Time of Day: Dusk
Setting:Outskirts of city. High grass and small marshes. Fields towards the north and east, a large river towards the west.

I'll leave the setting simple, go ahead and post, Fef.

Fefnir's wraith-like form glided slowly through the tall grass, making not a sound more than was necessary. He needed to have all of his wits about him, because his opponent was widely reputed as one of the strongest people in all of the spiritual world. He'd want to remember every detail carefully, because a chance of this sort might never arise again. The Squad Nine captain, with a quick twitch of his neck, flooded his eyes with reiatsu to enhance his vision and comprehension, and scanned the large area for any sign of the Vaizard woman he was to engage with, but upon finding no sign of her, was even more wary. Feiy... she must be hiding her spiritual pressure very well to escape my notice... Fefnir thought, examining each landmark around him for possible use later on. At any rate, I'll use this time to prepare a little...

Fefnir located a small post of some sort (it appeared to be the remains of a fence, or possibly a gate), and placed his Captain's coat, as well as all of the random little objects he carried with him for no real reason, in a small pile next to it, so as to shade them from the wind. He then pulled a pair of sandals and tabi from his sleeve pocket and pulled both on, first the left, then the right. With a few light hops, he made sure they were secured well enough, then unsheathed his zanpokuto, a large crimson katana a little thinner than the standard blade, and used it to remove the sleeves from his equally red shinigami uniform. He'd need to remove as much drag as possible in order to perform at top speed. it's been a long time since he'd started using Shukuchi, and it had taken a heavy toll on his body.

It wasn't long before this that Fefnir had noticed his eyesight becoming weaker, as well as his legs feeling heavier and heavier. With his unique skill set, he had to be totally attuned to his physical being, and so noticed these differences much more quickly than any other person might have. Still, he knew of the consequences when he undertook the training for the Shukuchi techniques, and had expected this for a long time now. He'd slowed down a bit over these past few years, but he still was much faster than even the quickest of his fellow shinigami, having not only caught his mentor Yukimaru, considered the fastest in all of the Sereitei when she was shunpoing, he'd done it at less than his own top speed. He was immensely proud of this fact, but kept this story hidden for his own humility. With a few stretches of his legs and back, Fefnir had nothing left but to wait for Feiy, and so he kept his vigilant watch going, constantly shifting his flowing crimson hair out of his face in order to see better.

It just doesn't feel the same, why do I feel so empty? I feel like I've lost my soul to the will of the devil... She said, skulking towards the outskirts of town. Even since she had increased her limits with her vizard powers, she hasn't like she usually did. Her mental state was diminishing by the day, the line between friend and foe which was thin to begin with had practically faded into the shadows of her mind. Her thirst for blood and battle was a strong one indeed. Her hand had suddenly pressed against her forehead as if she had a headache, her pace being impeded for a moment.

"Someone is here... who are they?"

She groaned, her hand gripped the handle to the dagger's sheath tightly out of reflex. It was growing dark and she was becoming more testy by the second, trying to familiarize herself with the reiatsu signature. Its been three long years, and she could barely remember all the people she had met before. Memories in her mind distorted from her training. The wind whipped around as if concerned for its master. She let out a loud scream, drawing the dagger from its sheath releasing her dark energy. She ran her hand slowly over her face, bits of her mask began to form. Her eyes glowed a dim gold as the night drew near. She looked around, noticing a pile of something upon the ground nearby, not yet noticing that it was just the belongings of someone.

With a burst of energy she rushed towards, and using only her fist and her spiritual pressure attacked Fefnir's haori. It was torn to shreds in an instant. She screamed again, her voice being distorted from the filtering of her energy and mask.

Only moments before Feiy's strike, Fefnir felt her presence approaching just as she had felt his own. It wasn't familiar, but it was definitely strong, so Fefnir surmised it was her. He shifted his gaze to watch her approach, possibly to greet her as an honorable opponent, but as soon as she was in his field of vision, his thoughts instead turned to other things. She was undeniably beautiful, or had been at one time, but the conflicting aura he felt coming from her as well as her unstable mannerisms gave her such a carnal presence that he couldn't help but wonder if he should instead call in a medical team to make sure she was stable. He would have been rather reluctant to fight her now if she hadn't struck first, but she did so with a guttural scream and a quick movement that showed her skills were fine, even if her mind was not. The move was quick, and probably would have been just a slight bit too fast for a normal person to track well, but Fefnir's Ocular Shukuchi allowed him to see her strike fairly well through heightened comprehension. His ears were ringing a bit from the first cry, but then came a second that intensified it to an uncomfortable level, and his possession were ripped apart like paper. He had just barely caught a glimpse of her face, but it was enough to put him on the defensive. Her mask... already?

