While playing GTA IV I often hear clans accusing one another of cheating with a turbo controller. I for one have no problem with people using the controllers, as long as its not during tournaments. I was thinking about getting one, to mess around with from time to time, but Ive read bad feedback from the site I was thinking to buy from. I want to know what you guys think about the controllers. Do you think its cheating if you use one? Could you clarify what the controllers actually do. Is it only for rapid fire? Ive heard it can auto aim on objects when the auto aim is on disallow. Is that true?

Cheating is cheating regardless of when and how you do it. It only diminishes the gaming experience and is what makes some gamers never pick up an online game again. Don't cheat. It only makes you and us look bad.

In my opinion, cheating is only wrong if it is carried out in a hostile manner. Of course im just referring to gaming. When I play online with friends we occasionally use glitches, not to massacre, but to hide from one another (in GTA). We like to run around the city and basically play tag. When we challenge other players we only use pure skill. UNLESS the person were after, or someone player, goes into a glitch and we have to draw them out. Then thats the only time we uses glitches against someone else.

Jeez, I was talking about controllers and moved to game glitches. I guess the above applies to the controller as well. Its not wrong if youre not using it in an ill manner.

Once you start cheating, you just can't stop. If you really have to cheat just to have fun, then you are no better than someone who has to teamkill just to have fun. They're both hated, and nobody wants to play with them. Whether online or off, its best to leave cheating to those with low moral standards.

A turbo allows you to push a lot of buttons at a time. OK, put simply with the turbo on you can push buttons on your controller in normal speed but in extremely fast speed on the game. The game just reads it faster. Its your own little time cheater...I guess. At least that is what it does on PS2. Xbox and PS3 may and probably are different so ya...

You have a very brutal definition for the term cheating.

I get that using the controller is considered cheating, but whether or not its frowned upon depends on how you go about using it.

Just do what I do, learn to hit buttons as fast as a turbo controller.

I don't consider them cheating, as it's not a cheat, it's a controller. Anyone can buy one and use it.

Though I wouldn't use them in competative multiplayer, only in a friendly match or in single player, no tournaments.

I've seen them go from upwards of £50

I'll use CoD4 as an example:

There are a few semi-automatic weapons in the game such as the G3. They will only fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. So there are people that will buy a turbo controller and program it to basically fire the weapon so fast, that it seems to be fully automatic. This is a problem that many people do not want to see in any other games.

Turbo controllers are still a medium of cheating, but if you must, only use it in offline single-player or co-op games. Never use it online as some games are including probability programs into their games. If what you are doing is not possible or probable, the program will kick you. Repeated offenses will result in your account and/or console being banned.

As in tapping the trigging instead of holding it down? Thats how I fire now, Id still like to have the turbo function though.

Yeah. Many of them have learned from the mistakes of ther games and have included the technology in their games. Also, it could disable trophies/achievements in the games that have it. Its just safer to not use a turbo controller.
