What IS this?
It's a contest [no s**t]! The goal is to complete your National Pokedex in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.
National Dex?
In D/P/PT you get 2 Pokedex. First you get a Regional Dex - that's a Pokedex of the 150 (or so) Pokemon found in your region - in this case, Sinnoh. After you've seen all the Pokemon in your Regional Dex and beaten the Elite Four, you are given the National Dex. This is a Pokedex of all the Pokemon in all the games. So a lot. And then you GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL! [pls dont hit me]
Won't it take FOREVER to catch all those Pokemon?
YES! The point of this contest is to encourage SGers to play Pokemon together and have it be competitive. There will be a lot of fun mini contests to keep your interest, but this will take awhile to do.
This contest is where you complete your national dex. It is not about winning, it is about playing pokemon way too much with SGers.
Wait - I don't HAVE Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, but I do have another generation of game! or, I'm REALLY far through my game and I don't WANT to start over!
If this is going well, about a month after it's start I'm planning on starting a contest [run a little differently] for Red/Blue.
And if you're too far through the game to restart, you can sign up to play with all your current game information that you are obligated to keep updated and then you're able to join in as soon as the first person has caught the same number of Pokemon as you have. This is discouraged a little bit though, if you can restart your game, I highly encourage you to. The sign up to play later ability is for people like Kichi who have like 296 Pokemon caught. XD
So what do we get if we win?
I DONT KNOW. I have to decide. I have to look at what things cost and all that s**t. But it will be IRL prizes. Like pokemon merch. This means I need your address to send stuff.
But what if I can't give out my address or you're a ***** can play for fun, and I can see if I can send you some kind of non irl-y prize. And I'm not a *****. Ask for proof if you want. :D
OMG so you're going to buy me a new DS if I win right?
Oh god no. These prizes won't be like vending machine s**t, but it won't be anything that means you're just playing for the prize. You're playing to have FUN, the prize is just an incentive.
What happens if I finish my national dex but someone has finished it first?
Everyone who completes their national dex will get an irl pokemon merch prize.

You can also ask Kichi [ei-kichi st alth] anything you want to know and he'll probably be able to answer. He's something of a Pokemon guru and EVERYTHING I'm putting in this thread has gone through him first. So he knows what's going on better than I do, basically. If you have a Pokemon related question, I'm sure many people will be able to answer you if you post it here. :3

You sign up! But not now. There are still a LOT of unfinished parts of this thread and a lot of things to hammer out. I'm trying to get sign ups open by June 1st. Until then, complain lots.

BASICALLY. Everyone enters to start a new Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum game at the same time. The first person to own ALL 493 POKEMON (can you own the platinum only ones in diamond/pearl? w/e. changing it to) COMPLETE YOUR NATIONAL DEX [wooooo]

Something IRL AND POKEMON RELATED. GIVE ME AWHILE TO COME UP WITH A GOOD PRIZE. So plushie or games or offshoot games or epic amounts of cards or something. BUT IT WILL BE IRL AND I WILL SEND IT TO YOU.
You can trade off of wireless, you can use your own games, whatever. One rule - no hacks or cheats to CATCH POKEMON. You cannot use ANY hacks or cheats to CATCH POKEMON. I'm leaving it at that. You can hack or cheat in your game any other way, and I'm SURE you're already looking for or have found loopholes to that.
But since I'm giving out prizes, if I think you cut the loophole too close, I can totally veto. I'm not a b***h, I'm not going to be like WHAT, YOU FORWARDED YOUR GAME TO THE NIGHT SO YOU COULD EVOLVE YOUR EEVEE TO UMBREON? DISQUALIFIED. But if it's something you couldn't have gotten without cheating, or cheating cut out a significant amount of work in catching it, then that's not cool.
I lied @ one rule. There are a lot of rules, actually. But cheating or hacking are the only ones which will disqualify you.
Any pokemon which is accessable in your game (Diamond/pearl/platinum) you must catch or evolve to get in your game. You can trade for any pokemon which is available only by trading (meaning you can either trade your kadabra and have them evolve it and send it back, or you can just trade whatever pokemon for someone's alakazam), and you can trade for any Pokemon which is not available in your game (obviously), but you cannot trade for a pokemon which you are able to catch.
this thread is really messy right now and not officially open and running and there are a lot of things I want to hammer out. don't be surprised if rules change and the thread changes lots.

So there's a lot I left out and a lot I need help with so if Kichi doesn't think this idea is s**t I'll ask for his help and anyone else who knows lots about the technical aspects of pokemon and stuff should talk to me if they want to help and all that jazz.