He'd have to get moving, and quickly, or he'd be done for. "If she's like this..." he said to himself, leaping away with his exceedingly powerful legs while simultaneously wrapping his blood red reiatsu around his feet not only to cushion the landing but also to start his Shukuchi's charge. Evasion was priority number one for now, or at least until he could reach One Step or True level. Until then, there wasn't much he could do to compete with Feiy. "I'll have get serious too! Burn Forever, Kaji Hitokage!" With a flash of red, Fefnir's katana burst into flames for a second, and when the flare had cleared, there was an aura surrounding the blade that was as red as it's owner's eyes, and a small cloth that appeared to have been dyed crimson on the corners sprung from the hilt. As the sun's presence lessened and the darkness began to creep in, the whole place was covered in a shadowy layer. However, it was exceedingly warm, much more so than normal due to Kaji's natural heat, and mildly illuminated by the crimson light of Fefnir's zanpokuto.

With an almost unnoticeable rustling, Fefnir landed amongst the tall grass, and in the next moment was merely a blurred picture of himself, almost sliding in a circular path around Feiy, keeping a wide berth to allow him to react adequately to any strike she may make. Three Step Shukuchi, coupled with his Ocular Shukuchi, gave him a truly ghostly appearance as his eyes burned like hot coals in the dusk, and his blade and feet matched those fiery spheres breaking the darkness. While he moved, he continued to slowly add reiatsu to his feet to help move them to the next level safely, as he'd learned when he first mastered the technique. To rush this would cost him the battle for sure, but could possibly (and maybe worst of all) cost him his legs completely. He'd bide his time until he could make an effective counterstrike.

Feiy slowly stood up, her back arching slightly as she took a deep breath, the air sifting through her mask. As she exhaled, her aura seemed to billow out from the sides of her mask like smoke. She tried to hold back her laughter, her golden eyes drawn on to the retreating Fefnir. As she focused her attention onto her next victim, she let go of her restraints bursting out in laughter. It sounded crude and unnatural due to her hollow powers surfacing. Her reiatsu level continued to raise, the air only continuing to grow heavier.

"Feeeeefniiiir... so it was your energy that I could taste in the aiiir..." She spoke, stressing on some syllables.

"Give it to me... I want your spirit. I demand your energy... GIVE IT TO ME!" She screamed again. Though her eyes weren't follow Fefnir, she had a lock onto his signature. Her body protecting her own field of detection, releasing particles of her reiatsu into the air to not only track his movements when he was nearby but to know what to use in relation to how he was to her. Doing this was second nature to her now, cackling as she made her approach. She heard that Fefnir was fast, but didn't have much of a clue how fast he truly was, but it didn't matter to her.It was feeding time for her and Jezebel.

She drew her other zanpakutou, dual-wielding both blades. Leaning to the side, almost as if she going to fall she sprang into a sudden sonido, using it in rapid succession to quickly approach him, not wanting to waste too much time.

"DOUBLE ETERNAL GALE!" In an instant as she drew closer she swun both blades, firing two eternal gales both of them fired in a way to collide at one point where she predicted Fefnir would most likely be. She laughed again, she continued to chase behind her attack readying a heavy diagonal swing from below across his torso.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 16, 2009 6:16 pm

Fefnir almost failed to repress a shudder. The way she was speaking... it was more like she was possessed than anything, like the hollow was more in control than she was. And that laugh... talk about freaky! Fefnir had heard horror stories from all over the Sereitei about Feiy, but he wouldn't believe them until he saw her cruelty for himself. She was more than just cruel now, though. She had double the lust for blood; both hers, and her inner hollow's as it changed her from the inside. Then, she was moving, only a small 'fsh!' sound telling of her impending location, and only then, just barely. Suddenly, she was in front of him, where he was about to be in his circular path, and launched dual shockwaves through the air toward him.

