That's exciting! When I was a Junior in High School, my parents agreed to host a Japanese exchange student for the year. It was really exciting. My friends and I learned a lot about our own language and culture because of her. She asked us what "sucks" meant because she was thinking like a vacuum and we were saying that class sucked, etc. So we had to try to explain what we really meant by that. That happened a lot. lol

My parents only agreed because my brother had just gone off to college so we used his room. All they had to do was pay for food and stuff. For things like clothes or personal purchases, Shizuka had her dad's credit card. My parents are super generous though and bought her all the same sort of stuff they bough me (clothes and christmas presents and what not). I was a really fantastic experience though. I'd love to host a student when I have a solid income.

That really is pretty cool, princess. I once almost had a Costa Rican exchange student, but she was denied access to the United States because something got backed up with her paperwork. My mother had gone out and bought her a comfortable down-comforter and everything. Oh well. I use it now as a mattress pad. I'm sure that Yumi will enjoy your hometown~

Fun! My house is...well, small. And our guestroom no longer has a bed because we donated it to a group home. So yeah, no chance of anyone, much less a Japanese student, being able to live here. crying

No room there either. We were planning on moving this summer (but now we're waiting another year...whatever...) so all the extra bedrooms (and I guess mine counts as extra now that I'm in college) have boxes in them. LOL Miss Chloie You sleep on the floaaar! Izumi-san Fun! My house is...well, small. And our guestroom no longer has a bed because we donated it to a group home. Hey at least you know you're moving! A guy I knew got a post card from his parents his freshman year saying, "Hey! We moved across the country!" We thought it was pretty hilarious. He was ticked. lol

@ Sora - We got our exchange student through AFS. They sent us an email with a few students we could choose from (I think we specified a few nationalities when we applied) with little bios and a photo. So essentially we shopped for one. ^_^; So you totally could pick one based on looks. lol

Lol you can find anything on the internet now-a-days. you can find jobs, so in hindsight it makes sense. But we all have 20/20 hindsight right? lol

For real though, I think that it would be really shallow to choose someone based on looks. confused
