ok guys, here's what's happening
amongst other things, my mom and i are have some issues financially, so i'm taking a hiatus from all "graphics heavy" sites to try and make our bandwidth go further. that includes gaia in my mom's view. i'll be lurking on my mobile from time to time but it's unlikely that i'll be able to get on the pc for more than about 15 minutes a week.