"Oh fu-" Fefnir exclaimed, sliding to his right and out of the way of the strikes. Screw safety, he'd never be safe unless he was faster than Feiy! He had just barely avoided the dual wind strikes when she swooped in to follow it up with a diagonal slice to his midsection. Fefnir brought his blade up in his right hand and braced it against his side. His uniform was smoking lightly: it was fireproof, but the blade was still superheated, so it was melting the cloth a little. In response to her move, he allowed the force of the strike to knock him away from her, and as he slid almost without friction, he added more and more reiatsu to his feet, taking him to One Step Shukuchi. With a slight kick, Fefnir disappeared from sight, and less than a second later, he was behind his opponent making a strike downward toward her right shoulder.

Her eyes were fixated on Fefnir, the golden glow from behind the mask in the almost pitch black clearing, gave an errie feel to the already deadly Feiy. In the night, she seemed more of a hollow then a turned shinigami, her aura almost attracted to Fefnir's reiatsu, pooling around though not going near him. She didn't say a word or even laughing. All that could be heard was heavy breathing, a sound that only signaled more feral anger coming from her.

The moment Fefnir disappeared she used sonido to go directly after him, thinking that he was taking a direct approach. However, the moment her air field had detected movement on her, she immediately made her reiatsu more dense, taking on more hollow characteristics. Her skin became very hard, similar to the hierro of the hollow, but not exactly due to her not releasing yet. She flipped the dagger so she was holding it the opposite way, using the the end of it to give resistance to his swing. The blade was searing and was quickly burning her flesh. Biting her tongue to null the pain slightly, she pushed herself forward, flipping around with her two left fingers pointed at Fefnir. She fired at flurry of bala blasts at his position.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 17, 2009 9:06 pm

When Fefnir's toes hit the ground, he was off again, just narrowly avoiding all but the first bala, which had grazed his back and his left arm a little. He was circling again, his steps marked with the shattered ground around her seeming to break at almost the same instant and waving grass that did more to hide him than to reveal his location. Suddenly, though, he was visible as he approached Feiy from the left side, behind her just enough to not be in her field of vision. He was conserving his reiatsu a little in this way, so he could maintain this level for longer, but he was also planning a little move. Though this sleight might not have worked on a lot of people, Fefnir wasn't sure if this person was thinking clearly enough to notice the deception, so as he approached, he deliberately let himself be felt by Feiy, and when he was close enough, he returned to his former speed, appearing on the other side of her and making an upward strike, but even then his trick wasn't done. Mid strike, just before he made contact with her, he stepped again, landing squarely behind her, and continued the movement up her back, slicing from her lower left toward the upper right.

I guess this will be the test, won't it? Fefnir thought while this was going on, If she predicts it, Feiy is still in control. If not, she's more Hollow than person now. Either way, I'll have to keep the pressure on her, make her react to me, and stay moving above all else. Play is safe, Fefnir... Make sure you can actually do what you plan to before trying. A single mistake could get you killed by her...

Then Kaji piped up, adding his dreary tone to Fefnir's mind. "Oh, heaven forbid you die and release me from the suffering I must endure as a tool you use SO well... Really, can't you just slow down and get hit so we can go home, or better yet, not exist?"

Seriously, shut it. Fefnir replied. Damn, must Kaji ALWAYS be so negative? We'll leave when I'm the winner, or we'll leave when someone carries me away. GOT IT?

The phoenix sighed. "It's not like I have much say in this matter, do I? You're the one controlling you, not me."

Damn straight I'm controlling me! Now shut your beak and do something useful for once. Help me cut her!

Feiy stood still in her stance again, still like a statue. She let the air field be her eyes as he was moving much to fast for her eyes to keep up with. However, she could still the cracked ground that gave away his position if not for a brief moment. He was circling around her like a shark, which for some reason she noticed to be a common tactic with fast fighters, her sister included. The tactic she could use wouldn't be accessible until she got some space. All she could do was react at the right moment to catch him off guard.

She took a quick breath, the air rasping through her mask. Placing her hand on the handle of her shinigami zanpakutou. She readied a dual wielding stance. She suddenly felt him get within her field right in front of him, resisting the urge to lash out and chase him. Instead, she waited still and she didn't have to wait long as he appeared to her side, already striking. She moved only slightly, feeling the heat rush up in front of her. As she moved to make her counter, he had suddenly disappeared, appearing behind Feiy and slashing her back, searing through her clothes. She yelled out, not in pain but of anger as she spun to backhand Fefnir in the face with her fist. The pain stung, but she was used to such injuries, but she had to keep on her toes now to let that happen again.

