of the situation.

It’s because of Abigail’s passion for Japan that Cam will eventually head over to the country in an ‘in her honor’ sort of thing. That and Magnolia will be attending Medical School in Australia and wants to visit Japan during her breaks.

This is all going to be overhauled. Quick Timeline

-They met in a café in England during the End of Cam's first Tour.
-Started dating and a year later Cam deployed on his Second Tour
-During his Leave he proposed to Abigail in Austria.
-After going back to battle, a bomb shell landed on his platoon, severely injuring his leg.
-Abigail got a visa and visited with the rehabilitation.
-Once her Visa ran out she returned to her family only was killed in an automobile accident shortly after arriving.

[ Physical Characteristics ]
User ImageHeight: 159 cm (5’2”)
Weight: 59kg (130 lbs)
Race: Human/Cajun/American
Eye Color: A very dark hazel.
Hair Color: Deep brown, essentially black
Hair style: Military cut however he has since finished his commitment so it might be a bit longer. If so it will be difficult and stick straight up.
Glasses or contact lenses?: Nope, Cam has 20/20 vision.
Skin color: A warm olive with a sun kissed tan.
Distinguishing features: He has small scarring on his forehead from the crash but it’s not totally noticeable. The tail end of his right eyebrow is severed due to scar tissue not allowing the hair to grow. Most of the scarring damage is on his right side but given current technology the scars are sparse and light. He also has a Caduceus tattoo on his left deltoid.
How does he/she dress? Cam is quite simple in his dress where his clothing ranges from military uniform and scrubs to athletic wear and jeans. For casual he won’t go further than a track jacket over a graphic’s tee with a simple pair of jeans. His colors are muted and earthy flowing more into the greens and oranges than anything else. If there is one thing he cares about it is footwear so he will always be wearing versatile shoes for running, climbing and standing. Also it is essential that he always wears his dog-tags.
Mannerisms: His mannerisms are completely polite and humble, an odd occurrence in a Marine. But no matter what the activity he will always look like he is solid in what his job is, even if it is to sit and smile politely. Also Cam is more of the silently quirky type of person. Subtle things in his day-to-day life define him. He doesn’t like getting wet but he loves to swim, he is a morning person and has a strong love for coffee especially after a long run, and he likes his ice cubes to be hollow in the center. It would be tiny things like the way his hands are steady and gentle but need to be moving and he will never stand in doorways longer than needed. He also gets nervous under overhanging roofs. Other quirks include that he will always look someone in the eye while shaking their hand, his first response to a stranger would be to give a small smile and he respects most everyone until they get on his bad side. Also, I assume phobias would fall in this category; he has a fear of large crowds and, possibly the most off of all, a fear of falling up into the sky.
Habits: Cam always gets up at the butt-crack of dawn and will immediately make a beeline for his coffee maker, once the button is glowing and he’s sure it will brew he will then go for a lengthy run. Other habits include intense dental hygiene, singing in the shower, cooking exceedingly spicy Cajun food and cussing in French if women are around. If he is around a bunch of men he loosens up a lot because it reminds him of the corps.
Health: Strong as a horse, Cam is lean mean and almost overly athletic. However, he’s a bit short and stout yet maintaining his scrawny athletic form. There is also his bum leg but he chooses to ignore it when possible.
Hobbies: Cooking, reading medical journals, writing his sister, running, Frisbee (God he’s like a puppy and LOVES Frisbee), climbing, hiking, city lights and walks through rural land. Yes but granted he needs about 8 advil and ace bandages to endeavor in any of this.
Favorite Sayings: “Sempre Fi” for obvious reasons, “Cracher en l'air ca va tomber sur le nez!”, “Laisser les bons temps rouler” and “Marines never die! They just go to hell and regroup.”, “Heaven won't take us and Hell is afraid we'll take over” along with a few other Marine sayings. His most used would have to be, “Pardon?”.
Vernacular: Polite sweet and with a rather strong Cajun accent. He can speak both Cajun and Parisian French fluently. He has a very polite syntax that more often than not comes across as confused.
Disabilities: After the mortar attack he’s never really been able to fully heal his right leg. It is a bit stiff at times and the knee is all sorts of messed up. He cannot stand to long without it cramping up and because of this needs a special insole for his shoe. Over all his right leg is most definitely his Achilles heel. Given that it was nearly amputated it will always cause a problem for him.
Style (Elegant, shabby etc.): Casual for a military man and modest.

