My school didn't offer it either, but the local college (Yale) started offering language courses for high school students taught by grad students. So I took Japanese. I had friends who took Polish, Arabic, German...There were about 50 languages you could choose from!

o.O Latin? That would be an interesting class... That's not offered here.. Though Japanese isn't either. The closest thing there is here is Chinese.. @mugoi_usagi: Sorry this is random, but cute avatar...

That's really cool that you guys can take German. My high school only offered French and Spanish. They offered Latin while my brother was there but his Junior year they got rid of it. (my high school was all kinds of full of fail)

That's cool. I can't wait until for 2 more months. Then I'll finally be in high school! Then if I'm lucky, I'll be able to take japanese there!

I want to learn Japanese, too. My school only offers French and Spanish, in fact we don't even have two different teachers! crying ... (our one teacher is trilingual)
So I guess we will all be learning Japanese together, seated by our computer.

Japanese is such an awesome language! Just be ready to stick it though and put a lot of work and study time into it, if you want to be fluent.
I took it for 3 years of highschool, it got pretty intense. BUT, it was SO worth it. Awesomeness :3