"FEFNIIIIIIIIR!"She screamed, suddenly getting a grasp of what was going on.She increased the pressure of her reiatsu even more, making her energy more dense than before, doing so to give her a weaker version of hierro since she didn't use her ressurecion. As long as his weapon was out, there wasn't a chance of her getting in real close to do serious damage and with her current abilities she couldn't do much from afar that he wouldn't be able to dodge. Her choices were limited. She could go bankai and keep up with his speed from there, or use more of her hollows power and use resurecion.

Fefnir couldn't help but be surprised by his opponent's reaction. He had been looking for a slash rather than a slap, and so he was hit full on by it. He cringed as he saw it coming for a split second but was unable to block it, and then when it connected, he was knocked to the ground, bouncing once before he was hidden partially by tall grass. A moment later, there was a sickening crack. Fefnir's neck had been popped out a little as a result of the position it was in, and he'd twisted it to move the vertebrae partially back into line. It had hurt, and he'd need to have someone fix it properly later, but for now it would do. Quickly rising to his feet, Fefnir was back to his Shukuchi enhanced running in just a short moment. This time, however, he did it a bit differently: he made a beeline toward Feiy, and as he got closer, before either one was close enough to strike with a blade, he started to make his strides wider horizontally to create the illusion of his path splitting in two directions, then mixed in more random movement, spreading them even further and placing footprints all around his opponent in a medium sized radius. Utilizing his mobility, Fefnir had basically taken away what little indication of his location there was, the trail of broken earth he left behind, and it allowed him a cover to move into an attacking position. All around Feiy, the earth seemed to be breaking of it's own accord, the pieces flipping into the air, and the stillness felt was drowned out by noise of such action.

Fefnir knew it was much too soon to start patting himself on the back, but he was overjoyed that the battle had thus far gone his way, especially against an opponent like Feiy, who could easily have taken most of the denizens of the Sereitei down without much effort. He'd have to be on his toes though, because she probably had something up her sleeve, but he wasn't sure, since he'd never truly fought with a vaizard before, and there was little information about her in the archives, and that data was several hundred years out of date. His lack of information kept Fefnir pushing his attacks more and more to prevent his foe from using them at all. Every moment he spent in the presence of this apparent madwoman strengthened his desire to end their fight quicker.

Fefnir collapsed the patterns, and all at once, he seemed to come from eight directions toward Feiy, all around and above her. Seven of these were accidentally created after images, reflections of Fefnir's moves caused by and emanating from the heat his lithe form had emanated coupled with his zanpokuto's natural radiance, and once he became visible due to the air's friction, his form was mirrored by the waves. In just a couple of moments, though, just as they were about to reach Feiy, they dissipated, and only the real Fefnir remained, slicing down at her back from the opposite angle of his first hit, and it would make an 'X' should this strike connect and complete the shape. After he followed through with his slash, just as he made solid contact with the ground, he dropped down on his left knee and pulled the blade to the right in an attempt to slice the legs of his foe and, if he was lucky, injure the muscle enough to make their gap in speed permanent. Anything to widen that gap would be more that helpful.

Feiy didn't budge at all. She never fought Fefnir and she had to bide her time and wait. Watching all of his movements to see what he could do, even at the cost of suffering a few injuries. She smiled though it was impossible to see. From the way he went around to fighting her, it felt to her that he wasn't that confident. She gave him a chance to really do some damage, but she was really going to bring the pain.

She went into an Iai stance. She planned to use her attack sealed technique Rudra Tyrfing, a method of attacking using the force behind drawing your weapon to increase the speed and damage of the attack. With her power and focusing a good portion of current reiatsu into her arm, she could many times in front of her in an instant. As soon as he stopped and the after images came after, she knew that she had to find the real one quickly. She whispered her attack quietly, attacking the images in front of her, however from the way she moved it only seemed she had the one directly in front of her. It was then that she realized that Fefnir had to be behind her. She pretended to be caught by his technique.

