UPDATE: Ok! I started to colour this thang and so far so good... Except I really haven't figured out how to do her face. The body is turning out so realistically, I am having a hard time figuring out how I'll get my usual anime-style face on that body! But here's what I have so far... smile I tried to go with bolder colours than usual and am working on a more painterly style with my colouring... ------ original post: I posted this over at the general art forum without much response, so I thought I'd join the guilt to give-comments-and-get-comments! I can tell that there is something funny about this anatomy. Each of the parts looks good on its own, but as a whole she seems disproportionate. Help? No clothes on this girl yet, but she isn't detailed in the nudity department -- she's just lineart smile base pic

-: You did a very good on it and I'm curious what you're going to do with it next.
Let's start with the head. Ears are not aligned which suggests that she's leaning her head towards one way. In case, you won't going for that, I, also, made look head on.
Her hands are a little off to me. One looks like she doesn't have a palm. However, I'm terrible at hands as well. Anyway, one way I found to help me is using boxes. Use one box for the palm and a curvy point for the fingers. The point is where the longest finger would be, which isn't not in the middle of the hand. Looking at your hand, the middle line almost against the side the finger.
The only I would suggest for the foot, that's sideways, is to make it a little longer.
For the body, I had no idea. Instead I'll let may plaster show you. Ok, so my plaster looks like she was working out before they gave her to me but still useful.

All of these are just suggestions and you don't have agree with them. If I didn't explain something or just have a question, please let me know. Also, welcome to the guild! I hope you have fun while you're here! ^^ :-

Thanks for the response! I appreciate your help. Yes, the hands are really terrible, so your guidance helps. It also made me realize that one arm is longer than the other (!) so that's something else to fix.
Your plaster is pretty ripped. wink She helped me figure out the shoulders, though. I'll post an updated version soon!

Err... and yes, I know the hands are still really jacked up... but I think this new pose fixed the issues I was having with the arms! biggrin Looks much more natural, too.

-: Ack! This place gets too quiet too quickly, huh?
Anyway, the colors are looking wonderful so far. I'm not sure if you were looking the lightening situation on her face or not.

Please, forgive the weak light source and blurry results. I tried to take the picture one handed. :-

Shoroie you are so thoughtful!! heart heart heart
Seriously, you're the sweetest. I'm actually doing some face studies right now because I wanted this girl to look be in an anime-realism style. I don't usually draw anime-style OR photo-realistically (I guess my style is sorta comic-book-y) so right now I'm looking for artists to imitate. We all have to start somewhere, right?
But these pics will help so much with the lighting! AAHH! You're the BEST!!

-: Thank you, peppermint! You put a smile on my face. c:
Anyway, I think the reason you're unsure about the neck maybe it needs a little more colors?
The shine on the hair is the reflection off of strands of hair so add some shadows by the shine to show other strands by them.
Now, for the colors (which I have bad experience). For the turquoise colors, try adding some dark blue. For shadows, you can use a different colors and try blending, together. Also, colors reflect off of, particularly everything. So, I paint reflected colors on the skin, jewel and necklace. Picture
Wait a minute. There's a turtle! I, seriously, didn't see it until I started typing. Anyway, I hoped you found something useful in what I said. ^^ :-
(Also, experimentation is perfect for an artist!)

Almost done!! I sort of wanted her to be holding something in the right hand... A turtle? A crystal ball? I dunno, she isn't really turning out how I anticipated...

-: Her skirt reminds me of those fancy designer clothes. Heheh.
Anyway, the picture coming along great. Background is a little light for me but that could be my screen. I have a question, though. What is the shadow on her knee (far from the viewer)?
For an object, the only thing coming out of my head is a crab.
Why do you feel that way? Maybe I can help. :-
