What is your name? (you can just post your username if your not comfortable with posting your real name!) what is your skill level/ how long have you been into photography? why did you join the guild?

OH SNAP! ( no pun intended ) I am the first!? YAAAY!
Well My real name is April, I have been into photography apparently since I was 7. Stories go that I loved taking pictures and have my picture taken so much that even after all the film was done, they had to lie to me and tell me that there was still film in it and let me go around taking 'blanks' anyways. lol redface stupid child hood stories.
I got further into photography back in high school, loved that part when I took Graphic Design but pretty well just bought books and studied on my own by taking photo's. I really really really want a really nice digital Camera! One that I can add different lenses to and do different things with! I wouldn't know my skill level sweatdrop
I joined because I love Photography! cheese_whine

(I named that to, so im not steeling the name! lol) You should look at BandHphoto.com! their stuff is really nice, and they ship in about a week. I bought my Canon EOS Rebel there, and its a great place to buy from (plus its REALLY competitive pricing!)

I'm xen0. I don't like using my real name on Gaia, so just call me xen0 or xen.
I'm actually studying graphic design at my university, but I am a hobbyist in photography, and I do love photography.
I guess I started actual photography when I was 15 (my sophomore year of high school) when I started using our Sony Cybershot (before they were slim). Then I upgraded to a Sony Cybershot WSC-90 (better quality, but still a point and shoot). Then in January 2009, I got my Canon Rebel XSi. I'm 21 now, so I've been into photography for 6 years now. Self-taught, so I climbed that learning ladder pretty damn slowly.
I joined this guild for the "why not?" reason. I love talking photography with others and getting to pick other peoples' brains for advice, tips & tricks, etc.

Hello! My name is Brittany, but most call me Tany. I just really started taking an interest in photography a few months ago, What really inspired me was Tim walkers photography. I have a Nikon Coolpix 880 (kinda old school, i know) and I have a canon point and shoot. I sometimes even use my cellphone camera to do m photography.
Why did I join? Well, I love photography and decided, well why not. I though that maybe I could pick up some tips and pointers from some people on here.

My names Thomas, I'm a semi-professional photographer. I'm planning on starting my own photography business soon, but as of right now I'm just shooting portraits. I'm a family friendly photographer in Auburn, Washington. I shoot family portraits, senior portraits, I do weddings, events... honestly, pretty much anything and everything.
I'm also looking to start shooting for local newspapers and see how that goes.
I have a canon rebel XT with the standard 18 - 55mm kit lens, a 75 - 300 and a 50 1.8.
On August 7th I'll be getting a 5dmk2, an 85 1.2, 50 1.2, and a 70 - 200 2.8 lens. (BOY TALK ABOUT EXPENSIVE)
I also use a sunbounce micromini for a reflector and a velbon 530 tripod.

Sure I can teach some stuff. I'm not sure where to start, I guess I'll just make a thread and go over some basics first.

Hi! My name is Dawn! I've had an interest in photography for 2 or 3 years now. I haven't really achieved much, for now it's just a hobby. I have a Kodak Easy Share C530! I got it for free... If I could afford a decent camera I would have one! I find the most interesting thing about photography is developing, so I prefer film over digital.

Hi! My name is Alice. I've been interested in photography for just a short while, perhaps a year. About a month ago, I got my baby for my birthday. It's a Nikon Coolpix P90 that is taken care of better than a real baby, haha. I'm interested in trying darkrooms and using film, but right now I don't have the resources to do so, so hopefully I'll have the oppurtunity this year, as I'm taking Photo Digital and joining the Photography club. I'm planning on becoming an architect, as I have a love for math and art. For now, Photography is just a hobby, but I look forward to advancing my skill in it. smile Nice to meet everyone!

hey there. my name is kira.
i've been taking photos for about 3 years now. i have always been an artist, but i never thought i would have an interest in photography. however, when i was introduced to it (in a digital photo class i took freshman year.) i found that that it was what i was supposed to be doing with my life. i use a nikonD80 for the majority of my work, although i do have quite a few lomo cameras that i use from time to time. i dont have any skill in developing my own film and the like, but hopefully that will change this coming school year (finally getting myself into a darkroom class.) i joined this guild kinda just because and becuase i'd like to share my interest with other photographers.
