Poppetta My Mum and Nan are both into crochetting and knitting, my Mum can't knit anymore though because she has carpal tunnel syndrome and holding the needles hurts too much. i have decided that i shall learn to crochet, i bought some lovely wool last year and got my Nan to knit me a jumper, the picture on the pattern looked really nice, just a plain V neck, but it has that 'lettuce' frill round the hem and cuffs.BUT it was obviously meant for thinner wool than the batch that i bought, so the frills are rather large confused i look like nothing more than an overgrown pixie in it redface SO, it needs unpicking and turning into something else, there is also another 4 balls of wool somewhere as my Mum wouldn't listen when i told her i didn't need that much! now seeing as my Nan is unlikely to be around to knit me something else, i think i'll learn to crochet and start a nice cuddly blankie off with the wool and have it on my bed to remember my Nanny by 3nodding She'd approve of that, and it's such lovely wool, really cheap, 90p a ball i think, and 50% lambswool too so it's very strokable, in a delicious muted raspberry shade(my Nan loves raspberries) so i think it's a fitting thing to do don't you?

SunnShinne My mom crochets. She's left handed too, so I never could pick up on crocheting very much. I know the regular chain stitch and double stitch but that's about as far as I've gotten. She has made both my girls a baby blanket, not to mention a bunch of doilies. I love to put them on my night stands and end tables. I have one that she made with cats on it, that was the best one she made, I think. I do knit though. I love it! I've made an angel ornament, a purse (which I need to finish), a scarf, and a hat for my daughter. I also do cross stitching, which is very time consuming. I've made alot of little refrigerator magnets/ornaments, and I also made an angel picture that I framed (was beautiful until the dog ate it) Now I'm into making rice necklaces, I also sell them. I have to order the vials from hawaii. Butterfly knows what they look like. They are very pretty, in my opinion. As a matter of fact I have one on order right now, I just can't decide what to charge for it, LOL. I have alot of little "things" that I like to do whee

SunnShinne There is a computer program out that teaches knitting and crochet. I think they're called Knitting made easy and Crochet made easy. I could be wrong though. I think you can find them at walmart or even any craft store and I think they're about $10. I used the knitting one and it showed alot of stitches that I couldn't figure out by myself or looking at books. It's kinda like a video, it's really cool, has an actual person doing the stitches (from your view) along with pictures. It's really easy to understand. Now knitting is the same whether you're left handed or right handed but crochet is different and if I'm not mistaken it shows you both ways on the crochet program.

My mom tats. She uses a shuttle or two, and threads knots so quickly it looks like she's just poking the shuttle through her fingers over and over! She makes snowflakes for christmas ornaments, and little lacey wraps to go around christmas ornament balls, and she once taught me when I was little, and I made a few bookmarks, and one pastel flower. I learned to knit once too, and I made a scarf and a sweater for my teddy bear, and that was it. My mom's also into something new, called Hardanger embroidery, where she embroiders a white cloth with white thread, and then cuts out patterns between the stitches to make a sort of lace. (example from google) (tatting samples)

I picked other because I cross stitch but haven't done it in a very long time.
I also made a quilt when I was a senior in high school and received 100% on it. I still have it and use it all the time.

And the school award reminds me, Jason made a great tie-dye/batik that he won first prize on in an art show. 3nodding

i myself cross stitch....it was easiest for me....but i have only done one patterned one.....all the others were of my own creation....yep that is me using my brain...and it actually work....lol.....
the first one i did was for jakes 2003 halloween pic.....it was of spongebob with jellyfish floating around.....with his name and halloween 2003 all arund a frame....which i put a pic of jake in his halloween outfit......
the other is of my tattoo on my arm...which you can probably guess is a butterfly....
the third was my biggest....i did one for my stepdad of an 18 wheeler.....and on the side of the trailer is spongebob....named the truck the jellyfish express.....
and the fouth was a design based on a celtic symbol.....i cant remember the name of it....but to give you a idea of what it looks like.....there are 4 circles placed in a diamond pattern..none interlaced...but all attached by a 5th circle in the middle of them...if anyone can think of the name then remind me....
i need to take some pics of these for you all to see...they look better then they sound....lol

The butterfly I understand, and spongebob I'm guessing is a preference of your son's, but of what special significance is the jellyfish?

Wondering what I missed. Jade watches spongebob sometimes, and I overhear it, but I've never heard of him hunting jellyfish!