[ Intellectual/Mental/Personality Attributes and Attitudes ]

Educational Background: Finished College within the states through a Marine Corps Scholarship as a Nursing major, French minor.
How does the Character see himself/herself? He sees himself disfigured but strong. He likes to think that he is competent in his actions and nurturing enough to his patients and friends. However he is always nervous that the people he meets will dislike him for some unknown reason and is very cautious about boundaries and the metaphorical mine field of eggshells.
How does the Character believe he/she is perceived by others? He has a moral tenacity to believe that everyone in the world is uneasy with him on first sight because he’s an American, or because he’s a marine, a man, short, Cajun, has a weird accent and so forth. However, he perceives everyone else as a good guy until they prove differently. So in his innate tendency to be modest and polite he assumes that he at least comes off as a nice guy. He’ll keep his military background to himself unless asked, however it is easy to judge that he has some relation to an armed service given the way he holds himself and he knows this will shine through as well; Once a Marine always a Marine. He also hopes against all hope that he receives no pity for his injuries. Yes he has a handicapped ticket for his car but he doesn’t use it, yes he is a veteran but makes no use of it. However if someone were to show him compassion and pity for his leg or his service he will never be malicious about it. He will merely grin and say “thank you” in the sweetest of tones.
Does the character seem ruled by emotion or logic or some combination thereof? Cam can’t really say if he’s ruled by either. He’s moral center is governed by family, yes Magnolia and Jean come above all else, but he also has this by the book code that the Marines have given him. It may not seem like logic to others but to him it’s ground into his being that he will respond to a specific situation with a specific, very Marine, response. So I guess it would be logic. At least to him.
What would most embarrass this character? He’s not hard to embarrass as he blushes easy. He’s most uncomfortable with the fact that yes, he was used as a pawn in war and yes, he felt right doing it. Still does in fact. Or if someone latched onto the fact that he seems to be leaning more towards the men side of the spectrum opposed to women, especially after Abigail and Cooper became a large part of his life. Another strong embarrassment factor would be his accent, after this he will enhance the Cajun drawl and start speaking to you in French before laughing and patting you on the back. He likes everything to be in good fun.
Greatest flaw(s): He feels that he needs to be able to save everyone. He knows he’s not a doctor and quite frankly that’s a very tetchy spot with him but if someone dies on his watch it will be a long sulk. He is quite the hard griever and it takes more than a healthy share of alcohol and good friends to shake him out of it. He’ll hopefully get used to it.
Best quality(ies): He’s a nurturing person and is rather calm and level headed in most situations. He’s not a go-to-guy as a leader but he makes a good mother figure if someone wants a home cooked meal and a nice heating pad for muscle cramps. He’s a brilliant nurse and knows it. Because of this he uses his abilities to their full capacity.

[ Emotional Characteristics ]

Introvert or Extrovert? Definitely an extrovert and this is due to his upbringing and career with the Marines. He needs to be around other people even if he’s quietly observing or else he feels terribly alone. However, he doesn’t mind having his own space.
How does the character deal with anger? He’s rather level headed about it and is quite straightforward in a calm manner. If someone is bugging him he would probably look them in the eyes and say something along the lines of “This isn’t necessary”, however the practiced Marine tone that eases and settles the other party. He’s rather intimidating when he needs to be despite his shorter stature.
With sadness? He’s bad with this emotion. Cam is outright terrible with dealing with sadness. He’ll become exceedingly closed off and turn to the bottle (so much like his old ‘stepfather’ it frightens him. He’ll pour himself a good drink, lock himself away and read something complex like Freudian Theory in French to take his mind off of the situation. Normally it’s Magnolia who takes him out of the rut with a simple “What would Abigail want you to do?” and he’d then cook something delicious and give it away for the sake of giving.
With conflict? Conflict isn’t difficult given that he is a Marine. He’s very much content with ‘I’m going with this path and if it lands in a horrible place then tough luck’. However this is only in regards to himself, when other people also hang in the balance he puts their needs ahead of his and falls back onto military logic.
With change? Cam is very fluid and a bit of a minimalist. As long as he has a way to contact his family he is content. Change has little to no affect on him due to him being used to moving around a lot with the Corps.
With loss? See above for sadness. He tends to throw himself in a dangerous sulk and if left to his own devices he will eventually look out and see a small child playing with a ball and come to an understanding that he can always help the next one.
What does the character want out of life? He wants to help people, eventually become a doctor and a high ranked Nurse and be able to know that he can save people.
What would the character like to change in his/her life? He’d like to go back to school at some point and become something more than a Nurse. Something with more knowledge and expertise.
What motivates this character? Seeing the smile on Magnolia’s face and knowing that he has good friends. He also has a drive for providing good medical care.
What frightens this character? The main thing he is frightened is missing something, making a mistake and having a perfectly healthy patient with a good prognosis die on his watch. On top of this he is afraid of himself, what he’s been taught to do and the efficiency of it being a Marine. On top of this all he is terrified of wide open spaces as he feels he’ll someday just fall into the sky and no one will be there for Magnolia.
What makes this character happy? He loves making people happy and Magnolia get a stupid grin on her face. He cooks for others, he heals them, he tells jokes and stories just to make people happy and feel safe around him. He also likes knowing that he is competent enough to make these calls.
Is the character judgmental of others? He is a deep believer that his gut will tell him everything he needs to know concerning fight or flight. So yes and no. If he gets bad vibes then he’ll keep his distance but he won’t change course over the fact that the person leaning against the wall there probably has an unhealthy interest in his wallet. However, as said earlier he tends to think that everyone is fine until they prove differently.
Is the character generous or stingy? Rather generous considering he gave up the butt load of money his late father left the family in order for Magnolia to go to Medical school at some point.
Is the character generally polite or rude? Camille is always overly polite given how he was brought up and the military humble attitude thrust upon him.

