So. I woke up early this morning & it was a nice day, so I decided to go jogging. I liked jogging and haven't gone jogging for a while due to schoolwork, so I ran slowly for a good half hour... bad decision since my period visited last night.

I got severe cramps while running and even more during my first class that I had to go home afterwards... and the cramps persisted for another 3-4 hours after I got home. x___x;;;

And I thought I saw somewhere that exercising during periods may help to relieve cramps. >.< It's an old wife's tale that exercise is forbidden during periods, but is that true?

Is it right to exercise around one's period? And do you?

I've found that activity helps around that time of the month. Ironically, swimming is one of the best remedies to cramps.

I can't tell you why your body acted up as badly as it did, but I exercise whenever I can, period or not. The only problem is getting up the motivation. I am pretty listless sometimes when Aunt Flow comes to town.

My cramps get much worse around that time if I exercise, my mom's get better if she exercises.

I think its very subjective. So much in medicine regarding women's bodies professionals give a 'always is X and never is Y' tilt to their responses, so if I go to my doctor and say "My cramps are really bad" and they go "exercise" I respond with "yes but they get worse" and get treated like a whining baby. It happens all over medicine.

mine is infinitely better if i exercise,
even light stuff.
Stretching my pelvic area helps,
as well as light running, and horseback riding.

I generally only exercise for about 30 minutes at a time while it's happening though haha.

DDD: ...I wish that exercising helps me.
I'll probably stick to no exercise around it for now.

As much as I feel like I don't have energy, I try to work out during that time of month anyways. It usually relieves my pain, and I treat myself to a nice hot shower and cup of tea when I'm done. If the endorphins from running don't help me feel better, those usually do. n_n
