I was just wondering how everyone handled their interests. Do your friends know about it? Do you try to play it down so it seems that you're less psycho for it than you actually are? Well, that's no fun. Lol. Right now, I'm talking about Yaoi, but feel free to talk about any obsession that you have at all.

I'm lucky because most of my peers share the same obsession that I do.
My girlfriend likes shounen-ai too. One of my best friends, Izumi, also enjoys it. (Last time I checked anyhow.) My room mate on the other hand... I have a tendency to hide it from just a little bit. xD I think she finds it a little bit weird so I don't want to make her uncomfortable.

AT least two of my friends like anime, but I can guarantee you they're not half as obsessed as I am...
My other friends don't like it, but they're not as biased... they think it's normal now to see people have anime keychains and sweatshirts as casual attire. xD

 Most of my....okay ALL of my friends are into Japanese culture (in it's various forms) so I never had to deal with them thinking it was weird. We all just seemed to flock together.

With my boyfriend it depends on what it is escally. Super Sentai and Power Rangers he'd either introduced me or re-introduced me and we can talk about them just about anytime.
Cutie Honey, which OT for a second do we have a thread about that? Anywho, about Cutie Honey, we talk a lot about it now because we are watching Cutie Honey: The Live.
The same goes for Garo, and the qusetion does too. It's something we been getting into.
As for yaoi in general, he and a few of my other friends, well I get picked on a lot, mainly because they are guys. Yes, I am a girl who hangs with guys. But it's all in fun.
Yuri, I don't like as much as yaoi, which is odd in a way concertining I am bi, but when it comes to certian things, I like yaoi more.
My best friend who I have had most of my 20+ years in life doesn't like any of it really. She used to be into Power Rangers growning up and would always call me and talk to me about it everyday when we was younger, but now she's into other things and we hardly have anything in common anymore, but I don't mind, I do enjoy the things we have in common with her.
So, I guess for me it's who I am with.

My friends know about my obsession with Japan and about my love for fashion and support it (especially my Girlfriend) which I love. I couldn't ask for better friends. I have even convinced some of them to dress in Japanese fashion or try cosplay! heart
But Mostly my good friends like what I like, my acquaintances think I'm a really cool person and respect my loves and my differences. Same goes for the yaoi and Shonen ai stuff. I'm glad that everyone loves me for me and respects me though. I've never had a problem with people judging me or anything like that. I'm so lucky!

I remember walking downtown once and you were wearing your frilly lolita dress--Do you remember that person who stopped and honked and leaned out the window to ask you where you got your dress? I guess our little city really is a mixed bag of people. I don't find people in the city to be especially judgmental actually... if anyone is judgmental its people in smaller communities like high schools and colleges ;o Harray for busy citizens! Lol

oh!... well, my sibils (May be -1 ^^) shared all of we some thing about of japan (manga and anime, food and dream of cosplay); and most of my friends too (Lucky lucky ^¬^)... with sisters share a little yaoi and shonen and shonen ai and fanservice (male) and dream will make a cosplay (uuuuuuuu TwT), brother a little shonen and fanservice (female), and friends lolikon and fanservice (female) and yuri...
I love school uniforms and acute voices and lolita *w*... sentai isn't shared with none of my T,T...

I think about 3 of my friends, including me are into atleast anime x manga but I'm the only one that loves everything about it. lol my friends call me weirdo because of it also because I'm like in love with Jpo group Access lol

I have three friends that like anime, out of those three i am the only one who loves, anime, manga, shounen-ai, shoujou-ai, and hentai
though i guess i'm more just for the cartoons... two of the friends are japanophiles (sry but there is no betta word for 'em xD) and the other one is interested in anime but doesn't have the want to watch it subbed, so I tell him about every anime I watch, whether he wants to listen or not! lol

my friend IS japanese. well half. but he teases me about it, all in good fun. He is also VERY perverted so whenever he sees me, he tends to let his perverted mind wander freely. rofl
