The metal grate allows the stench of rot and corruption through making the stink of the under ground worse if that is possible. Once through that metal portal you see a room form some human's nightmare, of Hell or for us home.
I'm Mexxes and this is our place. It is restful here for there are no living humans, except for those who chose to deal with the dead instead of the living.