As soon as he heard him land, she slowed the technique as she sheathed her weapon. She hopped up in what seemed to be a mid-air roll, spinning in place. She initiated her technique again as she felt the air being pushed by his strike. She aimed her strikes in front o her, covering the ground and hopefully with a flurry of slashes.

Tiiiing! There was a ringing in the air as Feiy drew her blade at high speed, a ring Fefnir knew too well as the same one his finisher Shuntensatsu created. He reacted, and as the strike came in from Fefnir's left into the gap after his attack, he deftly flipped the blade back over in front of his arm to block the attack. The way the attack was executed, however, flew a little further into Fefnir's zone than he'd anticipated, and it cut his arm a little as the impact was made. However, it worked well in this case, as it gave a split second opportunity to him: pushing foreward toward her exposed arm and torso with the full speed of his One Step Shukuchi behind it. Once his blade had cleared contact with hers, he disappeared, and just a blink of an eye later, he was taking a slash at her midsection.

That attack... Fefnir thought in a flash as he was moving in, It was quite an effective yet flawed technique. If I hadn't had my Ocular Shukuchi to aid me in seeing and countering it, I most likely would have lost an arm, maybe both... Still, such a technique has inherent problems, yet she used it so efficiently and effectively... Is she... toying with me?

Feiy couldn't help but almost be surprised as he saw through the intense speed of her attack, blocking and countering before her brain even had a chance to process it, as she thought she made a crippling blow. She spun even faster in the air for a few seconds feeling the air seep into her burn making the pain ache much more than before. She then suddenly dropped like a rock, almost curling and writhing in pain. However, it was all just a ruse.

While she pretended to be really hurt, her hand was over her wound, healing herself with her chiyuudou on top of the slight regeneration and numbing effects of her hollow powers. Once she was done, she groaned and curled again with her back arching up in the air. Like a snake, she snapped for forward to strike her prey, using shunpo to heavily increase her striking at Fefnir's legs. She held her blade in reverse as she went to have the blade slice through his Achilles' tendons.

Yuki had taught Fefnir too well. As soon as Feiy hit the ground, his mind snapped into action, considering the reasons. She'd already proven herself a formidable foe, so that attack having been so devastating as to drop her was unlikely. No, he surmised, it was a ruse. Or maybe... maybe she was indeed crazier than he had suspected, and her mind had degenerated to that of a child's? It wasn't uncommon for insanity to be a factor of dementia, so behaviors like this weren't at all out of the question among those who had been afflicted. Perhaps she had merely regressed, and had the tolerance for pain that a small child would have, that crippling inability to cope? Ah, what's this...? Suddenly, Fefnir's musings were interrupted by the feel of reiatsu emanating from the crumpled form. So it was a ruse... That's clearly Chiyudou she's using. I'll have to be on my guard for some sort of counterattack now... Fefnir could sense reiatsu on minuscule levels because of his intense training to acquire his Shukuchi technique. It was a complex maneuver that took him years to perfect simply because of that complexity as well as its sensitivity. One miscalculation could render his legs useless and lose him the battle. It was the same with this situation now: One mistake, and Feiy would cut him down. One error, and he was a dead man.

Fefnir took a some reiatsu and held it just outside of his eyes, ready to move them into his True Ocular Shukuchi at a moment's notice. In this way, he'd be able to react to anything that Feiy could conjure up to hit him with. Everything would be slowed to him, almost to an excruciating level, like someone was using the frame-by-frame function on a video. He'd be able to see everything, able to strike precisely, able to think of any plan he needed while the move was still in motion. Nothing would be beyond his scope with it. He wasn't wrong to do it either; Feiy rolled over, still groaning, since Fefnir hadn't given any indication that he'd realized she was faking, and from there, launched toward him with a shunpo. The reiatsu hit about half way through her flight path, and suddenly she was hanging in mid air, that terrifying mask and horrid eyes staring at him without movement. He, likewise, was slowed, but being the fastest shinigami around, he could still detect his own movement. Feiy crept slowly foreward at him, and he considered her low trajectory and the angle of her blade, as well as his own position relative to her, deriving that her intention was to strike his ankles. He immediately stepped to his right, just outside of her swing, and from there, swung his own blade down on top of her at an equally slow pace, timed so that it would connect with her left shoulder. As his swing ended, so did his True Ocular Shukuchi, and everything suddenly accelerated back to it's only mildly sluggish view at One Step Ocular.