-more to come-
Weapon (the item needs to have a form in the real world as well): A fully stocked medic bag, WWII in style and intuitively filled. While back in the 'real world' it looks like a normal up to date military medic bag.
Reason for Weapon: If you look at him and call him a Marine he’ll say ‘Yes but I don’t kill people. It’s too dug into his own moral center as a nurse and in his innate nature that he’s only there to heal not maim. However if the situation arises he’s moderately knowledgeable in hand to hand combat but will only do enough damage to teach them a lesson. More of a ‘That hurts doesn’t it. . . Now will you let me fix it?’ Please note that yeah, he's a marine but that doesn't have any impact on 'attacking' phasma, he knows enough to distract them so he can run away and hide (as much as it hurts his ego to do it). He's not completely helpless but his physical strength holds nothing against the phasma.
Psyche: Gryphon
Reason for Psyche: Originally I wanted to go with the Phoenix but thought that would be encroaching on Adda's territory and there was something about the phoenix that just didn't rhyme with Cam's rhythm. Then came the English Shepherd which still fits almost perfectly however again with the territory only this time the canine wandered too close to Dante. So after much deliberation I landed with the Griffin (or Gryphon) who has a fierce sense of loyalty, fairness and justice that rings a similar chime with Camille. The innate sense to protect and guard syncs with his personality to a tea, fierce but gentle, calm and protective. Add one bumb leg and you have an ex-marine medic with a bit of a grump.
Powers [tentative]: Injury Empathy [until I think of a better name]: through touch Cam will be able to take medical maladies away from people. However, given that you cannot create nor destroy any energy, this includes destructive and healing components, the injury will not simple dissipate but will reappear on Camille himself, mirroring the patient before. This only happens through touch yet, this means that a simple brush with someone and he will gain all or a large portion of their injuries himself. Totally aids in his martyrdom. As he grows more aware he will be able to only take portions of an injury to even out the pain.

[Critique Compilation] - Gets no banner XD

I will post/quote all Critiques, comments and such here so that it is easier for me to check what I need to edit, what I should be editing and what I have edited-ededed

Shiri-Matakami
From the main thread: "I keep forgetting to make a note in your quest thread, but I love the idea of a character not having an offensive weapon for something like this. Because that forces the character into situations where they have to be protected/protect or be with someone else so they can both get through it alive.

It is a situation where characters are forced to interact in a way that is beneficial to everyone.

Especially since the way Cam heals people is with taking the injury himself. This is really neat to think about, because if there is a deadly wound he could just take some of it so both of them can get out alive potentially. That is just an awesome thought for me in this shop where death and injury isn't all that hard to run into.

*loves medics hardcore like*

Also not being able to protect yourself in a place where things are trying to destroy you would also be fun to explore from a character point of view."

I really like Cam. I really really do. Not just his grumblyness but about his sister and his parents. That he really shouldn't be doing things with his leg but he can't just sit around and do nothing.

AND THE RUBBER GLOVE TOUCHING!!! ACK ACK ACK

*fangirls in a corner*

The only thing I really wanted to crit on was the whole 'he is a marine so he can take care of himself' when up against a mirror world guy, but you already got that taken care of.

Knowing just enough so you can run away. <3<3<3 I shall post more when it comes to me.

Okay... Livie review is here... (even though a bit late because of work)
but before the review, I must give the overall concept an A++. I am seriously more than impressed. >u<
I like Camille, his personality, psyche AND psyche change to gryphon, as well as his power. I also love the fact that we FINALLY have an adult in the crew~

All that remains is to ask a few questions to clear a thing or two out (and out of pure curiosity as well)

-about injury empathy, would Camille be able to reverse the process at some point and 'transmit' an amount of injuries he has sustained to another person, henceforth acting like an offensive ability?

>>
*o* ! Thank you, Livie >w< I'm glad you like him <3

@ His injury empathy: honestly I've thought about it and I find it an entirely intriguing idea. I wouldn't put it past him that he holds the potential to transmit his injuries but I honestly can't see him doing it. As to whether or not he'd have that would be a big question mark, however I can state with assurance that it would never be used. His innate moral center is to provide care and not hurt so whether it's conscious or subconscious I don't think he'll be transmitting pain with him as the transformer to their XLRs (pardon me for the sound joke >>; <3 ).

*note*: It should be said that due to scientific er...compatibility, he'd only be able to take the ailment from fellow humans. Chromosomes, cell type and enzymes will come into play. If I feel super motivated I might just bend science to explain how it would work! :OO

Cam: Note... technically I'm not a Marine Medic.... I'm really in the navy. However I serve as 'medical personnel' in the Marines, trained with the marines and now am kind of bridging the branches because the Marines love my rank and love what I do.... you trackin'?
