The tank i have says its 2 gallons, but when you fill it up its more like 1.5gallons. Which is a decent amount of space for a Betta. I have the tank already cycled and I plan on getting one or two apple snails :3 and maybe ghost shrimp.
I think I'm going to get a female Betta, I have owned many male bettas so i figured a female would be a good change! :3

Sounds like a nice plan. The females are so over looked in favor of males. Good choice. I have a female in my snail tank.

when i had females i adored them to death. they were much more fun than my males and learned tricks faster. i dont know if thats all females, but the few ive owned seemed more willing to learn than my males

Im setting up a 5.5 for females, and a 2.5 for a blue and yellow male.
So far, i plan on putting a small piece of mopani wood in each, and i definatly am putting live plants in the 5.5. Ill be putting a mystery snail and ghost shrimp in the 5.5

How many females in a 5.5? That's not really big enough to house more than one. You could get away with a 10g for 4, but that's stretching it. They need room to set up territories. The recommended set up for a group of 4 female bettas is a 20g long. You shouldn't get any less than 4 because they need to set up a hierarchy and with only 3 the weakest will get picked on, with only two they'll fight all the time.

ive had 2 and it worked, but it was just luck, i could only get it to work that one time. suprisingly they were both already adults when i put them together and it was a 2gal. i dont recomend trying it though

Horror Inc. I did it before with 4 and it worked perfectly, this time im goin for 5. They are all pretty tiny.

I wouldn't really put more then 3 females in a 5.5 gallon.
And you'll probably need to figure out a way to control the agression.
I must admid that I've only once kept a female betta, in a 10 gallon, but she was quite a nippy thing. She managed to kill a lot of fish sad

Horror Inc. Fish dont grow to the size of their container, water quality is what stunts them and im stict on water changes. I will be upgrading them to my 30 gallon when they get bigger. Ive been keeping fish for a long time and i know what i can and cant get away with.

Ive been keeping fish for a long time and i know what i can and cant get away with. Actually the "container" does stunt their growth. Each fish REQUIRES a certain amount of space. You wouldnt shove as many as you could fit in the tank where you could not even see the decor or water would you? If you want an example of stunting growth look at plecos. One in a 5 gallon wouldn't grow as big as one in a 80 gallon. It's obvious. As said earlier it may work for a while, but your soon to be fish will fight for space and not be very happy. How long is a "long time" that you've had fish?

I din't know you could put bettas and ghost shrimp together It depends on the betta. Some bettas will try to eat them, some will compleatly ignore them. The best way to try to keep them together is by providing a lot of shelter, and adding the ghost shrimp first.
