How many of your have a Japanese club or a Anime Club at your educational facility?

Middle School Mrs. Tanahashi had a Japanese club that met every Thursday and we learned Japanese and watched Anime, cooked and other funny things.

High School I made a unoffical Japanese, Anime club that met Fridays after school at a friends house.

For college We didn't have one at USM until my friend Heather and I made one. And now it is even Board of Student Organization recognized! We go over anime and cultural aspects of Japan through watching Anime. In short if ROCKS! whee

Do you guys have anything like that? 3nodding

My school has an anime club and they're way more active than the one I was in during undergrad. Unfortunately they meet Monday nights while I'm in class. They start when my class starts and ends when my class ends. It's super sad.

Yeah. Hopefully I'll be able to go next fall but that all depends on when those classes are. Should find out soon though. Gotta register still.

No... I'm not even sure what clubs my high school has even... No one listens to the announcements. xD They all seem like educational ones anyways. There is a Korean club I know though.

In high school I was in an Anime club for all 4 years. The first two were ran by the upperclassman, but during my Junior and Senior year they handed it over to me, which was such an honor and a highlight of my last two years. 3nodding From there I handed it down to the youngsters and it made improvements from what I heard. It's now co-ed with the surrounding schools (we're an all girl Catholic high school). However, now even the freshmen, at the time I was a senior, have graduated and it's in the hands of kids I don't know. So hopefully it's going well.

My college supposedly has 2 anime clubs. An official one, and an unofficial one. The official one is low key and supposedly meets somewhere on campus, but I've rarely seen flyers of them. The unofficial one apparently doesn't like the way the official one operates, so they kind of ran off and made their own thing. sweatdrop Yeah. I've met people from both and am not interested in either. The people are kind of...snobby in a way...I guess it's the whole rivalry thing. O_o; So I'll just find stuff on my own...plus I odn't really have the time.

Im never too sure about clubs. Dont get me wrong geeking up and grouping together is fine. But the moment it becomes a club there becomes rules and opinions to conflict. A lot of effort in my view =_=

You know what its like, geeks are cool. But you always find one that 'knows it better' or has to top trump your likes and dislikes ¬_¬. I guess that comes with being a geek but like I said, its a lot of effort.

surprised Define J-Geek!
...and J-Nerd.
Because I've never heard either term, and a GEEK is certainly different from a NERD. Lol

Oh well um...
Ok in basic terms aka google search

Geek: a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly obsessed.

Nerd: an intelligent but single-minded expert in a particular technical field or profession

Naturally A geek would always be the obsessed otaku but the nerd is the one that does the research in a field. For instance knowing all about battle strategy, is in cadets to some form, playes rainbow six armoured core etc and as a result hold better ground and appreciation for anime like Full metal panic and evangelion. A similar obseesion but one that is constructed and educated.

Im not very good with my words, well explaining myself anyway. But essentially I wouldn't attach the term nerd to an otaku.

And of course, when you say ''otaku'' you mean the western meaning and not the eastern meaning. It makes sense to me..
