Welcome~ Can you please add a poll to your thread as stated in the Guild rules? Thanks! Good luck at finding a mentor. I draw myself, but I don't have the time available that I would want to dedicate to helping you. It's not really that tough. Generally, start with replication. Find a mangaka's style that you really like and try and draw like they do. You can look up guides on how you can change your perspective online---such as, seeing shapes instead of simply lines. Also, there are a lot of tutorials on deviantart.com. Many artists have used artbooks or online sources to refine their style.
[EDIT:] Thanks so much. (:

I start out with shapes for the head and joints, then i make an outline of the body. Then I give the body some clothes (sometimes, muwahha). Details come last.
If you want color and want it to look like the manga covers, get photoshop...but that's expensive D=

I would look online for tutorials or observe anime and manga you see. ^^ I'm not that good so I can't really help, I can never draw the same thing twice. xD If once even. I usually look on deviant art for tutorials or youtube sometimes.. Or you could always take an art class at school or in real life I suppose..

I start with the eyes, the easiest part for me. then I add the nose, then the mouth, then the hair. After all of that looks right to me, I do the outline of the face. Then the neck and shoulders. That's about as far as I've gotten on an anime drawing. I'll try to post some pictures of my art tomorrow! 4laugh See ya!

I can't draw the bodies. Only heads, but I can tell you what I know.
First, you draw a perfect circle. Then, when you are finished, draw the jaws and chin, and draw lines that go across all the way down. Then draw a vertical line in the middle. (doesn't have to be staright, It depends on the way the anime person is looking)
Now, you want the eyes to be really low. That way it gives you more room for hair. Once you draw the eyes, draw the nose, and mouth.
When you are done, you can draw the hair now. The hair should be overlapping the head. A LOT. Then, you erase all the lines, and you're DONE!

The best thing I probably drew in my entire life was during a lecture in environmental science, but it was super-2D. xD The character looked like a flippin' board, for Gaia's sake. I threw it out while ago, though...

I would advise just coping work from an artist you like. You get to see how the stand, folds in clothes expressions etc. The just let it evolve, simplify or whatever.
But most importantly draw in pen. If you erase your mistakes you wont learn XD I just use a cheap biro.... though i guess thats easy to tell =_=
