Okay, I currently have a fresh 80 Hunter.
I leveled and still play, with a tank.

We do not, under any circumstances, raid without eachother.
We're kind've like a support system for the other.
So, that being said, we're not always on at the same time.
When we do raid, stuff doesn't usually drop for me, however, when it does, somebody always steals my crap, then leaves.

I'm pretty steamed that I can't seem to get any better at this game because I'm practically being DENIED gear.

I asked my GM the other day, "hey, are we going to get invited to Naxx again soon?"

(I haven't ran it in weeks.)
"Possibly."
"Why possibly?"
"Because I ALREADY have a million and a half tanks."

Now that is just lame. I hate being a guild hopper and all, but seriously, you can't even come up with a sufficient raiding rotation?
Bah. So yeah.. we're never invited to anything. I really hate how this all is, and don't tell me to quit the QQ. Because at least I'm doing it here, and not in raids. n_n

So.. halp.

He wants to switch to DPS, but he needs gear. How on earth do you get geared for a totally different spec if you can't even get a guild invite?
How am I going to get geared?

(Edit: we used to rely on calender schedules to know when to hustle online. razz Pugs are random, and harder for us to run because of schedules.)

Baaaw. Your guild sounds like it's full of douches. You could always try to find a willing healer to go with you guys and run some Heroics. Since the new badge system is (possibly) coming out, it should make Heroics a little bit more enjoyable and easier to get geared.

It's quite funny, I've never seen a guild full on tanks. ):

No offense, but red flag. We have two people in our guild like that and it's super irritating when the female decides to disconnect the males internet because she isn't raiding, or something equally stupid. (extended afks, etc)

Not saying you are like that or that you are even in a male/female relationship with this person. Or that your guild does enough stuff to care.

You have to realize that raiding rotations are not possible. There are established guild members. These are the ones that have been here first, as childish as that sounds. Imagine this for a moment.

GM: "Hey, can you sit for the entire Naxx run this week? We need to gear ."
Gettingsatperson: "Why? I've been here longer and never had to sit before."
GM: "Uh, because they asked me if they could come this week."
person: " burning_eyes "

Let's put my guild into example. We are currently recruiting DPS classes, and maybe a tank. Even though we can fill raids and raid efficiently, not everyone can come to every single raid. We'll probably recruit a tank with an offspec DPS more than a tank with just tank gear who "omfg really loves tanking like so much i wanna marry it."

Why? Because most of the time, fights require maybe 3 tanks maximum. Some fights will require one. Some two. ALL of our tanks are extremely dedicated players. One has a job conflict, but can make 50% of the raids. So that one tank recruit will need to be a DPS class 50% of the time.

It wouldn't matter if Kungen's US server alt tank applied to us (even though i'm sure kungen has offspec gear) we still would either have to sit that guy 50% of the time and frustrate him or carry a tank with terrible dps gear so they can roll on an item that might drop.

Anyway, rambling.

If your friend is going to be an efficient tank they need to work on their gear. They need to make themself look exceptional to the guild, OR, exceptional enough to get pugs. It should not be difficult to find groups as a tank. I pugged every single heroic today on my paladin as a tank except for one instance that I healed. (sans occulus, ******** that place) My paladin's gear for tanking is also pretty bad, http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ner'zhul&n=Teradactyl I'm logged in it right now. If you're in the market for raids I can almost guarantee your gear is equal to or better than mine, considering I had mitigation issues in Utgarde Pinnacle. NO, I don't mean the gear itself as I'm getting my offspec gear via raiding. I mean stats.

TL;DR:

PUG RAIDS
DO HEROICS

Ahh, I know what you're saying.
I would raid without him, but eh.. I simply get castrated if I go without. >.o

Also, for 10 - 25 mans, we arent even full on that. We have enough of everything, so and extra DPS/Tank pair would make it full. But no, they'd rather invite other people NOT in our guild. It's just a bit of a hostile environment, y'know? And very irritating. We're pugging a lot more than we used to, but even so, it's hard to do that since our schedules are so hectic. Which is why I'm irritated at the guild.

