What, use the U.S. Military for its only legitimate purpose, defending our borders from foreign threats? No no, that won't do at all. We can only use troops to stick our noses in places it doesn't belong, not for actually protecting America's borders. Peacekeeping in some African nation going through a civil war? Fine. Sending them overseas to invade another nation because you think they have something? Perfectly acceptable. Using them to defend the border and prevent violent drug gangs who have killed several thousand people in Mexico from coming across and doing the same thing here to American citizens? Unthinkable.
If you think you detect a hint of sarcasm there, you're exactly right. For far too long, the U.S. Military has been deployed as the worlds policemen, not as a defense force against foreign threats. Now a genuine foreign threat, which could easily come across the border and threaten us here at home has presented itself, and Obama is hesitating? Methinks that he doesn't quite understand the term, Department of DEFENSE. Protecting our borders is the ONE thing our military SHOULD do, and its the one thing they really don't do all that well. Thousands of illegal immigrants and drugs coming across the border prove that.