Even though my gear is NOT up to par, my dps doesn't struggle as bad as other hunters.
We bascially joined the guild to do fun crap, not so we could be replaced for non guildies. Nobody gets sat if we go; they're just being asshats.

@Checkers: I used to have a ton of healers. It's like they're falling off the face of the earth. ._.; I'll look around some more.

And yeah, the guild is pretty stocked on tanks. Though the main tank is GL's boyfriend, of course.

Anyway.. new badge system? Did I miss something pleasant?

I used to run with a guild in BC who wouldn't break up raiding couples for better 10 man makeups. The result was I got ******** exalted with the Violet Eye before we killed Curator. It doesn't work.

My SO stopped raiding after BC, but I wanted to continue raiding. Now I'm in a better position to help him on his alts because I'm rolling with much better gear. If you want to raid and be taken seriously you can't be a package deal all the time.

That said, I guess in your case it comes down to the fact that they're just not willing to work with you guys, then you should move on. If they'd rather bring pugs than guild their own guildmates then its time to get going.

If they don't want you to raid with them, leave. Simple as that. If they would rather bring in pugs than you, leave. Don't feel a sense of "I need to stay with these people" towards people who don't care to bring you along, and who would rather bring in pugs than you. Unless, of course, youre in full greens, in which case I can somewhat understand them not bringing you.

If you want to change servers, medivh is VERY light on tanks atm.

Well, two negatives about this~

Sadly, most people seem more concerned with gear now than ever. It's very easy to get geared up, but this could just be my opinion. My server right now pugs 3 drake Sartharion 10 man zerg runs, full clear Uld 10s and half clear 25 Ulduars.

It doesn't matter if you outdps the world.. if your gear is "bad", you will have a hard time getting raid invites.

Secondly, I'd get out right now. Female guild leaders are the worst, especially when they have a boy tagging along with them. I don't think I've seen a sane woman in a position of power in a guild full of guys once. (BESIDES ME, HAR HAR)

If you're not having fun, I guarantee you'd be having more fun unguilded than in this guild.

Yeah.. I talked if over with my friend, and we've decided to /gquit.

We'll probably live off of pugs for a good while, because we're still looking for that perfect guild.. like an apartment.

I take strong offense at this. My guild may have just started raiding, but I don't think I'm insane... and my boyfriend may play WoW, but he doesn't even have his main in our guild... he doesn't raid with us, is just our enchant/alchemy/engineer/GO FARM HERBS slave when he isn't in Ulduar on his main. A female guild leader doesn't mean insanity. I'm not even the one who forces him to farm herbs for us...

Don't wait for a guild to pick you up. You want gear, organize a raid. I've organized many many naxx 25s myself and as long as you make sure that the main roles are geared (tanks and healers and most of the dps) and/or know what they're doing (aka achievement linking) then you can make any successful pug run of a raid. If you're leading it, make sure YOU know the fights yourself and what to tell others if they're a bit rusty or don't know the fights at all. Naxx is VERY easy, not hard to pug at all. Take control man.

Sorry, but from all of my experiences women are terrible at leading guilds. There's always an exception, however, and I don't know you well nor have I ever played with you. :3

what everyone else said!

and if you insist on always being together on raids, you needddd to make sure you do some heroics and get him some DPS gear for dual speccing, cause its not fair to say "they didnt take us even tho there was space in the raid!!" if it means they have to waste a slot taking an extra tank they dont need.

That being said though, it's also unfair for them not to properly rotate, and to always expect -your- tank to be the one to go dual spec DPS. Almost every warrior I know has a DPS set (if only just for PVP) and can dps in a raid if needed. A properly organized guild would have asked one of the other "million" tanks you spoke of earlier to go DPS spec so that yours could tank a raid and both of you could come. There should have been a level of compromise, especially within a Guild.

Yeah your guild was just full of douches. Leaving was the right course of action :p

Find a nice old guild that fits your schedule, runs with a good epgp or eqdkp method of distributing gear, and show up a lot. pretty soon, you'll be getting whatever gear you want cause you earned it. loot council = fail because they will ALWAYS gear themselves and friends first. PuGs generally = fail because there's no guarantee how far you'll go and Murphy's Law will insure that you dont get anything you want anyway.
